Dungeons are run like people are on crack. As if their family is going to die if they don’t reach the last boss in 10 minutes. I rarely see people actually enjoying in this content, just grinding it to desperately get a hit of dopamine. Rarely getting to the end without getting upset with the people they are playing with.
Just to keep up, people of course use things like WeakAuras and Hekili to find that perfect rotation instead of enjoying the class. Other tools that are against ToS have become rampant too, however, their use doesn’t seem to carry any repercussions. The point being: Many setups are largely automated., thoughtless, boring.
As a result of the desire for crack-like speed, aversion to CC and planning, the mobs are always benign and uninteresting. Boss mechanics are largely boring with mechanics are both re-used and overly broadcast.
I remember pugging groups in WotLK and cata. It was tough, sometimes we had to use CC and plan things. We wiped, laughed, cried and made friends with people who were strangers only 30 minutes ago. Nothing was perfect but it was fun! This is all gone now.
Blizzard’s answer was to give us WoW Classic which was fun in it’s own way, however, because the content was so dated at that point, everyone was min-maxed and it become an AOE farm again.
Dungeons have become a soulless, anti-social dopamine farm.
Time to go run some delves by myself for subpar loot. Peace.
I think the chances of a random heroic via the LFG tool being a fast burn are high. If you want to smell the roses, you prolly need to find like-minded folks rather than hope to land in a group of them randomly.
Dopamine is known as the “feel-good” hormone . It gives you a sense of pleasure. It also gives you the motivation to do something when you’re feeling pleasure. Dopamine is part of your reward system.
I agree. This expansion has really taking it up a notch. You can fault the player base which would be valid, but really the problem is with the design. I tend to believe it is intentional to keep players engaged and on that mystical treadmill.
I do not see it ever improving and will probably lead to a lot of player burnout over time.
Dungeons are the worst experience WOW has to offer. It will worsen as the expansion continues unless it’s addressed. The population numbers for dungeons especially for M+ will drastically decline to record lows.
I couldn’t agree more. How people find bull rushing a dungeon, fun, I’ll never understand. Needing to have a strategy to deal with certain pulls is what use to make dungeons fun.
Now, because the tanks can basically survive on their own now, this is what we have to play with.
It doesn’t bother me as much as it used to because if I want to slow down and take my time I’ll do a follower dungeon.
Largely though it doesn’t bother me especially when leveling as I’ve done the four leveling dungeons numerous times over the past week so more XP quicker isn’t going to cause me any stress.
No , Blizzard messed up by how easy these dungeons are to get through. The way we are flying through these dungeons, you’d think we are at the end of the expansion already.
People will say delves and follower dungeons are the “answer,” but all it signals to me is that Blizzard would rather add antisocial content than make the social/group experiences in their MMO more enjoyable. If I wanted a solo dungeon crawler, there are numerous other games I’d rather play.
