Last one I got to know really well was Ystheins. It was something special to have that connection even if only brief. But, we kind of dug our own grave with the matter…seeing all the toxic behavior over the years get to mods.
Even without realID. I cannot image their job. It has to be exhaustive and difficult. I keep hoping for the old days to come back. Maybe Microsoft can change things…and I’ll be the ever optimist in some aspects

Post is probably a troll it has the vibe of one to me. But yeah if you were around the first time that was proposed by blizzard several years ago …yeah the forums melted in red hot rage I’ve not seen another topic do. For good reason I don’t want my real first and last name shown to random internet deviants if I have a say about it.
For 5 bucks you can search public records and get a lot of information on a total stranger.
I’ll pass.

That does not apply to the forums, in that people are not paying anyone under the table to do anything. There is no benefit to paying someone to unflag/ or penalize a post. It gains nothing.
Forum moderation is not known as a “corrupt” industry. They get paid to do a job. Enforce the rules in place. Period.

Surely. I’d add that some people here obviously do online “swatting”.
I googled the term mainly to check if it was one of the zillion “inappropriate” slang terms in English, and it seems it’s one of the few clean words. I also think I got it. Swatting = sending a SWAT.

Nice assumption you’re making there, projecting much? I was referring to how it’s cheaper to slash divisions and keep bare minimum staff, cowable, on hand while giving Bobby another yacht, then to keep well trained, well adjusted, competent staff on the paycheck.

He is awesome! Really fantastic human. Yes, I have met him and spent a bit of time with him. Humble, kind, funny, young but very open to learning a lot. So passionate about Blizz and gaming…then he got laid off in the 2019 cut and it devastated him. Yes, a some of us kept in touch and kept supporting and encouraging him. He landed on his feet and is doing well now

No, they shouldn’t do real ID but they should do Btag on the forums imo.
Imagine if you were diagnosed with cancer today (I’m not but js) - all this crap we spew on here would seem to insignificant and trivial.

You accused the mods of corruption vs doing their job. There is no corrupt influence paying them on the side to do something. They do the actual job they are paid for. Period.
Some are better than others, but the fact remains they don’t get under the table rewards for their work - which is what corruption implies.

Fun Fact; They wanted to do Real ID for forums back in WotLK/Cata before and scraped the idea when one of their CMs got Doxxed.
