2600+ comments so it won’t be long before a wowhead post then a blue post of implementation. Usually what happens
Yep,
So I propose a compromise between the two camps. They add dual spec to the game for the somechanges people but you can only train it in Northrend for the nochanges people.
Wouldn’t surprise I’m sure blizzard is seeing the exact same issues now they did back in TBC that lead to dual spec in the first place and at this point it would be well within the scope of what they consider acceptable changes.
“Northrend needs to be included in TBC because you’re allowed to fly there like you can in Outland so theyre pretty much the same exact game.”
That would be amazingly passive aggressive on blizzard’s part we’re adding dual spec, oh yeah and outlands too so you can train dual spec there.
Its a level of petty that I could respect to the point where I might consider revising my stance on the company.
That level of sass is something I want to support.
Like it was broken because you could never get into a BG?
Right but I would use the optimal spec for what I am doing, not let me try this other spec and you guys make up the difference.
Proven truth.
So I don’t need to pay 50g to experience more of the game, dual spec should just exist.
iF yOu HaVe ReAl LiFe YoU sHoUlDn’T pLaY vIdEo GaMeS!
And if you are a no lifer playing video games, you should get a real life first!
Video games shouldn’t be unnecessarily time-consuming, but simply fun. As soon as it feels like work, people will play something else. That’s why retail and TBC together barely have 2 million active players anymore. Simply because people have no desire and no time for this eternal grind!
The game should be what it is and you should play it (or not) at your leisure; the game shouldn’t change to accommodate whatever it is you need to do IRL.
Dual spec is a WotLK feature, and WotLK was created with dual spec in mind. TBC wasn’t. The devs wanted to discourage spec hopping during the vanilla/TBC era(s) and that’s why there was a proportional monetary cost associated with it. Which I like. They could increase the cost of respeccing and it’d be a win in my book. With permanence comes identity, and identity is imperative in RPGs. MMOs are no exception.
People wonder how retail lost its “RPG-ness”. The fact is, it wasn’t one thing. It was things like this that were added bit by bit. All in the name of efficiency. No thanks.
The game should change to the wishes of the majority, no matter if that fits with your wishes or not.
That’s how a good game designer would act at least and how Blizz acted in the past.
It was created with dual spec, as that was a wanted feature communicated DURING TBC from the player base.
The wish is still the same. We want dual spec. No reason to wait with the implementation and to make the same mistake TWICE!
Death by 1000 cuts.
Next it will be repair costs. Why should I have to farm to be able to enjoy content when the content I enjoy causes my gear to take damage.
I can be three different specs for different content, why cant I get all three specs, why am I limited to two.
Why cant I change how my gear looks? they added transmogs because players wanted it so they should add them now.
We want to run old content and get meaningful rewards bring in ilvl based gear as well as level sync dungeons.
There’s an exception to every rule but the idea behind playing an RPG is you’re an adventurer making your own way in the world. In other words, if you’re the kinda guy or gal who “needs” to respec 4 times in a week, you’re going to make sure youre able to do that which is supposed to be exciting for you (incentives/rewards blah blah). Youre investing in your character. Or youre gonna adjust your play to whatever you’re realistically able to accomplish. Youre playing your role, it fits!
Somewhere along the line we got it into our heads that we need to be optimized as we can be at all times and the game should make that all very convenient for us because thats what we want and how we want to play. Sound familiar? I mean, look at all the homogenization and what happened to talents/specialization and all the pruning and class fantasy etc
Maybe, maybe not.
But beside that isn’t the topic of this thread, but something that will come later anyways and we are just asking to implement it a bit earlier:
If all the mentioned features are what the majority of the player base want, then let it happen. Only because you might not happy with it, but for each “you” there are 10 people who loves the idea, why should anyone give your opinion more weight than the majority?
You got the point!
When you want to argue like that: Why would I need to pay a “trainer” 4 times a week when I already learned the stuff he is teaching several times. I am sure, when I constantly training the stuff by adventuring things in the “outlands”, I am pretty soon the one who is actually teaching the teacher.
At least faction choices still matter, am I right?
If I buy a red car, and 10 people were told that red cars were all that was being offered, bought the red car and then complained it was not blue.
Why should I give up what I bought because people knowingly bought a red car and then complained?
But I prefer black cars.
Then find someone who is offering black cars, or the option to buy black cars
You can suggest that they start selling black cars obviously, but you certainly are not ENTITLED to it.
But only because you bought a red car but most people want that car in blue, why would any car salesman “waste” his parking space on red cars. He would sell a lot more if he reserved it for blue cars!
Who is selling black cars?
Because its a quick analogy not a micro economics course?
