Dual Spec.. please?

That’s a great analogy. I constantly see this nonsense being typed: “Dual spec will not solve the tank shortage problem. Retail has dual spec but still facing tank shortage”.

Noone is claiming anything more than that dual spec would help tank/healer shortage. Yet that gets twisted into somehow “it won’t fix the tank/healer shortage.”

But that’s what happens when people don’t argue in good faith.

Yeah, nobody said it would 100% fix it, but it would help some and some is better than nothing.

Putting a bandaid over a cut won’t heal the cut, but yet it will help it heal faster by keeping infection out.

But hey. It won’t help heal the cut, so why even use them? Might as well just not use anything, then.

strange analogy. if you dont put a bandaid on a cut, it will still heal. I’ve seen some pretty bad cuts that you can’t just “put a bandaid” on.

somewhat relevant difference in stakes here. but i guess people waiting for groups to form is akin to people starving.

I disagree.

it’s not nonsense if it’s true, as vieria is trying to point out, its just a bandaid on a much larger problem.

Advocating for dual spec on the basis of helping with role disparity is probably one of the worst arguments. Fey at least has more merit in argument when talking about gold.

Different stakes, but the exact same type of logic.

Kinda like comparing a car to an 18 wheeler, they are both motorized vehicles that run on fossil fuels.

The differing in stakes does not invalidate the logic either way.

If dual spec made such a noticeable difference in the tank shortage why did blizzard add over a dozen other changes to try and fix the tank shortage, and there is STILL a tank shortage even after all of those changes.

The tank shortage is not a design problem, it’s a player problem.

Want an easier time getting tanks? You can roll a tank yourself, make friends with tanks, pay for tanks, server transfer to a mega server, offer the tank loot reservations, exc.

There are in game solutions to your problem of a lack of tanks. I fixed my lack of tanks by building my reputation on my server for all of classic vanilla. Come tbc I had tanks asking me to do stuff. I helped them level, gear up, provided consumables, dmt buffs, enchants, ecx. I used a social solution to a social problem. You can do the same by using one of the solutions above, some are social solutions some are economic solutions, and only the server transfer is an out of game solutions.

If you have a bad cut, why do you do stitches and wrap gauze on a wound?

Because one alone isn’t enough.

That doesn’t mean you should not do one or the other. You should do both.

Kinda sucks if you wanna play a Draenei, or you came later.

Not everybody had the chance to do this, as they came later.

At the end of the day, you’re still gonna run into situations where your group fails to go because of LF1M Tank/Heal.

And at the end of the day…

Why are you arguing against something you, yourself, are not forced to use?

Can you tell me that?

If Blizz implemented Dual-Spec tomorrow, how would this hurt your experience in any way? It’s something you must actively buy and use.

Except it is literally one of the benefits.

Every DPS who switches is one less dps trying to find a group and one more tank/healer who can get a group going.

I wouldn’t at all. Acquiring gold and farming gold aren’t synonymous.

Because often it takes player complaints and feedback to bring up the behavior that may or may not be an actual bug. Many bugs aren’t even game breaking, meaning they have in-game solutions. Based upon your prior statement, you made no exception for bugs (whether clearly known as such or not), only that if players have an in-game solution, it isn’t Blizzard’s problem.

That would necessarily include reporting bugs. This is your logic extended.

Please… the list we just went over included server transferring and “just make friends”…

It does. They don’t have to do anything about the problem, but it is theirs.

Again you seem to think having a problem laid at Blizzard’s feet only truly becomes a problem if Blizzard is going to act upon it… which doesn’t make sense at all.

I’m going to help you understand why this analogy is poor.

Asking for dual spec is not like asking to have a wound healed.

TBC was born without dual spec and did fine.

What you are doing is the equivalent of saying that somebody SHOULD get plastic surgery to make their face look a certain way because in your opinion their face needs fixing, and needs to be made better.

A wound is more analogous to an actual bug or blizzard breaking something accidentally in a patch.

Incidentally, Zipzo also dishonest because he predicates all arguments on #NoChanges.

You can replace “dual spec” with any other change here. Watch:

Yeah it’s like he’s saying “Why bother to improve the game? That’s not how it was back in the day”.

It’s just so stupid.

Okay why do we have 1080p/4k TBC Classic? Everybody knows that crap maxed out at 1024x768 (I Think. It might have even been 800x600)

I’m pretty sure even the simple idea that dual spec increases tank participation isn’t agreed upon. The list of axioms agreed upon by both sides is pitifully short.

We have differing ideas of what “improves” the game. The sooner you realize the sooner we can have this discussion without your high-horse approach to the topic.

I think going against design intention in a lot of cases diminishes, as in the opposite of improves, the product I’m paying for, which is a faithful recreation of TBC.

Better get back on that vent/mumble server too, wouldn’t want to ruin the experience with discord.

Having to do Lady Vashj on Ventrilo, with DSL internet, and 15 FPS on 800x600 would really bring back that authentic difficulty.

Okay then, tell the class exactly what would be diminished if dual-spec was implemented.

We’re waiting for this detailed explanation as to why Dual-Spec would make the experience for everybody worse.

Why is it that things like 4k support and colorblindness mode “enhances” the game, while things like Dual-Spec is bad?

I think it does here.

So… you want every other change in retail that helps tank shortages?

one of the weaker benefits. Allowing players to pvp freely, or increasing overall playtime are much greater points.

And they are fine acquiring gold, but outright farming it is a no go… so their stance is farming gold is bad.

Maybe im at fault for not clarifying bugs. Bugs by nature are not meant to be there. This is an exception that I didn’t think I would have to specify.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to try to find every tiny exception to everything people say, when generally there are always standard exceptions to “rules”

A bug is not meant to be there, that’s why it is in fact a bug.

right, and i clarified that I disagreed with server change, and making friends still seems fine to me.

So if someone said, “I dont like this quest, its boring” This is blizzards problem? because from what i can tell, as long as there is a complaint, its blizzards problem. and if that’s what you’re saying. I don’t know what to follow with.
Or more extreme examples like “I lost my job playing wow at work”

What doesn’t make sense to me, is that everything laid at blizzards feet, is automatically blizzards problem.

Every little bit helps, so might as well.
