Dragonflight winning over FF14

I think the difference between tanks and healers in FFXIV only really comes out in Savage/Ultimate content where you actually need to use your full kit. To a very casual player, though, you’re not going to notice that going through dungeons. The homogenization complaints rings hollow to me as they’re tauntmount to complaining that healers have heals and tanks have taunts. There are certain kit commonalities required to perform a role.

Fake news. All i do as a healer is 90% single target DPS.

In Savage and Ultimate? You’re in a better group than I.

Probably different there. In like most content its one button hero spam from what I am used to.

That’s the true end game content for Final Fantasy 14

No.

That’s by design. The game isn’t stuffed full of chores and busy work to create the illusion of accomplishment, FFXIV gives you content for it’s own sake and asks you to make your own experience from it.

i only played it for the final fantasy story

So you got exactly what you wanted out of it? What’s the problem?

i wasnt referring to me when i said that

i was referring to most people who quit that game since endwalker

who came back to wow in 9.2

In its 15+ year history, WoW has never come even remotely close to the level of storytelling that FFXIV has. And I say that as someone who has played and enjoyed WoW since vanilla.

Shadowbringers alone outranks every xpac WoW has done.

Yep. I will agree with all FFXIV classes being homogenized at low levels of play. They’re overly basic. Especially at low levels. But once you get into content that actually pushes your limits a bit… they feel incredibly different.

ignoring how content actually plays out is silly, by that logic WoW has more raids to run, even though nobody runs them after the tier has ended lol
World PvP is dead, short and simple

I mean, that’s all based on personal opinion. Just like how for me shadowlands is 10x more enjoyable than playing Final Fantasy.

A good 60 - 70% of this thread is literally just two people going at it back and forth. I love it.

I mourn for your taste. But I suppose that’s unnecessary if you found it within the Shadowlands.

I think people need to stop looking at WoW and FFXIV like you can only like one or the other. I think competition amongst games can be a good thing, particularly among MMO’s. WoW does a lot of things better than FFXIV, and FFXIV does a lot of things better than WoW. I don’t think either needs to “win” to be considered a good game.

I would say at least here lately, the biggest thing I appreciate about FFXIV that WoW has sorely been slacking on, is simply communication with players. It feels like Blizzard straight-up REFUSES to talk to players, except once or twice a year through some highly-produced marketing push.

The Dracthyr are a great example right now. They were met with a lot of mixed feelings, and it feels almost like Blizzard is trying NOT to clarify details on their limitations, because “it’s bad marketing”, as opposed to being transparent and showing any level of respect towards your players.

Never understood this.

Don’t care if FF14’s at the top, that doesn’t mean WoW is a bad game.

Heck, people still play SWTOR and it has less players than some high pop WoW servers.

wow factually does have more raids. indeed.

your opinion OF and ON the raids is invalid to that fact.

just like your opinion ON and OF world pvp existing is invalid to the fact that it does indeed and ff14 doesn’t have it.

Subjective.

its alive and well from my experience.

whats dead is ff14.

Blizzard is content to let their failures speak for themselves. Squareenix gets ahead of it and lays out every single con when they’re detailing new content. They either tell you why the negative exists, or apologize for it if its because of their own failures. Blizzard hears this and just thinks “blood in the water,” but that’s how they’ve cultivated such an antagonistic relationship with their playerbase. Showing vulnerability just makes you human. It helps people to empathize with the situation.

Doing development things right is just a small part of why people like Yoshi-P. There’s this cult of personality around him because he lets himself be vulnerable. He deals with his failures publicly. And people feel for him because of this.

your unwillingness to have an actual conversation is peak wow forums
nobody does old raids outside Tmog/Mount runs, and nobody WPvPs
Content people actually do is important and looking at things in a vacuum is stupid but it IS the forums so i cant expect too much
