Echoing void needs an AOE nerf on tanks

Tank doing more damage = tank gaining more threat.

Ummm to do so, they will nerf the corruption proc, yes, like infinite stars. They have already done one pass of nerfs to it, but it’s still not enough.

This has happened before lol… Not usually all five slots, but you know.

It’s not about that, quit parroting that dumb banter… When you actually get around to doing some real progression on content, you’ll know why things like this are a problem.

Tanking isn’t about doing big zomgpewpewsplosion dps. It’s about surviving, not letting people die and setting the pace of things(if youre in a dungeon). Like I’ve said before, I tank a lot. I’m fine with doing far less dps than an actual dps. The fun for me is knowing that I paced the group properly though a high key and that we timed it. Knowing what to pull and when to pull is an accomplishment.

It already does this.

Why do people want powerful things nerfed in PvE? Isn’t this game based around getting powerful items? If someone gets something extremely powerful, you should be happy for them and if they’re in your group, they’re making your run much easier!

I can maybe understand getting mad about it in PvP.

Not the way you think. If a pulse is supposed to do 50k damage, then on five targets, you’re saying that it should do 10k damage to each. Which would mean it would still do the same 50k damage. This isn’t the case. Go try it out and you’ll see.

If this were the case, then it would do the exact same damage on single target vs aoe, which it doesn’t.

Corruption will probably not make it in Shadowlands, or they will obviously make somechane to it, untilthen, let’s have some fun with what we have.

It’s only fun if you get the gear. Either give it to everyone or nerf it. Enough of this RNG nonsense.

Have you tanked recently? Maximizing dps is a decent chunk of our gameplay these days since Blizzard saw fit to gut every tank a while back.

I’d definitely trade a big portion of the dps for a return of the utility/self sustainability though. Here’s hoping for SL.

For some strange reason all the top dps corruptions are the exact same, total hp based ones as the tank, like Echoing void ST 2% of hp, Twilight devastation AOE 18% of hp. :thinking:

Nope, that is clearly fun detected, just because you don’t have it doesn’t mean you should remove it from other people.

Get polearm from Hivemind and you will be HAPPY.

Do you not realize one move of good tanks is to mass pull and AoE things down, I.E. their single target DPS is supposed to be fair-good, but they tend to shine in AoE situations.

No nerf is needed for the AoE, If DPS are complaining about tank AoE DPS, then they need to shut up and see if maybe another one of their specs is better suited for AoE. It should come down to DPS single target DPS>tank single target DPS and DPS AoE DPS>tank AoE DPS.

However, tanks are, again, built for AoE with a lot, if not all, abilities being either cleaves or pure AoE. Of course they are going to top DPS meters if most DPS are more single target based.

Thing is, once you are surviving the content you are doing, you do better going for more DPS. There are reasons why mythic raid tanks, and high M+ tanks, use DPS enchants, gems, essences, etc. A tank that goes for pure survival will find themselves with threat issues and getting kicked from groups due to DPS not being able to unload like they need to in order to progress.

As would more of us, I think tanks need to be the right balance of DPS and utility/self sustainability, and currently the set up seems to be heavily focused on the DPS after a certain point.

Yeah, I guess another alternative would be to just cut the % for tanks in half or do some math to figure out how much health they would have in a non-tank spec and use that.

Kind of like the CnS thorns talent where it does % damage back to enemies based on their health. Except for bosses, it still hits as though you’re fighting a 280k health mob.

Stop with the damn caps lock spam. Yes, it was nerfed by 20% as an early nerf while they figure out what to do with it. Mostly for single target damage. In theory, if I had R3 of it on my havoc spec, it would still be my largest damage source (according to sims) for single target at around 12% of my overall damage and is roughly a 14% increase to my dps vs not having it. The 20% nerf was specifically for THAT reason.
