Make the Water Strider exempt from benefiting from mount equipment, like the Shredder Golem will be, and let it keep the water walking perk by default.
Makes sense, offends nobody, the mount loses a lot of power compared to live. It’s dumb to have a water striker without built in water walking. That would be like needing an Airborne equipment so my wind rider could…ride the wind.

ion had a personal vendetta against the water strider. this whole debacle was their abatement to defacto stop everyone from using it. next after this goes live they will use the equipment to further gate travel.

yeah, unfortunately this is another case where Blizzard stubbornness will prevent them from making an easy fix, instead of literally just like they’re doing with the Sky Golem.

I have no problem with this.
People are crazy if they think flying isn’t going to tie into this eventually.

I agree.
Because as it stands now, the water strider (without the equipment) makes about as much sense as the 6-month-sub boat that doesn’t float.

I’d like this as an option, but it was pointed out to me last night that the folks who may not be happy with this option are those who like the water strider for its appearance but not necessarily it’s current function. They’d miss out on the ability to use an alternate equipment item on it.

I believe the reasoning presented for this is so you can’t have one mount for riding around everywhere else that’s daze-resistant and then just stopping to switch to a water strider for when you want to ride across water…essentially “double dipping”.

Wait… what? I’m out of the loop on this one. What’s the outrage?
This would make the ww equipment dead on arrival. Don’t try fixing what isn’t broken.
Just like Ion. Surprise, surprise.
They think they are losing something, but they don’t.

You realize if they don’t take waterwalking from the strider baseline, you can just use it whenever you want, completely ignore 1/3 of your choices for equipment, and just negate every player choice we’re finally being given some freedom to make, right?

So they are taking the uniqueness of one mount that takes a while to get via grinding and offering it’s benefit to all mounts… I have mixed feelings about this.
I didn’t play at all during MoP but I went back during WoD and grinded out that mount. Now it’s pointless I see.
ok…

They are nerfing a mount that has been dominant since wod. A mount that people are complaining about since wod and that they are trying to remove it since wod.
This is not really hard to grasp

They kinda already fixed it. They said that you don’t need to be 100 to use the perks- you just need a level 100 character to unlock said perks, and then you can equip waterwalking shoes on any of your level 20+ characters.

how is that fixing anything?
that’s exactly what was announced…
