Dragonriding is Awful

“Frankly, that’s a skill issue.”

Skyward Ascent > Whirling Surge > Skyward Ascent > Skyward Ascent (repeat when needed)

If 2 buttons are “too hard” for you, WoW is not the game for you.

Dragonriding is okay. I mean, its no mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich.

I figure it prolly has something to do with not being able to use abilities when we are dead. Can’t use any skills, so they just give us old flying because walking across the zones would be even worse. :frowning:

I wish we had been able to dragonride back, though. Old flying at all after having access to the new system just feels terrible. :frowning:

Fly up to a mountain or high place and afk there.

You can mine/herb while mounted if you spent your knowledge points to unlock the perk. Also you can get a vigor regeneration buff after mining/herbing if you talent into it.

Which you should grab all the dragon riding glyphs, it makes your experience alot better and are account wide so you only need to collect them once.

After the first launch into the air, angle your mount straight up and press fly upwards for alot of altitude gain.

Later you will unlock an ability which allows you to instantly halt in the air.

Have you and your friend enable passengers at the dragon riding trainer. It makes your Dragon Riding mount a 2-seater and the passenger becomes a whelp.

There is a multitude of motion sickness options to help.

In 10.1.5 many mounts are being flagged as Dragon Riding enables, pretty much all of the Drakes, Proto Drakes, etc more will eventually be allowed to.

Further more they are working on a toggle for Static and Dynamic flying which would allow you to change to regular flying (Static) or dragon riding (Dynamic) on a toggle this is likely going to be added in 10.1.7 as we have some datamined info on the 10.1.5 build.

Lots of customizations, not my fault alot of people like the black dragon coloration on their mounts. (In 10.1.5 be prepared for alot of people with the Infinite Dragon color scheme).

10.1.7 is likely when, and Dragon riding will likely also be in the old world as well.

Same same

Definitely looking forward to immediately ditching cringe-riding the moment normal flying becomes available again🤞

You could also look at the post history from 2018, 2020, 2021, and april of this year on that very character.

I can’t wait for old flying to be enabled just for all the posts we’ll see here from people complaining that dragonriders are getting to rares and nodes faster than they are. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll get a few people asking for old flying speed to be increased to match dragonriding, that’d be good for a few laughs.

Because it’s possible to die in a place impossible to get to with dragonriding.

Ok, I’ll take the bait. How are you three players?

If you hate it so much, play Classic.

I think if they’re going to open dragonriding in the old world, then open regular flying in the new worlds.

Okay, I am genuinely curious where would be impossible to get to. The dragonriding mount can walk on the ground like the slow flying death dragon, and dragonriding can go anywhere a normal flying mount can go.

Dragonriding is pretty great but I would like a hover in place ability added to it. Using your mount to actually travel the world and cover great distances feels good.

Hi Alsandar,

I totally agree with you that Dragonflight is absolutely foreign to how WOW has worked for decades, and can be quite frustrating at first. I’ll share with you some resources that helped me learn more bout all the details, and how to learn dragon riding.

In a nutshell: you have many talent points to spend on Dragonflight features & abilities, just like you have talent points to spend on your characters abilities.

Specific to Dragonriding, you acquire the talent points by collecting what are called “Glyphs” in the Dragon Isles. Glyphs are not tangible like gold or armor but rather you find them in various places in the Dragon Isles and simply fly thru them to collect the points. Once you collect all the points on ONE character and earn the achievement, those points will be automatically available for every character on your account. So, the good news is you only need do it once!

Here are some links to websites that helped me learn to ride dragons:

Wowhead is a good overall resource for everything you need to know.

Method’s website is good on locations for all the Glyphs.

Another source for where to find the Glyphs

A quick list of all the Glyphs

Last but not least is a map of the Dragon Isles showing the location for all the Glyphs needed to earn the achievement

OK, Venom. Just git gud

You do not have to go full speed, you have full control of your mount.

You need to experiment more with your dragon, just because something does not come easy it does not mean it is bad.

I can go from full speed to a slow glide instantly without using the break ability which would otherwise stop the mount.

I can ascent almost indefinitely without moving up and down.

Experiment more.

Tip: Use the mount abilities in the exact opposite way they were intended to be used.

yeah not being able to stop and hover is pretty dumb

i kinda wish we had way more vigor

and i wish we could go way way faster

You can use abilities while dead, just not every ability. My monk can use roll and numerous other classes can use movement abilities while dead and have been able to for many years now. So they definately have the tech to allow dragonriding skills while dead.
