They are just fixing the dominance of it by allowing all other mounts to have the same effect.

The issue most people had is that it took waterwalking mounts away from pre-100 characters. Now it doesn’t.

It always amazes me when people complain about a change and then miss the point of why the change was put in… in the first place. By recommending something that would basically invalidate the reason Blizzard decided to do this in the first place.

As someone who was on the forums when it was announced, it definitely was an issue, then they later took to twitter to clarify the nature of the change.
This seems like a safe bet. I would personally point to extreme confirmation bias aka how can I twist this into something bad. Some of them are really creative, and have like a chain of 3 or more speculations.
odd, because i was here… and didn’t see anything of the kind.

The new Mount Items only work on lvl 100+ characters. Why make leveling new chars even more annoying?

And yet, we can have a mount that picks herbs and then swap to one with water walking.

if you head to the vendor where you bought a Water Strider, you’ll be able to buy more of this item for a greatly reduced price as an advantage for those who already have the Water Strider.

alright well reduced pricing and with gold inflation, it should be no problem for many players to purchase saiditem.
it’s more the principle.
people earned a thing.
after earning it, they’re now being told they need to pay to continue to use it.

Again? You would think they would have learned when they spread the false sub numbers.
What? If the strider keeps water walking, but is EXEMPT from the daze/slow fall, you now have to choose between swimming on your horse and negating daze, or walking on your strider and risking the daze.
Still a choice with consequences.

The strider nerf’s goal is not to give you choices with consequences, it is to fix a massive issue present in the game since wod. Making the strider able to ww would make the ww equipment dead on arrival. No one would have a reason to purchase it unless they don’t know about it or are too lazy to obtain it.
