That was neat. I liked it, but I would by lying if I said I wasn’t hoping that it would talk more about how the Dracthyr were made rather than how they were put to sleep.
Still, I like that they told a bit of a story this time around. I also love how Nozdormu neither confirms or denies her guesses at the enemy.

Wait… that’s what happened? Did you really just … 3rd Gen DK the Dracthyr?
Can we please get a new lead writer?
NAFARION DID NOTHIGN WRONG
Think you mixed up some stuff.
According to the lore we have, Curse of Flesh happened about 15,000 years ago to the Vrykul. The ancestors to the Humans.
And the new lore we are getting with the Dracthyr state they were imprisoned for about 20,000 years.
So yeah, if this Visage form of Neltharion is based off human or Vrykul, they are a little off on the times.
I think I think I got this, I think the infinity gauntlet is keeping him from going full corrupted mode what like in my Chinese Cartoons, like how Inuyasha is kept from going full demon. When it breaks, it’s game over.
And before you say “But deathwing isn’t part old god”, I bet he snuck around behind the titans back and messed with that stuff and used the infinity gauntlet to not go full void so it makes the lore MORE DEEP AND COMPLEX which is obviously the aim of Danuser’s lore changes.
I mean, there always had to have been a point where he stopped fighting the whispers of the Old Gods and did the “Surrender to Madness” move. We just know exactly when it was, now.
Arguably, the Titans had a “human” form since the beginning of everything, and modeled the races of Azeroth off themselves loosely. The only difference was flesh versus stone/metal/diamond/whatevs. Didn’t they?
Why wasn’t this type of stuff IN THE GAME!
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
You mean these cutscenes? They will be.
I was kind of hoping for a bigger reveal than Deathwing broke his Nintendo… I mean titan power glove, ate some void, and locked away the Dracthyr for reasons.
At the end it says prepurchase now and get early access to the new class drathyr evoker, however can’t you still not make one cause I haven’t seen any dragons around.
?? How are you getting that?
No as a part of the gameplay so much potential in this game ruined. Or maybe the engine is just too old and can’t handle rendering awesome scenes like these for telling such a more in depth experience.
Or they just don’t want to waste resources… ugh who knows.
Not sure these were as good as past animatics, both in storytelling and visuals. Kinda wish they didn’t dedicate all 3 to the dracthyr and instead did one for each dragonflight to set up some background for them going into dragonflight.
considering shadowlands, I’d call that retcon progress.
Its incredible, isnt it! Blizzard has the greatest writers and story developing team ive ever witnessed. I thought shadowlands was already blizzards greatest top shelf story telling but from the little ive seen of dragonflight it is already looking like the writing team has outdone themselves yet again!
They’re not, at least imo. A lot of the previous animated shorts got me pumped for their respective expansions, but this series isn’t doing much for me so far. There’s just nothing that has really hooked me in.
Also, I’m going to call it now. Watch Emberfall become a forgettable character in the game itself, like Devos in Shadowlands. I will never get over how dirty they did Devos and Uther in SL. Their animated short set them up SO WELL, but their stories were completely botched in game. These writers are awful at character writing and development.
Also, can Evokers get polearms like literally all these guys? They just look so fitting. There’s a reason the animatic artist team picked up on that, even if the actual developers didn’t.

Neat animation, but I was expecting something better from Nozdormu’s blind spot than “Neltharion had a smartwatch”.
