End Premades

I five capped teams all day everyday for like 4 months straight in vanilla lol

Are you trolling? Or are you that new to PVP that you dont realize that this is already a thing?

its not hard to see that zydax and azzuree are using 0 logic on anything they say…they like premades because they directly benefit them…its a condition with this creature we call “human beings”…they will find a justification for anything that benefits them regardless if its right of wrong…fair or not

Duh.

Compound the effect to emphasize it, and premade versus premade battlegrounds wouldn’t be an issue, because high rank players would be more likely to encounter high rank players.

This exactly. I’m an ex-r13 from Vanilla and even i know the key to reach the higher ranks is to form a group of helmets and beat pugs. Rank never equalled skill in Vanilla and it made it a crappy system. It was very boring and unsatisfying, if anyone actually found this system fun, they are either lying or have no lives (which I had none back in 06).
Some of the best pvpers I grouped with in arena were my cousins who didn’t even rank in Vanilla. Some of the r14s from the server couldn’t even break 2000s, it got hard for them around 1900 lol.

The system doesn’t need to change in Vanilla. Let the rankers rank because these are the most they’ll accomplish “PvP” wise, I guarantee about 95% of the helmets you’ll see in Vanilla don’t have the ability to even reach 2k ratings in arena where it is a more controlled balanced battle.

That’s fine. But only one bracket should earn honor. If you’re not willing to put in the 20 minutes it takes to put together a group you don’t deserve the same rewards as those who do.

2005 is never coming back. Yeah players have changed. And no amount of “fixes” to a garbage pvp system will magically port you back to 2005. Fair competitive pvp will never exist in classic because that’s not what the honor system rewards. And people want the rewards, that’s the entire point of ranking and premades in the first place.

stop making sense…let the R14 retail rivals bask in their glory

Get off your high horse, Zydax.

You deserve 0 honor for stomping pugs. How about that?

It’s obvious that you have no desire to preserve Vanilla gameplay at all.

Bring on TBC honestly. Let the sweaty prove themselves in arena.

they won’t I guarantee that. The best player from my old server in Vanilla was a shaman who only reached like rank 11 or 12, they used to call him raid boss. But when tbc came out he was in a 3s team that competed in those e-sport leagues.

Even in vanilla, players were premading to rank. I was in a guild that did nothing but PVP until everyone capped out on their ranks and we switched to a raiding guild. I am not sure why people are acting like premades are a new thing. Everyone knew how the pvp system and honor system worked before classic was released and yet everyone is acting surprised or like this is new.

All you guys are proving is that inherent incentive to premade was already built into the game if Blizzard had designed the ability to premade around the premise of premades facing each other, and that the downfall of the Vanilla PvP system was entirely the fault of premades facing pugs.

Premades are not a new thing. This is a continuation of a conversation we’ve been having about them for 15 years.

You seem to have failed to recollect Blizzard’s attempt to force premades to face premades even when classic was live content.

There was public outcry then, there is public outcry now.

The funny thing is I am preserving vanilla gameplay. Premades stomping pugs for efficient honor is vanilla pvp. All rank 14 means is you have alot of time on your hands, deep pockets, and group of people who have the first 2 as well. Ranking in classic/vanilla requires no skill, it never did, just time and effort.

You’re inadvertantly explaining why battlegrounds took a far less important role in TBC pvp, despite having been one of the highest traffic pieces of content in the original game.

But you just finished saying this:

You love to contradict yourself.

At least my position has firm grounding in proper game theory, while yours is inherently formulated out of the confines of self interest.

Unfair matchmaking results in poor quality gameplay. The only justification you have is that it’s more efficient for you to grind out your ranks.

I agree the honor system sucks. But just because you have the ability to premade doesn’t mean the intended design was for premades to only face other premades. The honor system was never designed to be fair, and never supported actually competitive pvp. That’s why they didn’t even bother trying to fix it for TBC, they just got rid of it entirely.

You don’t even understand the basic mechanics of PVP or the honor system, yet you are in here jumping on the “anti-premade bandwagon”. Do yourself a favor and at least do some research before you try and post about something in the future so you don’t destroy your own arguements.

The honor system doesn’t suck.

But premading to stomp pugs is the most efficient way to navigate that system which results in poor quality gameplay. If they removed the ability to pugstomp in premades, the honor system wouldn’t be at fault.

Premades are at fault; not the honor system.

While it wasn’t its only flaw, it certainly was the most glaring.

Isn’t everything rooted in self interest? Wait till AQ comes out, the number of people ranking will drop considerably, because the gear isn’t good anymore. If raids didnt drop any gear how many people would still do them. The entire point of an RPG is to build your character and make them more powerful over time. If an activity doesn’t do that most people will do it once and never go back, and that doesn’t make a good mmo
