not really , you always have to try and fail to find a hit. you cannot determine beforehand . in the grand scheme of things , HBO or WoW are pretty successful services proven time and time again by numbers
If you raided at any relevant level yes, you had to grind AP to unlock the powerful Azerite powers, especially early on. I donāt think anyone who stepped foot into a m+ or a raid wanted to be doing it with unactivated Azerite powers no?
Is this really the best argument people have?
I see we have reached the āthe last expansion was actually good!ā phase of a new WoW expansion. It will be exciting to see people talk about how much they loved DF in 11.1 & beyond and how bad that expansion is in comparison.
I only got through FR to get to ZC and havenāt done a lot of content there butā¦
If Forbidden Reach is supposed to be a stepping stone for players to get from Storyline content to ZC and the rewards are tuned to be somewhere between those two areas, should not the enemies faced there reflect that?
I think that they should be tougher than on the mainland but not raid bosses.
I.E. At the ilvl of the gear that drops they should be
Easily done with a group of 3-5
Doable with 2
Difficult but not impossible to solo if you know what you are doing.
IMO
r/wow consists almost entirely of a bunch of morons. Their opinions are meaningless and always have been.
Funny, because the game Iām playing feels like the polar opposite; you donāt have endless grinds that only hardcore players would do 24/7, you have tons of casual content that BFA/SL just never had, M+ balancing has been a mess this season and the dungeon pool was unbalanced last season which was frustrating for hardcore players, and this expansion definitively has the worst batch of raids thus far in the last 15 years including a huge amount of drama this tier that pissed off hardcore players like no tomorrow.
I legit donāt know how this expansion is āputting too much time and effort into pleasing hardcore playersā when everythingās pointing towards the opposite.
Honestly, Iām no WoW veteran. In fact, I have not been playing long at all. As a new player with no past expansion bias I can honestly say that this game has a ton of shortcomings. I find that most people saying that the game is the best it has ever been are people who have been playing for a long time and that have a lot of time invested. They may also be comparing it to past, extremely disappointing expansions.
I find the end game incredibly convoluted and I highly doubt Iām alone in that thought. Crazy to think that most people say it was 10x worse in Shadowlands. I think it is easy for veterans of the game to preach how great it is because they have the benefit of familiarity. The game does an absolutely terrible job guiding new players. I have another week on my subscription and I will continue to play and familiarize myself with the processes but right now I do not believe I have the will nor the time to play this game efficiently.
people have no reason to log on, they complained until it was all removed so they quit.
You misread what I said. During SL, I still had a desire to play the game. With DF I canāt even be bothered to login.
These replies exist because DF is objectively good. But blizzard is stepping on their own toes with D4 right now, and there are other better games to play these days. Best expansion so far imo; but my main objective of pvp gearing has been made easy so Iām done in about a month and then itās just up to me how much of the buggy, convoluted systems I want to take part in appeal, which isnāt much. I like the game, thereās just better uses of my time.
I think itās like this:
Lets say you have a kid. And he gets the following report card
F
F
D
F
D
F
And then next semester he brings home this report cart
C
C
B
C
B
C
You canāt really say youāre mad about it, and youāll probably tell the kid he did a lot better and that youāre pleased with his progressā¦ even though itās amazingly average and thereās other kids out there that just do those same things better.
You hit the nail on the head for me. All of these things are definitely things that have driven me to be far less invested in wow.
What nobody seems to understand is that gameplay systems can be āgoodā but in an MMORPG, if you donāt have an engaging narrative to keep people hooked, nobody is going to want to log in to play those systems. They treat the game like itās pong but itās not. Itās much more than a minigame.
Also, an engaging narrative means much more than introducing new shiny characters that ālookā cool but in the end have zero depth. Itās the difference between Arthas and the Jailer.
These āprimalsā, who exactly are they? Why do I care about them in any way other than to put them down? Also why do I care about the fate of the dragonflights? Weāve been handling things without them just fine since Cataclysm. The answer is I donāt and if I donāt care, I donāt play.
We have absolutely not talked about how good Shadowlands was. It was absolutely the worst expansion ever released and 9.1 was the most damaging patch of all time and nothing even comes remotely close.
Broā¦ what? Each SL covenant had a casual activity (Abominable Stitching, Night Fae Farm, etc.) and it also had Torghast. The covenant assaults were also WAY more interesting than any of Dragonflight assaults. What does DF have? Zskera vaults (that took longer to get keys for than to actually do) and Sniffenseeking that is like 5 minutes of content per week?
Have we ever considered that sometimes a patch is just lack luster and thatās not definitive of an expansion? I donāt really hate zaraleck caverns but Iām not that excited about them either. Theyāre just okay and Iām very ready to move on from them.
Dragonflightās start was stronger than bfa and certainly stronger than shadowlands.
Here is my hot take.
I think DF is great overall.
ZC is sadly extremely underwhelming. The rare farm of FR made the zone very alive and vibrant. Especially for alt catch up.
ZC was dead in week 2 of release.
I never managed to play for that long in an expansion. Usually I am busy with work and sometimes due to travel I canāt play for a few weeks (missed DF 10.0 and 10.1 release by a few weeks each). Former expansions just made me quit because catching up just felt like an impossible chore.
I understand why people who play and are used to be able to progress 4 hours every day are ālet downā.
But you can be a crafter.
Push M+ on DPS, Heal and Tank.
Raid.
Do silly stuff with friends and guild.
(I do all of those except raid, who has time for that. I usually have time for 1-2 keys in the evening)
This time for example I managed to play 4 classes to 2k rating (and my main to 2.8/2.4k) for S1 and S2.
I can try out all the classes to find my favourite one by trying them in āhigh endā content. (Miss you Legion MM )
The only bad thing is some talent trees (and classes) are extremely undercooked.
Open world in 10.1 feels way worse than 10.0 and 10.0.5.
This time thought you have to play for your own reasons since you get the carrot very fast. I love it honestly. Being geared and pushing M+ for the rating instead of the gear is much more comfortable and motivating.
I heared they want to slow down gearing for 10.2. Please donāt.
Itās quite interesting for meā¦
I do like Dragonflight, I think itās a great game. But my complaints for it are mostly aesthetics. Iām so tired of Dragonsā¦ It can only go so far until your completely over the theme.
I donāt care for Valdrakken as a capitol city. I just donāt care for the lay out of it. And the BGM is very lack luster (not a fan of alot of the scores this expac unfortunatelyā¦ it sounds like theyāre infusing wow BGM with new world, and it ruins my headspace sometimes.)
The crafting stuff feels so convoluted. I canāt be bothered with it. Until I learn that I absolutely need it for something I refuse to dive into it.
I also do not care for the dungeon design for the expansion mythic plus dungeons. Some of them are okay and I still grind them but thereās so many better dungeons.
I know this is a very unpopular opinion but there are a lot of aspects of SL I miss. Sure Iām glad we donāt have to deal with another korthia. Or choregast. All the obvious stuff they realized was wrong and fixed. But I miss the SL aestheticā¦ it was a little darker, and contained multiple separate themes with all the different zones which were very definitive (angel land, zombie land, elf land, vampire land, hell, to put it in lamens terms.) I felt orbios was a better capitol city with way better BGM. Overall the music was just way better in SL I felt. And I was a huge huge fan of all of the SL dungeons. Iām sure another unpopular opinion. I also really enjoyed the covenant system. I know it was a pain for the first half of SL because of timegating the skill tree for them but eventually they just opened it up freelyā¦ And I think it became an awesome system I wish I saw something like it in the core game tbh.
So although Iām glad they got things dialed in for certain aspects with DF (but to be fair the last couple seasons of SL were also pretty dialed in). There are other aspects that are just lacking for me. I still play it because I love wow.
The main complaints I hear from my friends who used to play wow; they feel game play currently is just too convoluted. Too many spells. Things are overcomplicated for themā¦ The people saying this are wow veterans too ā¦ I was surprised to learn this was the overall general consensus of all of my friends who came back to give DF a try. I had one friend who got back into the game and kept me rolling getting toons to 70 and couldnt find any class that felt good to him he just kept saying thereās too many spells and itās overly complicated, this particular person was a glad at one time.
Well my guild just died.
Best expansion ever I guess.
Consider also that this is the only expansion on Retail that has offered plenty of trial periods and discount windows. Itās nothing like weāve ever seen before. I actually find it creepy to be honest. During the holidays, I can understand it, but if an expansion was really GOOD the PRICE would matter a whole lot less. It would be almost impossible to buy DF at full retail price or anywhere close to it.
And then I hear that D4 is tanking. Good grief; right at the same time that Warlock is now a universal class.
So yeah, something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark for this one.
