Emissary rewards are a bit much

Exactly. Casuals, show me the Treacherous Covenant trait on that ilvl 400 Emissary Reward Azerite piece that grants roughly 300+ main stat… Go ahead, I’ll wait. Raids are not invalidated.

If you think all Azerite pieces perform the same strictly by ilvl, you probably deserve to have full Bloodbough or Sirensong, whatever.

My mythic+ 420 shoulders don’t have as much Int as my Heroic BoD shoulders with Treacherous, no way I’m worried about faction azerite pieces.

That welfare gear with a high ilvl still won’t keep you in groups when you can’t perform. So get rekt I guess?

This completely.

Here is your problem.

Gear being easier to get months later doesn’t delete the gear off your character or invalidate your raid kill.

No… it pretty much invalidates the time/effort on your character by handing out heroic raid loot for free that takes not even .1% of the effort.

I am uncertain how gearing is such a concern for you, my fretful ferret. Being rewarded with gear is merely the icing on the cake, you are ignoring the entire cake at this point.

Do Mythic+ and Heroics because you enjoy the content, not the gear.

Why cant people do WQ and emissaries for the content and ignore the gear?

They can love, the Scrapper is ever at your disposal.

Ok, then why cant its gear stay where it was? Why go up for doing the same thing?

After I got some food in me I realized why im a bit miffed about it.

It’s about the character progression path is no longer about doing challenging content anymore. BFA has slowly made it so you do the standard character progression path, things like questing>dimgepms>(PVP or Raids). or wait it out long enough for the usual progression has become not needed anymore before current content has ended. BFA has pushed that notion to the the max in most cases.

Why do the leaves fall? It is in their nature; perhaps their is a better question?

Why does the gear of others invalidate your own accomplishments?

It doesnt i dont care what others have.

It feels bad to me when i kill a heroic boss after wiping for a while, get lucky enough to get an item, and its a downgrade/sidegrade to something i got by chopping down trees and autoattacking a warfront boss.

If nobody should care about gear than just make all gear drops 415 and be done. We could slow down power creep so much at the same time!

New raid comes out, all drops in the game are now 430. Perfect!

Love, there is the culprit of your woes. You have created a false sense of reality towards a reward system, and thus you feel undone by the content you partake in.

Take a moment and step away from the game. Perhaps you have allowed yourself to become to affixed on the illusion, rather than enjoying the reality.

P.S. My deepest apologies for all the edits love, the forums were being extra naughty.

This is why I quit retail. I spent weeks in the beginning of BFA leveling, running dungeons to get geared for raid. Then they release warfronts and drop gear equivalent to my ilvl so people can AFK-gear up.

I could not believe it. So many hours of farming only to be invalidated in a day.

I could have just leveled to 110. Then logged out for 4 weeks and log back in and had the same ilvl. Stupid me, what was I thinking putting in all that effort on my character.

The forums can be terrible, especially from a phone.

Getting stronger rewards for downing more difficult content is one of the most basic building blocks of an RPG and charactor progression. To throw that all away and say we shouldnt care is not a simple part of these styles of games.

When I create a D&D campain the party doesnt find a holy avenger in a barrel walking around town preparing to set off to the dragons lair. It would feel so cheap.

I just cant get on board with this new system of do the same WQ all expansion an keep getting better gear all the way up to equal with heroic raiding and mythic+10 drops.

For everyone upset about this change, try to remember that for non-raiders this is the only form of progression left in the game at max level. They stripped out everything else.

Emissary rewards are what we got to replace Badge/VP gear, which was also raid quality. So now instead of working towards fixed rewards we have to pull the lever over and over until the game stops giving us cloaks we don’t need for a chance at an upgrade of some sort.

I don’t think anyone is actually happy with this new Diablo-esque gear vomiting style of play but it’s all we got since they took out every other way of working towards power progression.

The issue is JP/VP used to be 2-3 slots of what would now be heroic.

Then 4-6 slots of normal.

And the rest was dungeon drops or such and catchup was to the previou tiers normal.

For example in ICC:

heroic 25 was 272

normal 25 & heroic 10 was 264

normal 10 was 256

You could very slowly get 2 slots of 264 items and some 256 tier. Also 2 245 from valor which was ToC 25 man and a full set of ToC 10man tier which was 232.

the ICC catchup dungeons were 232.

Now these new systems make all this other drop 264 equivalent.

It also happens so fast that they are stuck feeling like they need to bump the rewards so frequently.

I don’t care about gear progression just in general. All I want is enough gear to clear the raids on my main with my guild. That means all of normal, and a heroic boss or two.

More than that is asking too much of my schedule.

Sorry to break it to you all, but at this point, 400 gear is not current. This tier is over. M Crucible opens Tuesday. Patch 8.2 is already on the PTR.

M10 and Heroic are just names and numbers. Even Mythic is farmable by alts and sold for carries at this point. BoD released in January. Its April. The tier lasts for 2-3 months, then Hall of Fame is full and cross realm opens up. Blizzard has always released catch up mechanics at this point. They used to just nerf the raid by a given percent. Now they allow players to outgear the content.

You might think that they “invalidate” tiers quickly now, but Bod/ Crucible will last for 6 to 7 months. People went crazy when BT or SoO went on for 8 to 10 months and complained they didn’t come out with content fast enough. Blizzard legit cannot win.

I like this idea. There should always be different ways to get gear end game besides raiding and pvp bashing.
