Dragonflight Story and Representation

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhh

Whaaaaaat? lol

Are you referring to the early dungeon where the pirates were keeping women…whom you slaughtered…for being evil pirates?

I actually live in Japan and it’s not made by pervs so that wasn’t very nice.

However, square enix does heavily pander to young male crowd through their Young Gangan magazine. Maybe equivalent to Maxim.

Japan is like a time capsule 15 years behind the times.

FF14 is fairly representative though story wise.

Outside of story player chars can spice up their toons through mods but that’s a whole nother story and up to each individual.

And that is largely community made.

That number includes all 4 novels of the 50 Shadesbooks.
And the 5M is from the first 2 years of TCP publishing- in the 80’s. When people actually had to go to the store to buy a book. God knows how much it’s sold since.

But anyway. I know where you are coming from and I’ll take a hard pass on spending any more time there, because the world is actually evolving and moving forward - whether you like it or not.

Yea that’s the one.

The color purple is a 3 book series. All three books sold 5 million.

Fifty Shades freed sold 35 million copies.

Women aren’t some sophisticated super humans. They like the same slop as men. Well, it’s different slop, but it’s slop non-the-less.

Bad comparison. WoW’s popularity was at it’s height when it’s story was at it’s worst.

Which story was the worst is debatable and for me I actually give DF the worst marks out of them all…a bit lower than shadowlands actually.

I enjoyed the hecc out of Revendreth and Ardenweald. For me those two zones had a sense of urgency with the Anima drought.

Granted the cosmology throws everything in a whirlwind but I believe that you had options for balanced representation here more so than DF.

Representation, really? No wonder everything about this game is in the crapper

Yes representation. That is the title of the post.

Shadowlands had elements of a good plot. It’s just a shame that the overarching one was awful.

Dragonflight contributes nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing was made better for having been included in DF’s plot.

Going forward…

There’s a lot of room for growth and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means I won’t be preordering at all and playing until some reviews are out later.

Knaifu Waifu collecting old god essences… Can be interesting. Although I don’t know if I really buy her going back to classic SOD to collect em all is necessarily the right angle to attempt cohesion through the ages.

Focusing on DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) is not how anyone writes a good story.

And I’m not asking for it to be a focus here.

It should be naturally integrated.

can we please stop keeping count of this stuff

I think what we really need are heroes and villains again.

We have characters and that’s it. There’s nothing that separates them from one another right now, they all agree with each other like an AI conversation.

I want opposing opinions, dramatic tension, love triangles even, revenge, blood thirsty malice, heroic journeys, the list goes on. Right now everything has felt like a middle ground peace party.

I understand the underlying theme appears to be renewal and regrowth with WoW and a new chapter in a way that moves us past WC3, but I really miss our sultry women of power like Azshara and Sylvanas.

I miss our heroic leaders like Varian and Tirion (and now Genn who never got a chance)

I want to see Anduin become a many leader that is not only heroic, but wise.

I offer a third option. That we will have an unbalanced and unquitable treatment of the genders. That there will be expansions where female characters dominate, some where male ones do and some fairly balanced and that if WoW were to end one day it will have a fairly balanced gender distribution(if one were to add those individual expansions). But that each individual expansions can be fairly distrinct/not have a gender balance pattern.

They should make all the racial leaders women.

wait isnt chromie a dude?

In the role of a female gnome with a rather high pitched voice as his visage form, I always thought he was a she. However, at some point in the last few years, Blizzard mentioned that she is a he. I think… Honestly, I have no idea how he identifies himself. :person_shrugging:
