Dragonflight Story and Representation

Where?
Not in the big titles for sure.

Why do you consider FF as offensive? Do you know which characters play a significant role in the story? It’s quite balanced between women and men.

If you’re referring to the fact that FF14 doesn’t shy away from depicting things like torture, violence, inflicting harm upon oneself, suic*** and people selling their bodies in the story… that happens to both genders as well.

Vintage TV shows depicted women too, usually in the role of ‘wife’.

Women are currently minority players, by a small percentage. 60/40 avg. Encouraging others within that minority to play without feeling they wandered into the boys locker room is a good thing.

Why do you consider FF as offensive?

Because it has playboy bunny transmogs…

Also references to r*pe.

Anime in general I find to have the most horribly offensive, cartoonishly unrealistic depictions of women out of any media. And yet there are plenty of women who like it. Shrug

Heck I give WoW a lot of credit. None of it’s characters are sexualized. There are no booty short transmog or bikini transmog. The closest you can get is a reference to Xenan the Warrior Princess. And half of it’s female races are kinda ugly. They really didn’t care about making them sexy at all. Unlike every other MMO, and I respect that a lot.

I expected you to answer “bu bu Jaina!” and you surprised me with an even lamer one.

Wives exist. Also a lot of vintage tv shows include “token” characters, because PC movements existed even back then. Heck why else is Jaina a thing? That character is awful. It’s just the token woman that the writers felt obligated to include.

And now they get crapped on for it. Shouldn’t of even bothered.

Encouraging others within that minority to play without feeling they wandered into the boys locker room is a good thing.

Except retail players are WAY thirstier than classic players. It’s not even close. And yet classic is considered more of a “boys club”

50 shades of a grey was a best seller. That’s all I’m genna say.

I asked you a question.
What’s lame about that?

Oh please…

You don’t have to wear an “offensive” outfit and you will also find them in wow btw. The difference is, that the character models in ff look actually good and not like pixel mush.

And what is the problem with that? These things exist. Grow up. Such topics are not portrayed as something positive in the game. It is a very dark story sometimes. If you can’t handle dark themes… wow might also not be the right place for you.

Oof… ok, well, agree to disagree. Just leave it at that.

And was is the problem with that?

The dungeon I’m referencing had lalafell s*x slaves crying.

And there is an entire casino in the game filled with vegas style show girls. Oh, and btw, playboy bunny lalafell.

ff14 is a disgusting game made by disgusting japanese perverts. It has actual cat girls in it.

I’m not trying to fix the problem nor did I say it was a problem.

Did you just make that up? I’ve definitely never seen such a dungeon.
That aside, I may not like Lalafel in terms of looks, but they are adults.

OMG! The horror! :scream:

Touch some grass. You seem to be offended by pretty much everything.

All’s I’m saying is how can WoW be considered sexist at all when MMO’s like that exist? And are actually more popular with women than WoW?

Taelia and Talanji were not the main characters of the story. They were important, but they weren’t as important as the characters you conveniently left out. Anduin, Saurfang, Nathanos, the Bronzebeards, Baine (vomit) and Wrathion.

SL was starting to balance the numbers out a bit but the big names were still male. The Jailer, Anduin, Uther, the Lich King 2.0 and then the characters you mentioned. I honestly forgot Draka existed until you pointed her out.

And like I keep saying… I don’t care that the story was male dominated. I think the story being good is way more important than a number count.

HOWEVER

You can’t sit there and whine like the OP did about “my poor male representation” when the game has had 18 years of it.

Because it has a decent story, player housing, modern customization options (while wow doesn’t even provide sliders and color palettes… you’re lucky, if you are getting 4 new hair colors for one race every few months in wow…), actual 3D gear, which is dyeable, character models, while not very creative, look actually good etc. There are many reasons.

Also the devs seem to actually care for their players.

Also also… no lawsuit… I don’t have to go into detail here…

WoW is sexist because it doesn’t have player housing and customization options?

Also also… no lawsuit… I don’t have to go into detail here…

…It’s Japan. They probably don’t even hire enough women for them to form a class action lawsuit.

Where did I say that?
Sorry, but I stop replying to you from now on.

Not only do you consistently make up things, but you also twist words, insult the devs of Enix as perverted, while simultaneously defending the WoW devs who had a lawsuit against them. You clearly don’t even have a basic understanding of the FF story and it seems like you just pick out a few things out of context to support your stance. This is getting too ridiculous for me.

You do you.

Good. Next time, don’t participate in a conversation when you don’t understand the points being made.

So you don’t like women in the game? Or you don’t like women playing the game?

Fact is, money talks and tends to ‘un-tokenize’ a class of people pretty quick. When almost half your clients (and growing) are a specific class, then the business has to pay attention and respond, or fail.

Also ‘The Color Purple’ is a twice the best seller. And it won the Pulitzer Prize. You are confusing viral shock value with real life inclinations.

So you don’t like women in the game? Or you don’t like women playing the game?

It was sort of just a rant about how I think ff14 and anime in general is extremely sexist and yet nobody seems to care.

Yea retail WoW is appealing more to women with things like Vulpera, and cute backpack transmogs.

Not Yrel and her awful, boring, cliche story.

Also ‘The Color Purple’ is a twice the best seller.

Quick google search on the books. The Color Purple sold 5 million copies. 50 shades of grey sold 125 million…

Holy crap that’s scary.

Back when the books were just getting huge, I read a sample to see what it was all about.

Not only was the story just flat out bad, the style it was written in made it look like the author didn’t have an editor. I have no idea how it was printed that way.

Anyways, yeah it’s scary that many people read that book.

Edit: I’m just using the word “scary” to be flippant. “Sad” is probably the better word.
