Dual Spec solves Tank shortage

honestly if they added dual spec and it costed like 2k gold i’d instantly buy it, I main protection and would love to swap arms for pvp, but paying 100g for a night of arms pvp in a crappy auction house blue set isn’t really worth it.

if youre respeccing “for a night of arms pvp” you’re doing it wrong. or do you only play 3 days a week?

Correct. Any arguments regarding “gold sink” died during WoW Classic when folks were (and still are) readily buying gold.

This means real-life money = you’re rich and can afford whatever you want in WoW and gold sinks matter. Everyone who plays the game fairly is put at an economic disadvantage.

In light of the wow token, which is essentially Blizz conceding they can’t stop gold selling, who can even say what ‘fairly’ is? Normally you’d say the proprieter is the one to define the rules, but they’ve abdicated and basically admit their patrons are steering.

fixed that for you.

Dual spec or not im still almost never going to tank for random pugs

That’s nice that you tank for all. I know tanks who are at the point of refusing to take pugs because of how bad they are on average.

Also, if dual spec fixes the tank shortage, why does retail still have a tank shortage with over a dozen changes designed to fix it?

It’s not going to fix it but it will alleviate it.

Dual spec would be used more with mages swapping between DPS specs than tank classes swapping between tanking and heal/dps.

Not by a noticeable degree.

It might turn an hour and a half wait to 1 hour 25 min, but it won’t make a huge difference.

People who want to tank are already tanking. Most will use dual spec to make a pvp and pve spec, we saw this in wrath. The wait times for tanks didn’t change much when dual spec was added.

More people were pvping because the pve crowd could now effectively pvp with no real cost.

If the argument was dual spec will noticeably increase pvp participation, I would be agreeing with you on that point. But it doesn’t make much difference in the tank shortage.

i know im only one player, but it would increase the amount of tanking i do. take that for what its worth (nothing)

i dont like you

Glad you informed me about this tank shortage…Because I have yet to encounter it myself. I leveled 2 up to 70 so far and have a hand full of classes pushing through classic on a fresh account and have not had problems with this at all. And im on a PvE server. And I know for damn sure people who aren’t boosting are dungeon crawling to avoid the relentless ganking on PvP servers. What im seeing is actually a huge number of tanks and healers. With the a massive influx of Pallys that are all stuck either getting carries or going it the hard way since you can’t boost

What im really curious to know is if you feel like its an issue why not reach out to the community and find people you can setup times with to just do runs and not have to worry about pugging. Or start implementing your friends list and pack it with whatever you roles your feeling you arent able to cover

It doesn’t change anything for those who don’t get it. This it the same argument people made for world buffs and the drum nerf. Please save me from my evil guild leader because I have no spine and can’t say no. World buffs weren’t a problem for casual guilds because they didn’t stack them. Casual guilds didn’t need the drum nerf because they weren’t going to force everyone to switch to lw for raids. No evil guild leader could force us because we can say no and find another guild.

It’s amazing to me how weak you people are. Why can’t you just say no or find a casual guild? But if you’re spineless there’s an easy solution to your personal problem with dual spec in raids that has bee posted here every time someone makes this complaint. If you had the ability to read you’d know what it is. Just require it only be changed in a major city and be on a cool down. Then you won’t have to knuckle under to your evil guild leader if he tries to force you to have two raid specs

We get that you claim to be in a guild where you’re so popular that tanks are begging you to dps for them and if you’re to busy they have to pug. Putting aside that you’re a known liar here not all guilds can find enough tanks for the dps in their guild. Because the tank and healer shortage affects many guilds as well as pugs

Eh, I think it might tend to devalue anyone that doesn’t buy into it, since all else being equal, a player with two optimized pve specs is much more versatile in the era of “bring the class, not the player” if on-the-fly swaps are a thing or single-spec man isn’t eager to re-spec at the drop of a hat.

To be fair, I don’t think this scenario would be all that common, but it’s certainly an option.

Probably the biggest negative that I could think of would be people deciding on feral for hybrid versatility…that concept is kind of castrated in light of dual-spec.

Edit:

I guess you address that here, which I read after replying. If you’re saying dual-spec can only be changed in a major-city, and it’s on CD, I guess all you’re really asking for is cheaper respec costs, if I understand correctly.

Consider a system that after 1000g spent on respecs, the respecs are then free (aside from needing done at a trainer)…although…it’s not a big ask at that point to just flip it to on-the-fly.

yes it does. not even glancing at the rest of your post.

Won’t for me.

Feywaif is correct. Sorry.

It really doesn’t.
