End of the High Elf Debate

(Statement): My apologies, I was Jacking On. My biological functions asserted themselves momentarily. Magnets have a similar effect sometimes.

This, to my knowledge was already retconned to it was Fel Radiation and not consuming fel . They also already stated that the sunwell is purifying that and it also depends how much you frequent the sunwell. And that, at some point Belves getting back to their helf blue eyes was a possibility but in the far future.

EDIT: Not as a customization per say, but it was stated for the race itself.

Even if they 100% confirmed that BEs were getting 37 different shades of blue eyes it wouldn’t “end” the HE debate any more than them saying that BEs are HEs did.

So its about the lore.

Until it isn’t.

Then its about creating new lore that has nothing to do with the current lore.

It was suggesting a lore-friendly development as a compromise. That’s how I see it, at least

Probably not, even though the debate would definitely be dead in the water

(Commentary): Did you… not read the entirety of what you quoted? Humans have darker skin tones, and have since the game started, though they’re getting proper ones in Shadowlands. Not sure why the customization for them was diluted so much with the WoD updates. High Elves are known to procreate with humans, producing Half-Elves. Half-Elves would logically have darker skin tones from this procreation, since they inherit traits from both parents. Ergo, if High Elf customization included Half-Elf customization, then darker skin tones become a lore-supported addition.

Honestly it should be clear at this point with the trash tier Alliance Allied races and the inclusion of Vulps to the Horde and the Blue Eye’d options for BE’s that Ion just wants everyone playing Horde anyways. Quit fighting it. Lore aside, they’re doing everything they can to kill the Alliance PvP, Raiding, and M+ scene.

Maybe once everyone has made the switch they’ll get rid of the faction restriction on races, either that or that’s the plan sometime during Shadowlands anyways.

It is always about the lore lol. People want helves because they were part of the alliance in the RTS, that’s the whole obsession with it. That’s why people even wanted half elves that used Kalec’s model, which is just a human with blue hair basically.

Obviously new lore would be required to make them playable but that doesn’t change the lore background that makes people want them to be playable. Just like literally every other race people ask for requests new lore to be playable. I don’t want high elves but the requests have always been transparent in this and therefore they will continue to be.

Pretending it’s all about the “super awesome white blood elves hurr durr” is disingenuous at best.

Some have also said that using the fel crystals was also a secret; like everyone suddenly having green eyes wouldn’t seem strange. They also made poor attempts to conceal them.

Oh I have no doubt that there’s exceptions to the retcon esp since technically Valeera Sanguinar would be an exception to the retcon of radiation. But I was simply stating that the retcon already was a thing. There could be plenty of people that have consumed fel anyway.

Why would you think giving blue eyes to blood elves would end the request for playable Alliance High Elves?

I’ve got news for you… it won’t. The requests will continue for the foreseeable future until playable Alliance High Elves are implemented or until WoW shuts down. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

I actually wonder how they’ll address the Silver Covenant lore going forward. They’re exiled from Silvermoon, but who’ll notice now? They can just waltz right back in to their homeland and nobody would be able to tell they’re actually Alliance loyalists. Will make for some interesting lore twists down the road.

What about the Tushui Pandaren walking into Orgrimmar?

Are they exiled from Silvermoon? That’d be news to me

You are right. Ion saying that Blood Elves are High Elves is the only thing needed to prove that

To all those who think this “Ends the Debate.”

  1. Those would just be Blood Elves with Blue Eyes. Void Elves already fill that nich and it changed nothing.

  2. There are still High Elf unique eyes as well as Skin/Hair Colors. Most High Elves have human looking eyes.

  3. Those datamined eyes are likely NPC or DK only because they lack the features the other new eyes have.

  4. High Elves still exist as a separate group and can get new features unique the them once they are made playable.

Nothing has changed at all. At worst it is a separate set of eyes High Elves don’t have, at worst it’s just a new NPC/DK feature.

Sunwell is arcane and holy. Their eyes should have been green, blue or gold for years.

Eye color doesn’t make high elves. (the alliance ones folk want to play)

They were. Lor’themar exiled those that refused to use fel energy or living things to sate their addiction since he was afraid that allowing both factions to exist would be disastrous.

With that said, all elves (except VEs) are allowed pilgrimages to the Sunwell now that it’s been fixed.

Do you think there is no possibility that half elves could be a thing?

Remember the Sunwell was destroyed. M’uru’s core was used to reignite the Sunwell. Thus as one energy ceased, another replaced it (Holy).
