What are the chances Hunters will be able to Duel Wield again with these abilities? There is a class fantasy there we no longer have access to that is only attainable in Classic. The animations are still quasi-implemented, the weapons can still be equipped and transmogged, but there is no way to actually make use of them because we’re forced into two-handed weapons by ability restrictions. Even if it is just a graphical work-around, will we ever be able to go back to that early class fantasy?
That aside, not going to lie, I do have concerns with the Hunter tree and the survival spec in particular.
The Hunter class tree looks like it might be a bit challenging to synergize with the Survivor Spec on some of those abilities if there is no way to switch to a range weapon. Will there be some kind of shift from the current weapon restrictions to allow for those abilities while in Survivor spec? As much as I already despise seeing my character forced to use the Serpent sting mini-crossbow (I’m a traditional archer and RP an elf who would never use a gun or crossbow), this tree does beg the question if Survival hunters will get something like that for Arcane Shot and Steady Shot abilities that require range weapons? Cause if not, some of those core class talents that we might wish to go through are going to be useless dead weight to us. And that is concerning, but it is only a concern if the equipment systems stay as they are. If it’s more like classic, or even a hybridization, it looks pretty good otherwise.
Bit disappointed as the hunter base tree is one of the bigger messes we’ve seen so far. Things that stick out to me as pain points are:
-Barrage being a pre-requisite for Master Marksman is very odd because it assumes every crit build would also want the clunkiest AOE ability ever made in every situation?
many of the nodes around around Misdirect are very situational abilities, but you are forced to take some number of them to move forward into the tree. There could be a fair number of boss fights where all of Tar trap, Tranq shot, fogged crystal, and imp exhilaration could do nothing, but you need to take at least 1 of them to progress.
Binding shackles is an INCREDIBLY situational ability yet it is the pre-requisite for what is likely the most broadly applicable talent on the tree in Keen Eyesight.
Steel trap is just an incredibly bizarre ability that is going to be worse than either frost trap or binding shot in pretty much every scenario. Putting it at Row 10 seems nonsensical.
On the marks tree Bursting shot should not be a travel node to important raw DPS nodes.
Lone wolf being on the tree is questionable in the first place, but having it so deep into the tree as a pre-requisite for multiple talents is immensely restrictive. There is an execution theme in the tree that could work well alongside Killer instinct from the base tree to carve out a niche, but Lone wolf is right in the middle of multiple talents for that build.
Absolutely love the mixing going on in our tree as rogues. Thank you devs, now we can plan on how we want to deal with situations. I’m really excited for this!
Rogue trees are overall incredible. It’s going to feel really cool to mix and match the cores of each of these specs. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a second pass once they get feedback on all the synergy going on though.
Is every class going to have interrupts as talents? That is going to lead to some seriously toxic gameplay. Really need to make interrupts baseline for everyone and then make the talents give benefits for interrupting or reducing the cooldown. Increasing secondary stats for a few seconds after interrupting or reducing the cooldown by several seconds are both good options.
This just causes more toxic behavior and makes it so everyone wants to swipe an interrupt… causing everyone’s interrupt to be on cd past the first mob.
So many skills come from SL items & convenant.
There imagination is just gone, instead of reworking some stuff, they just added them in their form and that’s that, the new stuff that is added is just plain bad !
In all honesty, I think the rogue tree is more a product of how soundly and well designed the class is and always has been. When the class foundationally has so much utility - both at its core and for each spec - we end up with a tree like this where it was easy to take the best of everything because everything is mostly good lol
Im pretty dissapointed in the Marksman hunter tree i would’ve really liked to see a return of aimed shot being castable while moving or giving the old hellfire citadel bonus that made it instant. I was also really hoping for a variant of sidewinders returning, the talent was a mess but i really liked replacing steady shot with a instant cast with charges since it gave the rotation some downtime.
It’s what I played in 9.0. Night Fae was a solid pick initially for M+.
Absolutely not because of Sepsis though. Sepsis is an awful, pointless ability.
