new spells datamind. This is interesting, greater blessings coming back?

[Reckoning] Hurls a magical hammer that strikes an enemy for (175% of Spell power) Holy damage. When you or allies with your Greater Blessings take damage, the damage of your next Hammer of Reckoning increases.

Until we learn more I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

I’ve pretty much giving up on Paladin and moved on to Warrior. We are in the tuning phase and we probably won’t see any changes till 10.1.5 or 10.2.

This is the exact spell from legion. We didnt have hammer of wrath then and they gave us this. Once we got HoW back in BFA, they changed it to aura of reckoning.

We’ll see why it is showing back up again. Would be nice if paladins also had buffs. Kinda baffling how buffs are making a strong comeback to all classes except paladins. Like what?

Personally, I would rather ret aura work more like Aura of Reckoning does. That way people dont have to die for us to be empowered. Maybe also give party members a buff when it activates.

Yea ive lost hope on ret paladin. Well thats a big RIP on DF for me. Will probably unsub and move on here in a couple days.

Yeah.

Time to unsubscribe or re roll because they killed ret. Really wish I could play one minute build again with the other changes they’ve made so far. Burst spec plus the consecration holy power generation was sounding like some huge potential.

They rearranged the tree from allowing it earlier to not allowing it.

The blue post stated “allowing for more variation” actually it removed variation and basically defaulted the class to play crusade and spam spenders like legion. Which is fun but I like the one minute better.

Empyrean Legacy is weak and boring.

No Ringing Clarity makes divine toll basically worthless.

divine resonance without ringing clarity baked in is pretty weak as well.

I’m not a fan of 50 second wings and 3 min cooldown. I liked knowing I could clap every one minute and have the wings every two. 1 minute of party and two minutes of hangover is trash.

Thanks for reading

It’s sad that we have to datamine the datamining to find our class changes. Feels like we were supposed to get our blog, but it wasn’t ready in time for the cm team, or they totally forgot.

devs dont care about paladin.

nerfed for df.

Wait 'til rets in DF realize they probably need two sets of gear to be optimal… haste-focused and non-focused.

I apologize for my absence. I experienced a heart event one month ago. I am trying to get caught up on WoW retail and DF. Thank you all for your posts.

I do think the WoW Devs care about the paladin. I am not convinced about what we say about the paladin in this forum as we have not received any feedback from a blue or green poster in this forum in years. The last blue post in this forum was on February 14, 2019.

They probably just don’t have enough devs working on class and spec design, and we got the short end of the stick like Guardian Druids have. :woman_shrugging: I highly doubt any of the developers play Retribution even at a semi-serious level.

This is Blackweb’s ancient Holy Paladin alt from Vanilla WoW. This is actually my most played wow character. I finally got to try out the DF Paladin Prot and Ret specs and I really like them. I was very concerned about losing so many abilities but I am pleased with how they play.

Try it out without taking the Divine Steed conduit or the Ringing Clarity conduit, only wear the Unity lego (no other legendaries) and probably about 6 pieces of gear removed. You’ll get a more accurate feel for Ret then. Also, this doesn’t say anything about how Retribution utility compares to the two other specs, let alone almost every other melee in the game.

Thanks for the good advice. Look at my current gear, it is crappy green blizzard character boost gear. Ret seems fine at level 50. That does not mean it will be fine at 60 or 70. Ret did get more abilities, especially attack or offensive abilities than prot and holy. Seems like ret did ok to me. However, according to what you say, ret needs some tweaking. I will take a look at ret on my 60 prot/ret paladin. This toon is going to be holy for end game and prot and ret for leveling and grinding.

It would be pretty decent with just a few little things, not even very much at all, but if you look at all the stuff most other classes/specs get, it’s pretty disheartening with all the potential wasted, regarding Retribution anyway. We’ve had a couple cool things taken away during beta that would have been perfectly fine for us to have, it’s just that they don’t want us to have them, for some unknown reason. They won’t talk, which is the biggest problem.

Holy actually seems to be decent, although it needs some mana cost tweaks yet. That’s totally within the realm of possibility before DF. What’s not gonna come before DF, though, is the rehaul of the general Paladin tree, which itself is very unimaginative.

Good news everyone. The new M+ seasonal affix now gives immunity to roots and minimum movement speed (100%) while you are debuffed. So now Blessing of Freedom with its rare use is even more useless now. Blizzard really hates rets utility don’t they? But oh my we are the anti movement impairing super heroes. We don’t need any proper movement abilities cause we have the so mighty useful anti movement impairing spell. Gtfo blizz you are the most incompetent game designers i’ve ever seen in my life. What a disgrace.

This is the first beta I have not been a part of for as long as I can remember. Both of my Pallys were created in Vanilla WoW.

I agree, we have not had any communication from the devs since Feb, 14, 2019. That is 3.5 years.

Well said. Quoted for emphasis.

Why won’t you talk to us devs?

I went to the AH and I bought a complete set of Green Ret, Prot and Holy gear for a level 51 Paladin. It is just green “Harmonious” gear. It is nothing special, just leveling gear. I then went back to bastion to quest and level my old-school human Paladin that I made in 2005 in WoW classic. This character was always main spec holy and will be again but I am trying to level as ret.

Based on what I just experienced in the DF pre-patch, RETRIBUTIION WILL HAVE SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS IN DF. Ret DPS is wholly inadequate. I would even call ret DPS absolutely terrible at this point. In order to finish one quest against normal mobs that I attempted as ret in Bastion that was easy for my main paladin character to do as Prot early in Shadowlands, I had to switch to prot to finish it after I died as ret due to horrible DPS and survivability. Self healing was completely inadequate and dps was worse. When fighting normal mobs as ret, I felt like I was fighting elites. When I switched to prot, all my dps and survivability issues went away. I would describe prot dps as 2 or more times higher than ret using the same ilevel gear for both. This was a test of leveling as ret and it was an abject failure due to low dps and poor survivability.

If Ret dps does not improve significantly at level 60 or 70, the spec should be considered non-viable. I am playing my 60 paladin main as prot and having no issues.

Some unique utility for Ret would be good.

Or bring back Blessing of Spellwarding
