Divine Toll is pretty useless for Holy also at the moment because Holy Shock can hit pets and things like monk statue. I reported this months ago but it still hasn’t changed so I’m not sure if it’s intended or not but if it is then Kyrian is dead for H Pally too.
But to answer your question, yeah Judgement is just worse than Avengers Shield by a lot. It doesn’t bounce, it doesn’t silence, it does mediocre damage, just really not worth it at all, even for AOE when you have the Venthyr choice that also gives AOE plus mobility.
That covenant is non existent because of the way covenants are currently designed. There are currently lots of covenant abilities that are flat out useless and unfun. Might as well not even get abilities from said covenants, because you’ll likely never use the ones they give you. That isn’t fun. Also, having an aesthetic/story I dislike isn’t fun either. Covenants shouldn’t affect gameplay in any way.
Everyone benefit from a better game.
I believe it’s more logical to #pulltheripcord than to keep covenants that are badly designed.
As I’m not completly agaisn’t the idea of covenants, just agaisn’t what I see on the beta.
But clearly you’re just in here to cause troubles I don’t think any arguments with you can end any other way than you trying to shove in people face : BUT COVENANTS WILL BE THERE ON LAUNCH xd
If you wanted to argue you wouldn’t just be launching personnal attacks and strawmans.
If it’s that easy then where’s the meaningful choice now? Terrible change.
Edit:
Thanks for the link Froom. Sounds like there is going to be more to it. I think it’s good to be able to switch but it should be a grind and not something you would do on a whim. It should be similar to switching between Scryers and Aldor… you can but you better be sure because it’s gonna be work.
I could easily see some cool Shadowlands intrigue where the covenants doubted the arbiter and thus they started forming a kind of network that superceded the ‘sorting hat named Arbiter,’ and appealed souls’ placements.
Also, perhaps they would need to communicate with the other covenants, otherwise (for example) how does Maldraxxus, the alleged military might of the shadowlands, know where possible incursions would come from within the covenant’s lands?
Although to be honest, an afterlife world needing a military seems a bit peculiar to me, but I’ll have to wait and see what’s up before
Edit to add: and I sincerely don’t know if they govern different aspects of death. At least, they seem to exist as different takes or philosophies on what the afterlife should be. But as to whom they’re governing, I guess il have to wait and see. Eg is it just the souls within their lands, or do they hope to extend their influence to the lands of the living - perhaps with the PC as their biggest advocate?
two days for a talent swap is a giant nerf, yes a nerf, to my style of play. I often get bored and want to try something new or dumb on a character to see what works, and often what doesn’t. I am not going to farm world quests for days so that I can risk being stuck in a worse spec for two days. I’m just going to play something else between raids or m+ instead of pushing my character to the limit and experimenting like I usually do.
I’m really looking forward to the 8.1 ptr so I can actually test my abilities out without arbitrary worthless grinding.
Again Turnberry.
TO ME, when you tell me Holyshock from Divine toll is targeting and hitting pets and monk statue (I’m assuming you mean the Ox one, since I can’t imagine why you’d be holy in a 5 man with a mistweaver.) that sounds like bugs and balancing isseus.
That’s why the ability probably seems useless to you. But if it actually hits the group, and can provide burst AoE healing with a glimmer build. Sounds pretty interesting and strong to me.
Sounds like a choice to make to me.
Your covenant is “better” for one spec, but is still decent for another. Just because it isn’t possibly BiS when compared to Venthyr (which was awful like 80% of this beta and just recently got changed…) doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. It seems useless in your fallacy of thinking that because there is a better AoE option, yours isn’t useful. Which isn’t the case. I might not be optimal, but again, that’s kinda the point.
I think that type of flavour is more interesting then just being able to pick anything and everything you want just because its a couple % better.
I kinda get that, but until I know how bad it is I want to make the point that two days is already far too long. As it is now its 20 seconds to a minute to swap my talents and azerite.
And that’s why the covenants are being soft locked. They don’t want you doing that, and people don’t want this continued spiral downward into ridiculous min max land where the average expectation is that we change everything about our character between pulls for maximum efficiency.
We’re going back to being an RPG, and you’ll probably need to live with it at least until 9.1. Or probably permanently if the majority of players don’t encounter huge issues with this new system.
So there isn’t one DK ability that seems fun to you?
That’s what you’re making me believe since you wont be able to pick one covenant because it’ll automatically make the game unfun for you.
In which case, that’s unfortunate.
Perhaps if none of the abilities are fun for you, Shadowlands might not be your thing. Since making them all open and available wont fix that for you.
No one is asking for the abilities of another class .
We are asking for just the abilities for the class we are playing at the time.
I don’t want the abilities my dk or warrior have for my hunter .I want the covenant hunter abilities for the hunter , the dk ones for the dk and warrior ones for the warrior.
Covenants are not the same thing as classes. They are glorified class halls that you rep grind like you were grinding rep for the court of Farondis.
As far as World Quests go, this is also timegated - Currently in the Shadowlands beta, you can only have a maximum of 5 World Quests available at a time in your zone, if you have War Mode on and are lucky that the PvP World Quest is currently in that zone. Because of this, it is assumed that it will take a minimum of two days of work to complete this first step.
wtf? I hope this is just a beta thing. Covenant switch requirements aside, imagine how utterly slow and frustrating it will be to get alts caught up in gear. Even now with all the world quests available I still have several waiting for one armor slot that refuses to pop. With only 5 WQs at a time: R.I.P. from waiting.
Where’s the precedent for a system like covenants? Aldor/Scryer? Are we gonna compare a shoulder enchant to soulbinds, signature ability and class ability? What are we ‘going back to’ with covenants?
I like how you’re trying to put words in my mouth. I enjoy gameplay and I enjoy aesthetic. If I am forced to have gameplay or aesthetic I don’t enjoy, the game will not be fun. With gameplay tied to aesthetics through covenants there is a tiny chance that the aesthetic I enjoy will coincide with the gameplay I enjoy. The easiest, and best imo, solution is to make gameplay systems and covenants separate. Covenants shouldn’t affect gameplay in any way.
