Almost every pack of mobs have at least 2 of those, and sometimes things like massive AoE damage, healing absorv, boss mechanics overlaping with affixes, etc.
Replace the word dungeon with literally anything. That’s a meaningless statement.
Mass aoe damage is by design, it’s to prevent healers from being bored.
Oh no.
2 mechanics.
Much complex.
As a melee, i find most packs of mobs dont have a dispel, immunity, defensive, crowd control, stack mechanic.
The occasional watch your feet and interrupt.
So dungeons are actually fine, you just don’t want to learn anything about them, so they seem complex?
There are two options really, play the game (to understand), or just do something else. (And wow ceases to matter.)
Rocket science isn’t complex if you understand it.
Brain surgery isn’t complex if you understand it.
Astrophysics isn’t complex if you understand it.
Why don’t you just take the time to learn this stuff?
I think there is a difference in quantity and something being complex.
If I get stung by 20 bees, the bees stings arent complex.
I am not sure I would call any dungeon mechanic complex. They are all rather simple. If we want to argue there are too many, I am open to discussing it.
So are you against the concept of depth in a video game?
Can just play cookie clicker or something, but even that has a speedrun meta probably.
The clicker games I’ve taken a casual interest in, have entire reddits dedicated to strategies sometimes.
I wont change your mind and u wont change mine; IMO these dungeons are not fun. Devs put some new mechanics that we did not had before, making dungeons more annoying and exausting; but i’m glad that you and 4 more ppl here are having fun.
What do you think is actually new?
Why would they? Realistically why would they design around such a small minority?
There’s also accessibility options, and the arachnophobia filter. And multiple difficulty levels too.
I am not trying to convince you they are fun or not.
But if we cant have honest feedback with specific examples, its not going to change anything.
I dislike court of stars redux. City of threads part 2. But that’s nothing new… because we’ve seen something similar before.
Dungeon designs are really fun. The fact that it scales and becomes more imperative to perform the mechanics or else you fail is also great. It allows players to find their skill level and push themselves to beat the next level. It rewards a sense of satisfaction to iron out the dungeons to a point you can perform higher than you could before.
I mean if you can’t do it because of medical reason, you can’t do it.
But the % of the population that this affects is literally miniscule. I’m not saying they don’t matter. It just doesn’t make sense to design something thats for millions around a few thousand.
It’s telling that you didn’t respond to a genuine request to discuss it.
This is just the usual.
I also am of the impression that there are so many different abilities because within those it’s easier to create layers of difficulty as well. An interrupt becomes more important as you get to harder levels, but beyond that you must also have something else to do? So you start to stun an enemy casting something as much as you can. All of a sudden something else becomes more dangerous and you must handle it. What’s next?
It creates that dance you speak of but it’s fluid.
My issue with it is more that some classes are just not designed for the content that they make now. I like playing priest, but I refuse to do it until they make design it to fit in modern pve content. Not having an interrupt, having to hard cast often, and lacking in defensive options is unforgivably bad design for m+ in particular. I don’t even dislike a lot of the mechanics, but you can actually ruin your enjoyment of a key if you carelessly make an interrupt light group in the wrong key, for example druid tank priest healer + shadow priest, balance druid, and let’s say any other ranged that isn’t an ele shaman in necrotic wake. Just have fun on amarth.
It also comes in different forms like resto shaman being dominant despite not being particularly strong for healing in pure hps as shown by its raid performance. Its also played a part in prot pally now and vdh in s4.
Aside from that the change to make stops not effectively stop casts, and how early we reach the point where random bolt spells can outright kill a player is also just unpleasant.
I can’t stand addons for fights, they just add clutter and noise. Having text appear on my screen, or 10 bars counting down, or ‘PING’ ‘PING’ ‘BWWWWOOOOOWOP’ ‘GET OUT!’ ‘RUN AWAY’ all of that is so loud and hard to focus. Doesn’t take much attention from me to see the boss casting the move out mechanic so I move out.
Some people do better with a more personalized addon system like that, and I’m glad they have that option.
