Get the campaign to a point where you get swirling surge. It’ll make things easier.
I have 2 zones worth of glyphs now, I still hate it. It isn’t viable to fly if you’re starting on the ground. Also frustrating I can’t stop in the air to look at the map to see where exactly I am going etc.
Maybe I am missing something, but no matter what I do with my mouse my dragon never looks “nose to the sky”. It’s like I can’t look / aim upward. So using the ability to go up often has me just stalling out.

I got that one last night. I was failing miserably until I stopped trying to brute force it. Just concentrate on locating landing spots a little higher than your current position. You’ll get there.
Could be a bug.
What I do from flat ground is double space bar, then point up until Im looking straight up at the sky, hit 2 (my key for the soar) and keep pointed up until I feel the momentum drain, and then level off, to slightly down to build some momentum, and once I have the momentum, I point up and soar again, and repeat. You want to get high enough so that you have “blue” momentum, and regenerate vigor in the air. Once you are doing that, you can fly indefinitely.
Certainly it’s faster to get to that stage when you are starting out from a great height to begin with, but you can jury-rig it from the low ground, too, with that technique. And when you flesh out the rest of the tree (especially get up to 6 vigor, and the quicker vigor regen skills), it gets even easier to do it. Admittedly, at the very beginning, when you have 4 vigor and poor regen, it’s harder.
If you’re trying to go literally straight up the mountain you’re at the base of right now, you can either use the soar ability to go straight up and do it in stages (which can be irritating, although when you have 6 vigor it’s a lot faster), or you can do what I said above, get high enough, and then circle back toward the mountain, and you’ll be high enough, or close to it.
It does take a lot of getting used to compared with the helicopter function in the normal flying mechanic, but it’s also a lot faster to move around the map once you have the hang of it and can stay up indefinitely.

That’s pretty much what I do. Glide up to another landing and wait for Vigor. Repeat. Wee.
Well, name an expansion that you could have flying right at the beginning of leveling through it? The closest is Wrath, and it yielded a much slower version much later into the leveling process.
Dragon flying is far and away the best version we’ve gotten, and it still isn’t enough for some people. It’s also much faster than regular flying assuming you aren’t just trying to afk during it.
Dragonflying would be great, except for the random disconnections. I’m now stuck in a disconnect/reconnect cycle simply because I hit space to take off.
The Stuck Character service also appears to be not loading either.

It doesn’t impact me at all and it’s also an irrelevant question. I could ask you if you’d rather have to wait 6 months for pathfinder rather than have dragon flying.

Yah me thank goodness I paid for 6 mos, I’ll be gone after that if this stay like this. OR I’ll just go to a different WoW expansion and hangout till the next expansion. Pretty crappy of WoW NOT to tell us this was how it would be- This riding thing should have been an option- What idiot at WoW forgot all the folks that supported the game for YEARS with YEARS of great mounts and now all the fliers are now in a wheelchairs! LOL!!!
I feel like all I do is jump high and glide down. Doesn’t feel like I’m flying.
The race courses at least give you the swirly speed boosts to keep going.
Yes it is. I’ve been doing all day. You just have to angle your mouse up and hit the ascend button, then angle slightly downward to gain some momentum before ascending again and surging forward.

EXACTLY I did not get all my favorite Flyers over the years to have this pulled on me. I think they planned to keep this from us all a long, I know I would not have bought this expansion to have all my mounts in the stable till the next expansion.

This is not playing WoW, I started WoW on its first day, They knew many would not like it. But this is not playing WoW, flying was meant to get you from A to B faster and to be able to explore, a “luxury”, not a skill set! LOL!!!
