Dungeons have become a soulless, anti-social dopamine farm

Dungeons used to be a little difficult because every now and then you’d find a toxic person that would bring everybody down. But now it really does seem like people just want to run run and it’s pretty annoying. Like when I was doing remix and trying to do the Jade serpent dungeon people kept skipping one of the bosses and made it impossible to get the quests finished on a new character. I would have to wait during that one really long water fight so I could type in really quick and beg people to kill the library boss just so I can turn into one Quest. Although I would say probably my worst dungeon experience was between Mists and warlords, I went in as a balance druid on damage, DPS back, and I was kicked out because I wasn’t healing people even though I was listed as a DPS in the roster. Truthfully I think the problem with a lot of dungeon runs is some of the people aren’t necessarily morons, they’re just kind of stupid sometimes. And I’m including myself in that statement, I’m not saying I’m some kind of super genius or anything like that because sometimes I make mistakes too

Speed is nothing like crack!

or hear me out they designed them for people who complained that 40 min dungeon runs were too long… if you ran early seasons in DF you would know why this change was made.

That’s the way random dungeons have been for some time. People are either doing dungeons for XP (leveling a character) or in the case of heroics, people are doing it to get gear. In both cases, the faster you get the dungeon done, the more XP or more gear you get. That’s the mindset most players have for random normal and heroic dungeons. When M+ dungeons are available, people will be forced to slow down and interrupt mobs and do boss mechanics.

there’s dopamine in dungeons? i never find any of that in my loot when i go there…

I hear ya man. Unfortunately, I think the best we can hope for is just more solo content at this point. Solo or duo content so we can play retail our own way. They probably are not gonna change the current paradigm. The game is either extreme cringe cozy or tryhard meta hell

WoW players really do act like wrath and classic came out last year

To be fair, people enjoy games differently. The way you enjoy them is different from how they enjoy them. Their enjoyment is derived from efficiency. And it’s not a kind of happy-go-lucky enjoyment, it’s more of the enjoyment one gains from finishing off a to-do list.

I think dungeons should get rid of most trash and just have a couple of groups in between the boss fights.

If I want a more engaging experience, I play classic. But retail can’t fit classic into it. It is a completely different game.

Yeah no that’s not it at all. Ever wonder how the guy in charge of all the cubicle crawls and Cosby suites and every other shenanigan was able to keep his job when everyone else got fired or left. Tokens.
I don’t drink wow koolaid it’s the truth

Back then mate, people hadn’t marinated in the internet’s self importance for 2 decades, which is what we deal with now.

If you want the above experience you need to find people of similar mindset, they are there, they’re just hiding from all the crazies.

Ask in chat, put it out there what you want, see if others want it too.

Except there’s been people asking for solo progression content, and stuff they can do quickly in and out without having to be on anyone else’s schedule for years. It’s content for them.

What blizz can’t do is force everyone in random pugs to play exactly how each individual prefers. If someone wants a particular speed or RP, or chatty drinking runs, they have multiple avenues to find others like that too. If they’re going to insist on only using random queues because it’s convenient and comes with a bribe, they get what they get from who fills.

your drinking some sort of Kool-Aid that’s for sure with these conspiracy theory’s

Yeah and also This issue is because of the level/gear treadmill and lack of content. Normal dungeons have end-game pushers who don’t want to be there and just want to play end game. At end game, M+ pushers are literally locked out of content for 2 more weeks but still need gear so that means youre stuck with them. Then because of upgrade system i is ideal to grind low dungeons for stones so your still stuck with them. In an ideal game, I wouldn’t need to trespass into lower or other content to play. I would just be able to play what I want.

Tbh this is largely another reason why MMOs as a whole are struggling. Most other game dont have a list of pre-req’s you need before you can play. You want to play? you sign in, hit find match and play and this style of quick feedback has became the norm and expectation for multiplayer games.

Wow doesn’t like to let players enjoy the game their own way, they also force you to play together.

For me (granted, I am healing 90% of the runs) it’s far less about getting the dopamine hit and more about getting out so I can get into the next one as I mindlessly grind Valorstones…

That seems, almost verbatim, what OP is complaining about.

Need to tell blizz to rework upgrades. The optimal way to play is to blow through low content to get end content gear. How does that make sense.

You keep up the good cheerleading for the pay to win savior Ion!

It’s what the players wanted.

Time and time again the playerbase has shown that they are their own worst enemy.

OP is in full control of his own gaming experience, blames blizz and everyone else for being too lazy to make it a reality.

Make your own group.

Just do what I do introduce yourself at the start of a run with a weird roleplay intro. We in dark flame crest? Well guess what here is my lore about how I’m gonna end the candle king because he knocked up my girl
