Dragonflight Paladin Thread

Well, I think what we are looking at is a “pre-alpha” phasing of the class tree and ret tree.

Judging off the Prot feedback, I think that was mainly what they wanted to begin testing on and the Ret tree was just everything shoved into it. Get everything out there and figure out what’s working and what’s not.

Since Holy wasn’t even implemented yet, I doubt the Class tree is anything close to what it will end up looking like.

I certainly hope you’re correct about that; there’s a lot that I don’t like about the class tree’s design: besides forcing players to spend points on things they don’t want to get the things they need, it doesn’t take any spec-specific abilities and make them available to all three specs (I was hoping for HotR and Denounce), and auras probably shouldn’t even be in the talent trees unless they’re something new and exciting like Sanctity Aura or Aura of Mercy.

Just to add, I think the Talent, Calm before the Storm should be changed from.
Enemies hit by your Divine Storm take 50% more damage from your Consecration for 8 sec.
To. Divine Storm deals % more damage to enemies in your Consecration.
That way the damage is more instant and you don’t have to have enemies remaining in your Consecration for a full 8 seconds. Plus it would synergize more with Divine Purpose, Empyrean Power and Tempest of the Lightbringer. Of course you wouldn’t want the % damage increase to be too high. Or it could potentially out perform Templar’s Verdict/Final Verdict on single target when combined with Tempest of the Lightbringer.

I also feel something like Consecrated Ground (Your Consecration is 15% larger, and enemies within it have 50% reduced movement speed) would probably be better in the Class Tree than the Ret Tree. As its more of a utility talent, then a dps talent.

If blizzard really wants to make avengers shield not generate. Could we got a choice nod on double judgement talent point that would let us pick between AS generating and double judgement. You could do double judgement for raid and avengers shield generation for m+

This would be nice.

Great posts everyone!

Please upvote this thread. This is not my thread, it is OUR thread.

Crusader Strike has been weak since the beginning. It either needs more physical damage or a holy damage bolt-on. The original pre-vanilla-release beta crusader strike can sill be seen in live Stratholme in classic. It is a hard hitting melee strike with a nasty holy dot. I am not sure CS needs a dot but a holy component that scales off of weapon damage might be good. CS used to be a 110% of weapon damage but now it is a fixed amount that probably scales with strength or AP.

CS is just a fixed amount of physical damage now (I currently show 915 damage on my toon) and that is insufficient.

Its also int Prot tree to be honest so I guess all spec might get it somewhere in their tree

:dizzy:Consecration :dizzy:

I hope Consecration becomes a top 5 damage producing spell.

With all the talents that buff or interact with Consecrate we could see a Consecration centric build. Sounds like fun.

Art of War proced Consecrated Blade drops Consecration, a HP builder, and 160% buffed Consecrate is possible.

Crusader’s Judgment would honestly just be useful for all three specs, surprised it’s not in the class tree instead of a few of these other nodes.

The last time cons did good damage was (iirc) when it simmed as a dps gain in aoe during a short time in BFA. Even then it was still not taken because drumroll it has a positional requirement! This is counter to the way M+ is played even by your average player.

I’d like it to work out as well but honestly, just make it into a holy version of Remorseless Winter, you know, pulsing holy lightning or something. Homogenization? Meh, give me things that work well. The game needs to be designed with how it’s actually played in mind, not mere theatrics and visual flavor.

Just get Seal of mercy and Calm before the storm and you deal 150% consecration dmg on 1 target but 50% on all other.

Then you add incendescence to drop a little explosion from your HP abilities.
Combine with the AoE from Banish its gonna be great.

Like during cata with the glyph it was the best time.

Currently from what I’ve seen from people testing in the Alpha, its a negligent increase and not worth taking. Of course that could change with tuning

Honestly, I just think that’s the new design we are moving towards. Can’t have everything.

This would be my first “mock-up” of the Class talents. Take everything that’s existing and rearrange it a bit. Remove Auras, except Devo and delete Divine Steed cause it’s dumb. lol

Anything that’s relatively “new” has a star and a side legend for clarity.

I’d like to see so much more done, honestly, but this is where I’d start at least…

Also, could we get the D2 Artist to make Devo Aura look cool

I think Blizzard is set on Divine Steed and Retribution Aura being a thing. Even if we don’t like it, we can at least meet Blizzard halfway on it.

I will always advocate that Divine Steed at least have a glyph to use the Speed of Light animation, particularly for the larger races.

Retribution Aura I think giving seraphim is a good step, but I think it should do more. Have it provide the raid a very low % chance to do extra holy damage on spells and attacks. If someone in the raid dies the % jumps up significantly, or if someone in the party has Avenging Wrath active.

Also I saw some debate about Aura Mastery being put in the class tree on the alpha forums. Just my two cents ret does have a history of being able to access it during Wrath, so their is precedent. Do I want this, not necessarily, but adding to the debate.

This one need a big rework. It used to return dmg before but now its useless what if no one die and you always have Dmg reduc on and Silence one too. Oh well lets put the Mount one then. Ret need an usefull one that deal dmg. So Prot could also use it as well

Maybe something that work in similar way as Bramble does to guardian druid. But all the dmg get stored and released upon a spell activation.

I honestly wish they would just remove ret aura and rebalance the class around that.

I’m expecting a 90%'ish uptime on Consecration in Dragonflight on many encounters!

I’ve seen the same thing. The direct Consecration buffs are obvious and easy to measure.

 It is the HP generation rate we need to find out. In the current Alpha 1 cast of Consecrate deals twice the damage of 1 Crusader Strike.

:face_with_monocle: In other words Consecration will be in the DPS rotation above Crusader Strike if the HP generation is at lest 1 HP per cast.

Check out my idea of a Ret aura rework.
Tell me what you think about it.

I’m seeing more “listening” than ever before with some of the other class feedback. But historically I’d agree, which I believe is a core reason the player base is so low. Heads in the sand!
