Dont ever take that crap seriously or think that those guys know what theyre talking about. Min/max is about nerfing the content as much as you can as a player/group/guild. Its about removing challenge.
On the flip side, playing in off specs and what not increases the challenge. Like that shaman tank thread. They know there is a more optimal way but thats not how they like it so they do it their way.
Thats far more of a challenge.
It’s not good enough when it’s very easy to be in a better spec. And typically people who are fine with “good enough” when it comes to spec at the expense of the group are also sloppy and willing to accept “good enough” when it comes to other things like not standing in fire.
Or maybe we could let people play how they want to without adding unneeded artificial barriers. Lack of dual spec is completely killing the already poor pvp scene.
I actually did a few heroic dungeons dpsing as deep prot - do that a bit actually when I CBF respeccing lol. My guild has too many tanks (mostly Pallys) so I often find myself being asked to go dps for heroics.
We had to pug a healer and a rogue once. I was in dps gear and out dpsing the Rogue by a good margin. But the healer quit because my spec was wrong. Made me laugh. Got another healer from mates list and we cleared it no probs.
A lot of the limitations on accessing content are player made and cultural. You can clear the content fine without being optimal. In this case I was pulling my weight. I wasn’t carrying the group by any means, but I was keeping up.
And if you have a group that’s willing to deal with that attitude that’s great, don’t be surprised that others might not want to.
Honestly if people in blues and greens crack a fiz at me dpsing in raid dps gear with a tank spec accompanied by a bis Pally tank guildy they’re welcome to find other grouping options. It would be different if I was last on dps and we were wiping.
Like I said if your guild is fine with yoloing runs more power to you but don’t expect everyone to accept that just because it’s “good enough”
It would be a good idea, but I prefer to keep waiting for the WotLK classic to preserve the originality of the expansion.
However, I could clarify that it would be the most I can since Blizzard added that 6 month reward and a supposed LFG in this last phase.

That depends, if they end up waiting a little longer for a less stressful run most people are fine with that. Especially as you’re likely to actually end up taking longer being careless.

Nah we were faster than waiting for another group. We’ve also run the dungeon loads so being careless wasn’t an issue. The bis Pally tank guildy we had basically speed ran it. I was originally going to tank but it made no sense once he joined the group.
The only stress we had was the one dude having an aneurysm about my “inappropriate” spec.
He didn’t have an issue with the undergeared rogue btw.
At any rate that isn’t significant, what is significant is the neurotic commitment to min maxing on content we can do blindfolded when we over gear it. The game is primarily meant to be fun.
All I gotta say is I wanna see it done at level not overgeared at level double so level 68 67 Roughly everybody’s around the same level.
This and you tank old hillsbrad and it’s not about Mid Maxine it’s well being able to clear the dungeon without dying a million times.
Are there sometimes you can kind of bend the rules yeah sure and everybody else is dead in the party and the boss has a little bit of health left yeah sure a boomy could maybe keep the tank up for a little bit.
Just like a shadow priest can heal for a little bit but for the whole dungeon or raid yeah that’s just not happening there’s no way those things just hit way too hard.
And speaking from somebody who did a couple dungeons with a cough cough fury prop Warrior I assure you it did not go well

You’re right it is meant to be fun. And while it’s great tat one run went okay I’ve also seen plenty of people with that exact attitude who end up making the run much worse. And yeah of course having a geared pally tank makes 5 mans super trivial, not your “good enough” spec you “play well”
As a palatin tank I know exactly what you’re saying believe me I think the best one is.
When someone wants to pretend to be a healer of some type unless is a unless I know the person personally and then pretend that they’re good and then get mad when we wipe.
But of course that’s my fault Because I’m the tank that couldn’t hold Is and survive long enough because the healer isn’t geared or specked for it.
Like I said unfortunately i never recorded any of my OHB runs but feel free to youtube search VodnikGaming (no spaces) TBC classic and youll see me tanking mana tombs at 65 as fury arms
Done it with 1 or 0 wipes regularly
I never had any issues and i used mostly my Conq T2.5 Gear from AQ until 68-69
I literally ONLY did dungeons to level from 60-70 and again did not have trouble until BM, Slabs, svaults
Ill answer your question with a question. If dual spec would supposedly solve a tank shortage problem. Why has there always been a tank shortage problem in retail when it hasnt costed money to respec since WOTLK? You can literally change your spec any time you want for free in rested zones.
