RealID - no. Battlenet - yes.
It won’t stop some of the more prolific trolls who just have multiple bnet accounts, but it will at least make it more cost prohibitive for some others. Another option would be to change how character ignore works - have it ignore and hide ALL characters on a bnet account, and make it easier to do (Click on the portrait > Ignore All Posts from this account forever)
Right now, trolls like to hide their profiles and force people to go through a 7 step process to ignore them. Many people are too lazy to do that.

Do you really think nasty people care about being outed as nasty people? Nop. Second, all you have to do is make up a fake name for your account and post away.
I’m pretty sure it started out that way and there was such a massive backlash that they quickly changed their minds. IIRC, the backlash included several incidents of actual doxxing.
the old forums did this, it was hilarious to put a new troll on ignore and notice all of their alts they posted on were also on ignore too. made it really easy to pick them out
the one troll in particular i remember doing this to, was it lunnaera or something? someone help me out, i’m getting old and forgetting names

i saw someone make a thread the other day with a name that was eerily similar and i thought “oh no don’t tell me they’re back”

It’s not like they can whisper your BTag without your consent. Unlike your character-server, anyone can add that to a friends list and whisper.
Anyone can add Xiata-Greymane to their friends list and spam you without your consent. BTag is more secure and does not share any personal information like RealID.

So you want to turn this forum back into the 10 people it is? That’ll be hilarious when people find out they were friends on a set of alts and enemies on another set of alts.
It would be interesting to see if every classic poster is truly the same person or not!

16 mins till I can give a heart again. The timing for hearts is so odd. Sometimes it’s 50 mins sometimes three hours.
I’m just not willing to lose something because of marshmallows and ppl with a vendetta. Those ppl are definitely not my kind tho

I get you. Blizzard needs to designate certain servers “Kid Friendly” so the rest of us can act like we’re on MG or WrA and say whatever we want.

Ok so to answer that, there’s been a slew of forum trolls popping up making ridiculous threads and even with your character, you can still see there are pets, meaning it isn’t a burner account.
For example that’s all your pets. Even though you’re hidden, I can still look you up by armory and with yourself having pets etc that are hard to obtain, even with low achievement points, you don’t look sus.
It isn’t so much worth while, it’s more along the lines of a suspected troll. There’s been at least 3 to 4 different folks alt hopping in order to troll the forums recently, and the pets / achievements allow for a person to check if it’s indeed said troll.
And I’m glad you pointed that out because I didn’t know that. I seriously had no clue that you could do that.
Oh I agree I was just explaining to the poster what real ID was cause they sounded confused about it.
And I do. The OP has shown in other threads that they toon hop in order to attempt to get a rise out of people.
The other forum poster, people have had a sneaking sus that it’s the OP using another bnet to post. Nothing definitive, however.
Just been seeing so much trolling going on in the last 2 weeks and weirdo things popping up (like the troll that used an alt in order to pretend to be a 17 year old girl claiming to be harassed and groomed in an attempt to troll the arena forums).

No. Hard no.
Why? It’s because of the trolls - I’ve experienced what a motivated one can do with a name and I’d rather that not happen again, to me or anyone else.
The internet’s not a kind place and I’d like to keep my relative anonymity please.
