Dragonriding is Awful

You don’t think it’s silly to compare automation of normal in game behavior with utterly breaking the game physics? You don’t think that one of them might be just a tad easier to detect, notice, or report?

Member all those years of people saying they’d love flight at expansion launch with no strings attached like having to do tons of quests or grind reps and how they’d love for flight to be something more interactive just as long as they got flight asap?

Fighting cheaters is part of Blizzards job, we shouldn’t lose features within the game because they have the potential to be used the wrong way when cheating/hacking.

I’m going to tell you something, and this may shock you…

Dragonriding is very avoidable. You’re only forced to do it in a small percentage of the content. And if you consider the struggles of gathering that bad, you’d be better off going node to node on a ground mount anyway and avoiding the nodes situated in places you can’t run to.

Expansions never really gave flying right out the gates of their release, Dragonflight did. So if it wasn’t a struggle for you to gather things before and travel on the ground with no flying, it shouldn’t be too much of a struggle now.

Also you can go afk on a ground mount. I don’t know what the deal is, just move away from mobs I do it all the time.

Dragonriding is better than classic flight in every possible way.

Hopefully old flying gets removed from the game completely. They just gotta bring the old mount collection along for the ride.

The first half of your post is what makes dragonriding superior. The second half is a practice to get better. The part about motion sickness is something blizz should add better accessibility options for. As for mount variety, no one is stopping you from ground riding your other mounts, I do it all the time. No need to dragonride for short distances. All in all, be patient, as old air swimming is coming eventually.

I do, actually, and it sometimes feels like there aren’t many of us that can put the pieces together to remember that flying has been outlawed by Pathfinder as a control against skipping content.

That’s really my big problem with people asking “what’s the harm in letting us use whatever flying we wish?” They’ve conveniently forgotten Pathfinder; free “static flying” has never been on the radar, and I’m personally thrilled I can fly on Dragonriding without Pathfinder from day one.

I agree the dragonriding mounts are totally lame and everyone has the same dragon mounts. But that is the problem with the mounts. Dragonriding the flying gameplay is fun! The dragonriding mounts are lame. Once they add dragonriding to all the old flying mounts we are good.

Oh also they are adding a toggle to switch back to normal flying.

They are literally going to fix everything you are complaining about. Yay!

I don’t think that was true at the risk of being a contrarian. As I recall enough people backlashed that they ended up not removing it

Yes you’re going to get differing opinions No matter which side you take. This topic was about all the things you can’t do with dragonflying or at least what they can’t… But you can do most of those things. In fact you can do them more efficiently than old flying.

I think this is why people come at Dragon Riding haters so vigorously. Before we knew for sure, there was the ever likely chance that Dragonriding would go the way of every other expansion feature- abandoned in the next one.

For players who really like it, the idea of going back to slow flying kinda sucks. And, honestly, slow flying does suck compared to dragon riding for me. I think a lot of players who liked dragon riding were worried “forum whiners” would ruin it.

Now we know we’re getting the toggle and it’s not the case. So at this point there’s literally no reason in attacking either form of flying. They both have their benefits and draw backs. In a patch or two you’ll be able to completely ignore the form of flying you don’t want. (Hopefully)

This is totally where I’m at, i’ll use DR when i want to get from A to B super fast, but i’ll use old flying when I’m doing stuff like pet battles (capturing the new battle pets i the underground zone was a pain in the butt with DR because you’re going too fast and they only spawn on your map after you pass them).

Come back when you collect all the Dragon coins and have the entire Dragon Tree unlocked.

You tried something for 15 minutes and a have a full fledged opinion about something you know nothing about.

Next patch, they are supposed to be unlocking regular flying for DF.

Lol, removal and alteration of a feature is absolutely on the table, this has happened plenty before. That’s just a reality.

And let’s be clear here, players haven’t lost much of anything currently in regards to dragonriding (hover, lol). We didn’t the lose the ability to fly, how we fly was changed. And that how is ultimately better for gameplay on the whole, on top of also tipping certain factors in favor of players over bots.

New flying is superior in terms of speed and engagement.

Old flying is better in all other aspects.

If yku have not done so, download an add on that shows the location of all upgrade tokens and pick them all up. It makes dragonriding work.

I like it. But then again I’ve trained on flight simulators and gliders.

I can almost hover . I managed to slow fall when I was AFK in Valdrakken by angling slightly up to the point that if I were a plane, I’d be stalling.

I thought this post was sarcasm. Then I realized it’s for real XD

It’s momentum based. You don’t see birds /afk floating in the air irl.

Wut? Just look up and press 2

Look up and press 2.

Good thing there are plenty of hills and such to land on huh?

You know there is a button to full stop flying? Flying past it at mach 10 is user error.
Either press the full stop button or just look at the ground where you want to land.

There is a 2 seater mode.

Good thing they are incorporating dragonriding with old world mounts in 10.1.5 and future patches huh?

How? All FIVE dragon mounts are color/horn/hair/tail/saddle/armor customizable.
The only ones that don’t mod their mount, don’t care. But then… why is this your concern if they simply don’t care?

Sounds like you are doing it already.

Honestly, majority of this post is either flying user error or just misinformation.
Should probably refrain from passing off opinion as fact.

Whoa bud. I’m sure by now you realize you made a mistake by having an opinion about dragon riding. We don’t tolerate alternate points of view here. You play like I play or you’re wrong. All the bugs, those are features, and you’ll enjoy them.
