Didn’t you say you’re on medication that can make you angry? I want to be more understanding sometimes it’s hard

Show me that.

Also HP, not biting, your type isn’t tasty enough, isn’t there a social contract post you need to be linking ducks in and deleting?

I have a better idea and unlike the previously unsuccessful one that you’re dragging in, does not compromise safety and privacy. The compromise of safety and privacy leaves the company and platform legally liable in terms of civil suits.

That said, my idea is that only one character per Bnet account be allowed to post in WoW forums. It is a simple and elegant solution that allows no opportunity for claims of unfairness.

Your Sanchopanza is also fantastic! What a couple! :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m happy to tell people that my name is Felicity, but I wouldn’t want anyone to know my surname; my family are the only ones in the world with that name, and I really would rather have my privacy, for myself and my kids.

I am happy that Blizzard knows my identity.

In Australia there will be (or now is) a legal requirement for all online platforms to know the full identity of their users, and so the federal gvt/ police/ authority can enforce companies like Google, Facebook et al to reveal identity in the cases of crimes. (Like stalking, extreme online abuse, threats etc.)

I think mob vengeance is unnecessary if companies like Blizzard are willing or compelled to take responsibility for the behaviour of their users.

Sunday was the 5th you numbskull.

We had a gigantic forum riot over this a long time ago. Real ID was universally opposed…so much so that when a mod outed his own name he was quickly doxxed and all of his information posted elsewhere, made an example of just to show what a disastrously bad idea it was.

And Blizzard backed off and have been terrified of the idea ever since.

Nobody needs to know that you’re in the Deciat system willing to modify commanders’ hyperdrives while talking about your days in the Coalsack nebula. We get it.

(Brownie points if you get the reference)

I thought you had written that recently.

No. I told you that earlier today as well. I say what I want.

As per the EULA we are required to use our legal names and address when registering a Battlenet account. If someone is ever locked out, forgets the email, password, has a compromised, needs to remove an authenticator etc… they have to prove they are the account holder.

This is not done with payment info generally - because anyone can pay for an account sub. I could pay for my family if I wanted and give them my payment info.

They use the Govt issued ID to prove account holders these days. The ID is partly covered and deleted after use in compliance with CA and Federal Personally Identifiable Information laws.

So, putting a fake name on an account is a HUGE risk.

EDIT - of course NONE of that should be on the forums. I want to use the Battletag system the rest of the forums use which is a player selected nickname. Avatar can be a selected character.

RealId sounds like a bad idea. What we need are mods that are active not reactive nor passive nor taking a Sunday off

You bring up a very good point. I know i wouldn’t want a random person at my house.

Could also lead to swatting too.

Or pushing an agenda.

I’m not the one to make duplicate or “look at me I made a redundant thread!!” because narcissism.

They all need to get rolled into one giant slimy megathread where they can go down in flames. At least until ad hominems and/or hatespeech occurs…which happens in nanoseconds.

The dream. I miss having CMs who were actively reading enough to know the regulars, interact, set a tone, do some moderation. It is left to the Mods who handle thousands of reports a day across all the forums and have no knowledge of posting patterns. This has greatly impacted the quality of the forums.
