End PvP boosting for health of the game

it doesn’t, people pay for better teams in team sports all of the time. are you comparing ranked arena to a pick up game at your local basketball court or?

why are you comparing low ranked players to kids? theoretically, especially in dragonflight, we should all be on an even playing field here no? its only a skill gap, not some inherent age or ability gap as far as im aware

There are probably a lot of really talented players who leave for good as well because they can’t do anything more with the game. they put 10s of thousands of hours into mastering it and then they get banned for coaching. why should someone who has put so much into something not be able to profit off of it?

this is so frustrating to read, sometimes i just want to play with a real life friend or on an alt and i get an insane amoutn of toxic whispers for jsut trying to have fun.

why should some people be restricted from participating because they are decent at the game? usually when im at 1800 mmr, its because i deserve to be there either because of my gear, my skill level on that alt/spec, or my partners skill difference. just because i win a game vs someone doesnt mean im not going 50/50

perhaps try assuming differently, what if its a parent-child duo? or someone who introduced their friend to the game and they want to play together? or a gladiator met someone in a dungeon and they wanted to try playing 2s? should all these things result in a ban for the players?

yes they do, ESPECIALLY the better players - you dont get good sitting your rating - is this a troll thread?

back in my day when i was a 1400 n00b, i used to get so excited to queue into even 1800 or 2000 rated players because i felt it was a great opportunity to learn. shm so hard, everyone is so entitled these days thinking they aren’t where they want to be becasue someone is holding them down

Agree with most of what this man says right here. I used to get really frustrated with boosting when I was newer to the game. I’m still not a fan of streamers who go on and do carries to promote their stream. Especially certain ones that are constantly doing it and stomping 1800-2k mmr players. I believe they drive people away from pvp because they are living in that bracket and every team they beat has two or three guys on the other end of it who now have to win the next game just to stay where they were before queuing into the multi r1 blizzcon contender who decided to take a dump on them.

That said, there are tons of resources for improving at the game (skillcapped, watching streams, YouTube videos). If you dedicate some time to it, the boosters/carriers don’t feel as overwhelming. This isn’t meant to be a “get good” post, but with time and effort (and repetition) it gets easier to understand how to live through a lot of the situations. Especially when DF comes out and gear hopefully isn’t such a factor.

The amount of people nitpicking an analogy are just being contrary because they can. Boosting is out of hand and bad, defending it just makes you look either A: sad or B: a boosting customer

I’m sure that makes you feel better but we’re not lying what most people call boosting is usually not. It’s a blanket excuse for losing games

But we’re not talking about that are we? We are talking about the actual genuine sold rating that happens.

Yes obviously that’s bad

Boosting should be just about dead come DF because higher rating no longer gives better gear. Far less people are interested in just cosmetic rewards. You’ll have people selling 2s wins for conquest cap but doing that yourself is far easier for the average player than getting 2100.

Nah people have been buying boosts for other reasons on every video game since the dawn of time idk who convinced y’all it’s a shadowlands only issue

You have to admit it will be cut down dramatically without power gains. I did edit to recognize 2s carries for weekly cap but unlike getting higher rating there is no skill requirement to do that yourself.

You are in luck bud… Ranked solo is beginning and you can’t boost in that bracket.

oh but you can, you’ll perhaps see an older boosting issue reemerge as this new ranked bracket is implemented

Well it sure was in SL, but like you said, I also think 90%+ will go away with DF, because rating won’t be needed for gear.

no it for sure wasn’t in SL, and people will be boosting exactly as much as they do now, in dragonflight

guess u may as well wrap it up

I really can’t tell if this kind of dreck is saying that most boosts are based on wanting to obtain higher ilvl gear, or rather based on gladiators only being capable of doing boosts because they so severely outgear. Neither is true, of course, and if either were you’d think the complaints would establish that cogency

Only way to put an end to this is to bring back arena teams that are locked after a certain point like they used to be, bring back old MMR/CR rating system. Make titles based off of %s and not actual ratings and have the titles only be given out after end of season after Blizzard looks at logs to see who got boosted and who played legit.

The very system I just described used to exist and when it did there was a lot less boosting going on. And make it to where 5s come back and titles can only be given in 3s, 5s and 2s only be for gearing up.

Boosting with gold won’t change. Unless they remove the wow token. Which won’t happen.

Scene: your buddy who used to play the game a long time ago, comes back to WOW. Hes having fun, so are you, everyone is having fun.
He says “hey bro can you help me get into arenas, im not very good though, its been a long time since ive pvp’d”

You say “nahh man thats toxic for the game. Im too strong to play with you. You should really grind out LFG untill you hit 2200, then itll be cool.”

He says “sick dude see ya never.”

Add arena teams and the old MMR system back in. Boosting didnt happen near as much when those systems were in place. It was a lot harder to boost when you actually needed to win more than you lost and had to have a set team to do it with.

Also. For an example. We have arena teams in Classic. ZERO posts about arena boosting problems in Classic. Zero arena boosting problems in Classic. Think about that.

Arena teams are a terrible idea and was a terrible idea back then

Arena teams would fix the problem. Problem is someone like me who doesn’t have ques is stuck with LFG. So I don’t like it.
