Not at all.
First off, part of the fun of Twinking is seeing how far you can take it. It’s a personal Challenge.
Some are satisfied only going so far, using only what they can get.
It’s like Soap-Box car racing. Half the fun is in building the Car.
Second, there is no “optimal build” at lower lvls. That only exists at max lvl.
There are many different possible builds, depending on what gear you choose.
And Third, “Skipping all the Farming” is the stupidest reason I’ve ever heard.
If I wanted to play Uniform Characters with no variation, I’d be playing Fortnite or Overwatch.
this is theorycrafting dude, in other sports you call it a formula. however at 19 this pretty much doesn’t exist, and there is little to be had at 29 and 39.
imo the most exciting bracket for theorycrafting would be the 119 bracket, just because you will have the mix of the 115 legion leggos and a few bfa azerite traits.
i don’t remember if it was this thread or the other one, but i made the same point, on their end the complaint was that pvp at cap is too hard because mains apparently require you to “spend countless hours running pve content to stay on the cutting edge”. the twink’s argument is that they should be able to build a toon and be done with it, templated gear does that, but requires no effort on your part. it has the benefit of perfectly balancing pvp the same way templates did, allows noobs to learn, and doesn’t require 9001 runs of shadowfang keep.
Twinking doesn’t “Require” any such thing. The Gear you get from dungeon runs are, at best, within 1-3% difference in Performance from BoAs and Dungeon rewards and can pretty much be ignored and still be competitive. MOST Twinks don’t even bother. I personally ran ONE Dungeon a COUPLE times to get ONE Piece, not because it was BiS but because particular build I was running. If I didn’t get it, I would of moved on but luckily, it dropped early.
We don’t Twink because we HAVE TO but because we WANT TO.
And we want to see the product of our efforts.
If end game was all that Mattered, Blizzard should just do away with Lvls all together and just let us roll Max lvl characters. But that’s no fun, for anybody.
This is the same reason I refused to play my DK.
Boring as Hell with no character and no personal investment in it.
why not? amored core had growth, unlocking parts, skill, and build theory all without levels. it’s certainly possible. realistically i think we are in need of a level squish, cap everyone at 60 and just go by ilvl from there. but, if you look at 120 pvp, there’s no xp, and you can build your character out stronger if you want. the same things that you get from twinking are still available at 120. in fact using the twink model of sourcing the best gear from wherever gives you a leg up over the never-PVErs because this expansion’s gearing model favors a diverse mix of content.
They would need something in place to gain some strength for your character like they had in Legion at max level. Was small, but the higher ilvl the more power you had. Though it was still a minimal difference.
Just as an update: I’ve ran into 12 people last night at level 64 who were missing at least one item and were still queueing into battlegrounds and dungeons.
they never joined a guild to buy the heirloom pants? if you level fast enough you will run into gearing issues. my friend and i used to powerlevel together and we would hit 70 still with some starter zone whites and missing pieces.
Thanks for the report! I’m impressed you have a ring already!
My leveling must be a bit different than yours.
As an undead, I kill every rare in Tirisfal Glades to level 10. Kill every rare in Silverpine to 15. Theres about 1/4 chance I get any gear thats relevant to my class doing this. Then I’ll start questing, so I’m looking at 5-6 quests before hitting 20.
Theres gotta be a reason why we see so many people undergeared, because even with our leveling methods we are still getting solid enough gear. As I said, there were people in the 60s missing peices, so I’m not sure if they’re picking up characters on accounts that had previously been hacked and wiped out or what.
You can fill most of the slots he filled without doing a dungeon, and before level 20.
On Alliance in Elwynn, clothies are easy to do. You get bracers, boots, a belt, and chestpiece just from doing parts of Eastvale. You get legs and a weapon from gnolls/hogger. In both areas, the quests that reward gear can be done at the same time, so it’s not difficult, and you should have collected enough cloth by then to make a pair of gloves.
There are a few problem slots if you don’t have heirlooms (get some at Darkmoon Faire) or leveled professions. Basic rings are available. Yeah, you might actually have to make them (not hard) if they are overpriced on AH. The early rings only require like level 10 or so in jewel crafting and a small amount of copper.
Professions are part of the flavor in an MMORPG. Might help people make a little gold too, so they can afford enchants.
You’ll still be undergeared if you’re brand new (but how many brand new players do we really have leveling from 1?), but it’s way better than white gear that has zero stats. In a few minutes, just doing quests that will get you to level 10, you can have most if not all of your main pieces.
