Guess they weren’t confident that people would actually enjoy it.
Well… they were very confident people would like it or they wouldn’t have released it.
It was also flying day 1. Which hasnt been done since what? Mop? No pathfinder, no real questing, no gold dumps. It was just there.
And enough like it that they are expanding it to old world, old mounts AND expanding races to old world.
Sounds like it was a big win honestly.
Skill issue
Oh it definitely was for a lot of players. They clearly didn’t need to force engagement with it to get there though.
I think if they could have managed it for all the legacy zones in time they’d probably have cut out old flying altogether and I’m surprised they’re actually bothering to eventually unlock it in DF.
Regardless, I agree with your previous statement that 10.1 should have been the unlock point.
Well it was also the size of the zones. Old flying would take ages to get to points. One of the big points was speed.
I think that is the goal… one day. But if they make old dragons and stuff with momentum, and leave non as old flying. They may just keep the system. Who knows. Blizz does blizz things lol.
Yea. A full patch for people to experience DR, then just unlock old flying for the ones that just don’t wanna bother. Win/win.
Sure, but speed is also one of the biggest reasons people don’t like DR. if folks wanted to use fps or poke along at 310, let them. Just like how they didn’t take away ground mounts in these zones. (Or most zones that eventually allow flying)
Let’s not pretend it’s the same. It isn’t. It doesn’t matter anyway, according to the comments I’ve read in this thread I’ll get my wish and you can keep on keeping on with your dragonriding.
So your measure of the game being good is how good it is when…you aren’t…playing it…
Strange take.
it’s awesome.
But again, it was one of the main selling points for the xpac. It would be fair to say, most like and enjoy DR.
And tbh, I can’t complain regardless because we got flying day 1.
I lived through WoD, legion, bfa, SL without flying until pathfinder. So I am VERY appreciative for flying on day 1 of release.
So if we didn’t get DR, we’d be stuck on ground mounts right now.
While I agree dragon gliding is not only awful but it is also boring and tedious they should have put regular flying in a lot sooner so those who are tired of gliding wouldn’t have quit when we did.
If they had truly cared about all of the players they would have done it so both would be side by side coexisting like many wanted.
Instead they are dragon their heels as more players leave even though they claim regular flying is returning still no word on when exactly which makes one wonder if it is just another lie.
If they were willing to give us DR on day one, they could have done both. It’s a no consequence imaginary would, it didn’t have to be an either-or situation.
They put out a full release trailer and break down of xpac features. It doesn’t make any sense that they would have both day 1.
You aren’t thinking realistically nor from a business standpoint. You WANTED it to be out day 1, but other than appeasing a small % of the population, it would have gone against highlighting dragonriding on release.
Now I don’t see an issue, but then, yea no I don’t and can’t agree that they could have released both.
Only when you’ve collected enough Glyphs. OP likely hasn’t yet.
Oh no
Youll have to afk somewhere else where enemies arnt spawning
Oh the humanity
Taunting aside i love dragon riding its easy to figure out.
If you cant than its something wrong with you
Seven months in and I still don’t like dragonriding. I have the glyphs and can gold races no problem, I just don’t like it. I’ll gladly dump it in the dragon isles as soon as normal flying is an option. The biggest benefit of dragonriding is speed at the cost of control and mount choice. I’ll gladly take a slower mount if it means I have better control and can use my favorite mounts again.
Not trying to take away dragonriding from anybody. If you like it, that’s great. But not everybody does.
Gottem. /thread
I like dragon riding but I do miss hovering.
Old AFK flying, or swimming in the air as I like to call it, was a mistake in terms of design.
It worked, sure, but it was too static. If you fly high into the air, you’ve got to fly back down SLOWLY, or just dismount. You can’t dive on a flying mount, with the old tech.
Dragonriding is how flight should’ve been designed from the beginning.
Gravity matters. With old flying, it doesn’t.
Birds don’t hover- in fact, no flying creature does except for bugs and hummingbirds. I know this game isn’t exactly real, but just throwing out that the amount of hovering birds you see in this game is kinda annoying lol.
It’s nice we’re getting both, although I definitely prefer faster, weight-ier flying.
