I mean idk what to tell you. Its like being told “what happens if i can’t pay my rent”.
It sucks but you got in that situation somehow.
And trust me i don’t say that from a position of privilege. I barely avoided homelessness at some point and worked in the service industry for a decade until i finally turned things around a few years ago.
There’s reasons i value personal responsabilities and agency so much.
It’s not fine, actually. Both types ruin whatever destination they go to, just in different ways
On the one hand, the high-earning/rich Californian transplants jack up cost of living in the destination state(s) and “price out” regular people/locals from being able to afford a house. Then on the lower-end (among those “people without degrees”), the criminal and druggie types bring their crime and drugs to the destination state(s). Here in the Denver metro area various crime statistics are waaay up ever since all these unwanted out-of-towners started flooding here due to legal weed
As for the more average California transplants in the middle (the ones not super-rich/loaded and not criminal or druggie types), it could be argued those are still detrimental/bad for the destination state(s) because they simply vote for all the same failed policies, tax hikes, etc that previously ruined wherever it is they came from (they don’t 2 and 2 together that their voting is part of the reason why they had to flee their previous location)
If they ruined California that’s fine - just stay there and don’t ruin other places that are (were?) still intact/still affordable
It’s not as “harmless” as you might think, there are very noticeable negative effects especially if you’re a local/lived in an area for an extended period of time like me
I’ve never seen Denver-metro area go downhill like I’ve witnessed in the past 10 years or so with all these out-of-towners flocking here (post-legal weed)
I just did a quick search and plans in my area are $500-600 PER MONTH.
Most Americans get health insurance through their employers, but employers absolutely factor that cost in when determining salaries.
People have a salary they see, but to human resources, they’re looking at an “actual salary” that people don’t actually see.
(Why do Americans get health care through employers? It all goes back to world war 2, when businesses needed workers due to manpower shortages, but there were caps on salaries imposed by the wartime government. So they started looking at perks they could offer instead. One of which was health care.)

Well yeah its similar here. Just split differently. Employers have to pay CSST coverage still (which is the government entity that verse paiements if anything happens while on the job) while EVERYONE pays for general healthcare.
If you want to offer that Quebec program to folks here in the United States, I’m sure plenty of people would jump at that $800/year fee.
What an amazing bargain. Wish we had things like that, here.

Alongside nearly 50% income tax in higher brackets (read 100k which is considered rich here outside the Montreal area) 15% sales taxes etc.
Also a very bloated and inefficient system. Had to go to the ER a few weeks ago, cut myself when my drill tap stuck in a piece of aluminum which sent it spinning and hit my other hand, was a really dumb accident lol. Over 7 hours of wait time for 4 stiches. What’s the longest you were eve stuck in an ER room past triage?
As i said. Nothing’s perfect.
You sign up for affordable care act health insurance and realized you’re paying alot more than you think it would be
And then you blame at your president on why this is happening cause the ACA only helps people in poverty not for the average middle class
it’s hilarious that you think people now who currently can’t get any medical care aside from going to the ER would somehow be worse off under that system

i spent 16 hours in an ER once after triage right here in the good old US of A. watching a red line work its way up my arm due to a blood infection. great stuff.

Why would I? They get subsidized anyway.
preventive care is typically a lot cheaper in the long run but i guess if you’re somebody who’s only focused on next quarter that doesn’t seem important

Feel free to pay for them.

so they don’t want to go office and rather be at their home/apartment in their PJs. Ever since Covid came along, everyone either just don’t wanna work or just wanted to work from home.
The horror. I’m clutching pearls just thinking about it

I fully agree. There has to be a balancing act. It’s just that in the US, it’s far too skewed towards employers. They have their money-grubbing fingers in every aspect of government and have used that to suppress any worker’s rights reform for decades.
We need to shift that pendulum back towards balanced ground.

They’re trying to save some money on lay offs due to merger honestly with the excuse to fire employees if they don’t choose to move to a high cost of living area with low wages. They trying to incentivize people to leave and cut severance packages costs. That’s capitalism these days.
Not really. Alot of those positions apply to jobs outside of video games. Modeling for example is in high demand from everything to CNC workshops down to Jewelry fab. Hell i know people who make one hell of a side hussel just selling models they pumped out in Zbrush on sites like minifactory or cults.
