Elune Cutscene Anxiety Thread

The Darktrolls started the whorshipping of Elune, even before they transformed, we know for an fact that its exist a time on azeroth, who many races worshipped elune as a goddess of piece and guidance.

But…indeed, the darktrolls, the ancestor of the night elves, are the first known and confirmed elune worshipper on azeroth from a mortal pov. (Expect freya, servants of freya and the green and red dragons and wildgods at this point, they all are confirmed to know elune and worship her in a…way)

And Sun, in a way, yes, but we don´t know for sure, odos could speak about a crazy fireelemental aswell…its possible, sure, but not confirmed.

So whenever something in a fictional setting takes inspiration from the real world, it should be a one for one exact copy?

Where has that been stated anywhere by anyone?

If you’re going to invoke and borrow from real life peoples, cultures, and religions, you have an obligation to do those themes justice and provide nuance.

Good, and bad.

You do if you care to be an ethical person who respect the real-world peoples you are using for your story.

Otherwise you’re just using entire ethnicities for your own benefit.

So what are you talking about today?

There are no “Real world peoples” in a video game story.

People are allowed to make whatever they want there are no obligations. if you want to make a walking poodle your main character with a pink axe for a tail you do that.

I am not “using” anyone. I would be borrowing from a public domain and using it as inspiration for a fictional story in a fictional place about fictional people.

Inspiration is not a one for one exchange. Borrowing from any culture doesn’t mean I am depicting those cultures.

Even then, no one is entitled to my creative process. The moment you start putting those expectations of people, you are stunting creativity and staking claim to their creations.

Nah because we exist in a globalized society and should be working towards a global standard of dignity and respect for all peoples, including in the creations done for the sake enjoyment

and so, for the ninth time:

If not for the sake of those peoples (which, weirdo) then for the sake of the game in providing an enjoyable, nuanced experience for everyone

it is, actually.

If you borrow from someone you are using their products.

You are materially using their culture.

And thus you should have the decency to treat it with respect and dignity.

That is not a good word to operate by.

Especially not when ordering others around.

What I am saying is that I dont appreciate the word “should”

Too bad.

We live in a society.

If you’re using other people’s heritage, the bare minimum expectation is to do it with dignity.

Absolutely not.

Culture is not something anyone alive created themselves. It is not a product. Most people are born into their culture. It is public domain because it is something shared by the public.

If I am telling a story, it is a story told by characters or a story about characters. Characters who are respectful and dignified or characters who are not. Regardless of the cultural inspiration I used to build the fictional society they live in.

Of course we do. But your opinions and thoughts thankfully dont dictate society.

An artist has to freedom to create whatever they want within the laws, as limited or extensive as the constitution allows.

However, you can be an absolutely horrible person but follow the law. Part of the reason for social pressure is to solve injustice in our society that isn’t technically illegal.
