Take personal responsibility and stop blaming the game. You are a better player than 15 years ago, you have better equipment than 15 years ago, you have a better internet connection that 15 years ago. Surprise, Real Vanilla is easier.
Personal responsibility for what? I’m not blaming anyone I’m polling yes or no like the thread asks…
Quite a lot of assumptions there but OK. I have always had top-tier equipment and WoW wasn’t my first rodeo. It was easy - and I played 300ms from Aus - I never implied it was overly hard, but it certainly wasn’t this Classic experience. Random greens are random.
I’m not saying this as a point to make dugeons harder.
But that “players had become pros” is just a tidbit overplayed card on many kinds of topics.
Many of us weren’t young teenagers even 15 years ago. Back then there were as many brain using players as there are now. The game didn’t require two high degrees to be played back then, same as now.
Sure the info required less time to be found now, but that’s about it.
I know you’re going to think/say i’m trolling and you don’t want to hear this but.
The reason you think it looks like LFR. is because that’s about how hard these dungeons were LFR level ( depending on what LFR version you’re talking about), once you have decent gear they become rather simple they were never Darksouls, wow was never ‘‘the darksouls of mmo’s’’ it was always the casual take your time easy breezy (covergirl? what?) mmo.
(i couldn’t help myself.)

The problem is most of these players were young back then and had never played an MMO before. Because they played appropriately so and keyboard-turned, squealed in Vent, back-pedalled, didn’t bind and couldn’t organise themselves/learn the game relatively quickly in their eyes everyone must have played like that.
Now when we say it looks easier now than before they assume it’s because we all played like that but now they’re pros and “yOuRe DiSrEmEmBeRiNg”.
You can’t really take the opinions of those with the loudest voices (the streamers) seriously on anything since majority of them were like 10 years old and/or didn’t even play Vanilla. They are regurgitating disinformation to defend Classic taking the safe 1.12 route.
WoW wasn’t overly difficult either back then but there’s a pretty obvious leap between what I tongue-in-cheek referenced as real Vanilla (1.0/1.1) and 1.12.
Original Vanilla players remember 1.1-1.4 with threat and CC playing a greater role among other things and are viewing 1.12. That’s the other reason there’s such a disconnect and disagreement over the difficulty.
This may seem like wishful thinking but from experience I’m pretty sure 40+ instances start to definitely ramp up in difficulty. At least I believe so and it definitely seems plausible.
We’ll be finding out tomorrow. Personally, I don’t think it’s going to get much more difficult. I watched Quin’s group aoeing 1/3 of SM GY in single pulls.
Raids actually seem like they may be at least a bit harder in classic. I do agree though that the hardest bit was the farming pre-hand and getting together non mentally handicapped.
yeah i think the dungeons in wow when it first released WERE more difficult. I do remember them to be challenging. But then later patches came along and… Thanks for giving me the heads up about 1.12, i guess that lowered the difficulty? Just seems silly to me to rush people to the end . The great part about the original experience to me was the difficulty and the journey to the end . Not being rushed as quickly as possible to the raid
Snutz is using Eye of Killrog to pull 8-10 elites in SM library and AOEing them down in less than 10 seconds. His pants, gloves; belt and bracers are all broken.
“Retail dungeons are AOE snoozefests, in Classic you’ll have to be methodical and cunning to defeat these sinister, difficult dungeons.”
No, it’s a recreation of 1.12. It’s not the overall Vanilla experience. Vanilla already was very straight forward. 1.12 is making that game even easier.
Classic and Vanilla are 2 different things. Classic is a museum of the latest version of Vanilla. It does not encompass (or get as close to) Vanilla as a whole.
Not just mid level dungeons, but with 1.12 MC, BWL, and to a lesser extent AQ40, will be trivialilzed. Before the 1.11 tanking changes, we were all threat capped.
As for the rest of your posts and saying how people got better at the game. In general you are correct. But not all of us were pimply little kids when Vanilla hit. Some of us are still around waiting for Classic. We may not have the time due to more important things, but we do know what the authentic overall Vanilla experience was. 1.12 isn’t it. Classic isn’t it.
