The only relevant argument made are by the millions who keep subscribing.
Iād go with most were ambivalent towards SL. Overall most people hated it, but there were some parts, like maldraxxus or revendreth that people also adored.
A person can hate or dislike the overall narrative of an expansion while also liking the parts that were done pretty well
they could make panda demon hunters for all I care,
as long as I get my Worgen Shaman and Forsaken Paladin
You did not answer the question.
I have answered this question numerous times for the majority of players itās a GAME. Kill the monsters get the loot. Follow the story from one contest to the next.
Ok.
But nobody asked if it was or was not a game. Games can be good, bad or in between.
You stated that āmillions keep subscribingā as an answer to whether or not the majority of players either liked or disliked Shadowlands. That is not an answer to the question.
You have contested the notion that a majority of players dislike Shadowlands. What is your notion here? That the majority like it? Are ambivalent?
Side tangent and completly irrelevant to anything going on, but I want people to know that Meera and Nisha plus Dolly and Dot, part of the Horde vulpera caravan made it to the Dragon Isles. They can be found in Ohnāahran Plains by Forkriver Crossing
(Special thanks to Kaileath for reminding me about those two)
More importantly, so did Dolly and Dot. This is the real news here.
Canāt forget about the best girls. I shall have to add them to my post. Thanks
That the majority donāt give a plugged nickel about the issues that people are such drama queens about in this forum.
are my best friends!!
They pull my way-gin through dunes of sands!!
You are still not answering the question.
That is the answer You asked about the " the majority of the players" not the drama queens in this subforum. And that majority has already forgotten about the issues that you and the others are trying to foment a row about.
It is still not.
The issue at hand was whether or not people liked Shadowlands.
Are you now saying the majority of players have forgotten whether or not they liked Shadowlands?
That is a strange thing to say, Drahl. I donāt think the majority of players have goldfish brains.
Like Agent J says to Agent K.
Shadowlands is the old junk, weāre all doing the new jive now. Most people who played Shadowlands played it. Some folks liked the system, most hardly paid it any mind other than to choose the Best In Slot Covenant powers for raiding.
Shadowlands for better or worse is done. The folks that quit over it are GONE.
The rest have moved on to flying proto-drakes.
Interestingly enough while I was still at 60 once Dragonflight opened I found that the only dungeons I could queue for were the BFA ones which now scale up to 60. Of course that option isnāt there any more now that Iām 62.
Nor can I find groups for the Zereth Mortis open world bosses because againā¦ the bulk of players have moved on. And now so do I.
Ok.
But do you believe they liked it, disliked it, or were ambivalent to it?
You keep saying a lot, but you never answer this very simple question. Are you sure you want to take the stance that saying the majority of players disliked Shadowlands is wrong? You donāt seem sure of that stance, given you have avoided answering a simple question quite a lot.
Itās okay to say you do not want to answer it.
Itās not a simple question because neither you nor I are going to go out and arrange every single player.
What we can do is observe mass trends and the mass trend now is that people kept playing and subscribing. You canāt show evidence that there was a major chunk of the player base that cared. What we can observe is that we had the normal player drop off over time, especially since there wasnāt that much content overall. So the ones that stayed were the folks who kept grinding out faction or were doing things such as collecting material to create pets and mounts, an activity a lot of people enjoyed even if they didnāt care about the meta plot.
And the stance Iāve been taking is that most of the players did not care about the issues with the metastory. Most players have NEVER cared about the metastory, and unlike you, see it as a separate thing that mainly served to introduce the next dungeon or raid, but not something to emotionally invest in.
The vast majority of Warcraft players have absolutely ZERO interest in either the metastory or the roleplay. Theyāre mainly here to skill stuff and maybe socialise on the side. The dissatisfaction that they did show was in the slow pace and relative paucity of content development.
If shadowlands was such a success we would see the same gameplay elements it introduced recreated for Dragon Flight.
The people who develope this game and all the data available to them saw something so alarmingā¦ or āencouragingā they decided to bin everything they have done until now and re-invent the talents, skills, gameplay style and do away with annoying grinds and tone down the story to something more grounded.
Do you have evidence of this mass trend of people still playing and subscribing?
The only data Iāve seen to date, sourced by third parties using only third party data, suggested rather the opposite. That Shadowlands saw significantly lower engagement with instanced content than BfA and even more decreased from Legion. It is only third party data, but to date itās the only data available and certainly does not support an argument that a mass trend of people staying subbed and happy exists.
Where is the data supporting this mass trend coming from?
Yeah, the people still playing and subscribingā¦ The multiple server meltdowns during launch week. The mass hangouts at Stormwind and Orgrimmar. The frenzied auction house activity for reagents.
Pretty much what you would expect of a beginning of a new expac revival.
