Dungeon Debuff for the boot

I took a Dungeon Debuff after getting kicked out of the instance I was in. I though you only got those for going AFK or leaving voluntarily, as the debuff says, “You have abandoned your group…”
I don’t feel that it was very fair that I was punished for the thoughts and opinions of others, on how they didn’t like they way I played. Please remove it and I would like the rewards and exp I would have gotten for finishing that instance.

You can incur the deserter debuff if you are removed before a minimum time frame, or before you kill one boss. Being kicked does not provide immunity from the debuff, and has not for a long time.

Correct.

The debuff only used to apply to folks who left voluntarily but it seems there was a lot of abuse where the person who wanted to leave the dungeon/raid would simply exhibit bad behavior in order to encourage others to remove them. That way they could jump out of the group without being penalized.

I’m sorry, Aga, but the debuff will need to tick down normally and as you did not remain in the instance, you do not qualify for any of the rewards that you may have received. Our staff would be unable to assist here.

If you wish to see a change to how the debuff system works you are welcome to post in the Dungeons, Raids and Scenarios forum. Understand though, this has been in place with a good deal of success for a while now, it is unlikely to be removed without a lot of player support and a better idea to take its place.

Just wanted to apologize if my post was a bit over the top.

Thank you, Darthwraith. I removed it because it felt accusatory when I feel we should recognize the frustration that some of these situations may cause, maybe explain why it is the way it is (as not everyone is familiar with the ins and outs of a system) and offer some options when we can.

Maybe…

If you want to post feedback the dungeons raids and scenarios forum is best. The debuff is applied to keep people from holding a group hostage. If this is happening a lot, you might think of what you can do to better mesh with the group…

Words without the tone and inflection behind it can be difficult. I often have to rewrite a sentence, sometimes entire paragraphs, to better convey what I mean as some verbiage can sound more aggressive than you may mean.
