It’s to do with the overall systematic changes. Flasks will be cheaper with the quality system, so there will be more need to sink them to keep the stock moving. Get people hooked on chugging cheap flasks in earlier content and grow into using ideal flasks. Is a better system.
I don’t find it complicated at all. In fact, their descriptions of how it will work has me excited for professions for the first time in over a decade.
Couple of thoughts:
- I like the sound of the crafting secondary stats. I agree that Multicraft sounds fun; here’s hoping it also has the chance to put bonus charges on things like Shadestones.
- I don’t mean to be pessimistic, but there’s zero chance that individual crafters will build dedicated followings. People just don’t pay attention to stuff like that.
- The icons are rad. Love the combination of color + number of diamonds / five-sides.
- I foresee there being a problem if a system isn’t in place to upgrade crafted items to higher qualities. For example, if I’m hoping for a Rank 5 quality item and my crafter only makes a Rank 2 because of procs or whatever, I’m gonna be pretty upset.
- I’m genuinely concerned about Engineering, because historically the profession gets a lot of niche consumables that aren’t all that helpful or useful. Like, in Shadowlands, they got one pet, one mount, goggles that didn’t scale, Battle Rezes, and the Mechagon skip in DoS. They were the only crafting profession that wasn’t designed to be part of the Legendary crafting system. They’re generally seek as a “selfish profession” that’s quirky and fun, but not useful. That needs to change.
The commodities change for profession mats is more interesting and worthwhile. No one wants to look at tsm values and see some skewed pricing.
Lookin pretty good, very much like FFXIV (which isn’t a complaint, I liked their crafting system). Definitely some legitimate concerns from more perceptive folks here. Especially the 5 piece cap. Get rid of that garbage.
I suspect it’s a stop auction house goblins from sitting there. Sniping all the crafting jobs as soon as they spawn
A lot of people have over the years. They wanted professions to be more than something where you gathered some basic materials, click “Create All”, then go on a bio break.
I was not one of those people. As a solo player in this big world of Azeroth, I have been looking for something more in the game for a while. This may provide that. Will have to try it out and see. However, I am wondering how Engineering will work with this.
It completely removes the need to run content for gear if you could just hit up the AH and be maxed mythic geared on all slots.
Except the preview stated that you need to run top level content to get the reagents in order to craft top level gear.
There’s a chance that the quality of your mats is based on the skill of the gather? Maybe gatherers who put a lot of time in are guaranteed the better quality due to their skill? That would be a nice way to add a layer of complexity and reward gathers who put in time?
It’s not clarified in here though so here’s hoping?
Right.
Again, people are getting confused about this whole thing. All of this stuff is to say that crafting is basically just badge vendors, except that you have to level up your skills in order to provide progressively higher ilvl wares if you want to LAPR as a badge vendor.
Someone takes their badges, they list them on the AH for the item they want, and then they hope that someone on their server has the ability to fulfill the craft.
So far enjoying it, really glad the ilvl between lowest quality level and highest quality level will be 10 ilvl I think thats a great decision. Phials look interesting sorta build your own flask type of deal which I think are great.
I do have a few concerns however, Primarily:
"Philosophically, the goal of this system is to have professions be a meaningful source of high-end gear, elevating the importance and value of professions. As a crafter, you’ll need to go to significant effort to gain the skill, specialization, and recipes necessary to craft this gear, but it should be well worth it!
As a user of this gear, you will also need to go out and acquire many of the reagents yourself. The Soulbound reagents are designed to provide a means of deterministic, incremental progress towards gear of your choice while doing the activity(s) of your choice. In addition, the quest-acquired reagent mentioned above will limit how quickly you can acquire high-end crafted gear. This will prevent it from overwhelming other sources of gear while giving you the freedom to choose from where and how quickly you want to acquire the other reagents."
Will the quest acquired reagent be similar to the Creation Catalyst where you store charges for the quest, so say if 4 of these quests have been available and I level an alt to max my new alt can do those 4 quests instead of just 1?
Also I have an issue with quality on base reagents like ore/skins/herbs (reagents that aren’t crafted rather gathered). FFXIV recently moved away from HQ gathered reagents like ores and it was a good decision for them. I think the stuff we mine/herb/skin shouldn’t have quality associated with them. However smelted bars and the like which we create through crafting would be ok to have quality on.
My only other possible concerns are the gear and specializations as they have yet to be seen.
Overall really enjoying it, I do hope we may possible be able to have Crafting Orders for older BoP recipes from past expansion (like some weapons and armor) so we can get that transmog.
its patch 10.0, can engineering finally get a crafted portable AH bot?
Seeing as the major City will once again have an auction house (useable by all) I think it would be a good idea, maybe a 30 min or 1 hour CD and toy for engineers.
So…
Keep on skinning and herbalism then.
I’m into it, but as someone who’s interested in focusing on cooking and fishing, it seems a little odd that there’s no quality when it comes to meat and fish. Will there not be different qualities of crafted food?
Please remove the restrictions and make this a more flexible system. I also think item quality may over complicate what looks to be a very promising system. It adds an element of RNG which I believe goes against the principles of why people craft in the first place.
LOL UNBELIEVABLE. I swear Blizz can’t win. They just can’t.
Someone, somewhere, will ALWAYS find something to complain about.
It seems like an interesting change. I prefer deterministic loot over random rewards so it is something that I will investigate. At least I will have something to work towards.
It’s not going to be that difficult once you play and practice through it all…
