End of the High Elf Debate

Half Elves could still happen, but I always thought human skin tones would be one of the defining physical differences between them and Blood Elves (on top of having an altered model, shorter ears/eyebrows, etc.)

I can’t be upset about giving players options though 🤷

That was one of the main draws of Half Elves sadly.

Elves with more Humanism Customizations.

I can see how people who wanted them specifically can be disappointed now.

Blizzard and the Damage Done:

Does it even matter anymore?

the faction divide just keeps getting more and more nebulous, and blurry

It is canon that the current sunwell is a font of both Arcane and Holy power.

Arcane was not replaced. It was joined by Holy.

I feel like in order for this debate to truly end, the rest of the Alliance High Elf population would need to be killed off.

I say before Sylvanas gets her inevitable raid boss premiere in Shadowlands, she should commit genocide on them.

Or story wise rejoin the blood elves. In game.

Or become void elves.

Or be made playable…

I’m sure there’s a couple other options. Lol

Yes, I’m sure the Blood Elves would happily welcome those who attempted murdering them 3 expansions ago.

If the Void Elf transformation could ever be recreated, and the Void Elves themselves never intended to go through it.

No

I don’t think either of these would work. People would just argue that they could be some other small subsection that didn’t die or convert.

Making them playable would probably stop people from asking for them but it’d just make a different mess. Instead of people complaining that they didn’t get HEs you’d have people complaining that they hate the Alliance because they wasted a race slot on another elf race instead of [insert other race here].

I don’t remember where but I read that Lor’themar was quite willing to accept them all back. He wants his people to be one again.

Minus those traitor void elves. Apparently.

This is an unanswered question with void elves.

We do know Alleria’s way can work… But where do they get the Void being to sacrifice for a whole population?

Blizzard could probably claim they found a way to recreate the ritual using minor void minions as the infusion?

Just saying. It would end the debate.

I agree. This isn’t gong to entirely end it but it closes most of the doors. Plus if blizzard stops putting high elves in alliance things and only uses Void Elves it could help with this.

Another good point and I cannot deny it.

But you said high elves.originally, not half elves.
Those images younlisted were for high elves.

Lorthemar only exiled the wuel lithien hogh elves who refused to mana tap living beings.
Vereesa and the sc are not exiled or part of that group who refused.

(Commentary): Indeed. As I said, the idea would be lumping Half-Elf customization options into the High Elf customization options. This is no different than how Dwarves have customization for both Bronzebeard and Wildhammer Dwarves, or how Mag’har have customization for Frostwolf, Blackrock, Shadowmoon, etc… clans.

Was this before or after the purge of Dalaran? I’m also going to need a source for that.

The ritual was done by an etheral and was stopped halfway through.

The elves that went through it had no intentions of wanting to go through with it.

As would killing off the remaining High Elves. You see one common complaint I see from the Alliance is that there are High Elf NPC’s everywhere bit they aren’t playable. Killing them off would solve that problem.

How uninformed can you be? High Elves never joined the Alliance. They helped the Alliance when their needs matched. They didn’t help the Alliance when it didn’t. The Alliance abandoned the High Elves and they got destroyed. The High Elves under then name Blood Elves (because changing your name to Blood Elf doesn’t magically change your race) went to the Horde. You have literally a handful of High Elves that didn’t join the Horde or die.

And it’s fact that there weren’t that many High Elves that indulged in Fel. We should have had blue eyes from the get go. Because we were always High Elves.

Honestly not sure. I’ll try to look for it but I won’t promise nuthin.

Yes. Doesn’t mean they can’t figure out how to do it themselves or that now that they are Void Elves that they’d be unwilling to make more of their kind.

Further bolstering their numbers with high elves would only make more sense if they can’t replenish their numbers… So add high elf customization then to show the added force?

Yes. I wasn’t arguing that point. I was pointing out there are many ways to “end the debate”.

(Conclusion): Address their statement, and then ignore.

(Commentary): What you’ve said isn’t entirely wrong, but it does ignore part of what is in the Lore, as well as the game world. Maybe you should calm down? Step away from the computer, maybe read a book, take a nice relaxing shower or bath, treat yourself to something especially tasty? You seem a little high strung. Try to take it easy. This argument isn’t worth the stress. If something else is bothering you, why not reach out to a friend or family and ask them to just listen? Sometimes just having someone listen is all we need. Just make sure to ask them to just listen, otherwise they may feel compelled to offer solutions to your problem(s) when you don’t need any.

It makes perfect sense for Blood Elves to regain blue shades of eye color, as others have pointed out, since the sunwell is both an Arcane and Light font of magical energy. We also know the Light cures Demonic/Chaos(Fel) taint. Like Xe’ra tried to do with Illidan, plus, not all Blood Elves sucked out Fel Magic, I mean a lot did, but not all of them.

But we know for a fact High vs Blood Elves are just political, so perhaps could we say we want Varessa’s Elves or the Silver Covenant? Because really those are the only ones loyal to the Alliance. The remaining few non-Horde High Elves are neutral, scattered, and primarily seen in Dalaran or as part of the Kirin Tor.

Yeah, no.
Thats giving two races in 1.
It works for the maghar because all of those clans are still maghar.
Half elves and high elves should look different, its just a cheap cop out to get high elves.
Either its a half elf, or nothing at all.
You want high elf? Go Horde.
Faction identity should not be compromised simply because people dislike the game design.
