I got the priest set i wanted and finished my transmog and kinda felt complete. So time for the good Ole WoW break until the urge to play comes back lol
I was enjoying it a lot until 10.1 came out. I just feel overwhelmed now and I still didnāt get several drops that I needed from āDenizens of environmental stormsā that no longer seem to occur. I kept missing the half-hour event in the Cavern last week and never completed the weekly. I did one Fryakk invasion and got flashbacks to molten front. I keep forgetting to do barter brick quests, just a lot to keep up with. I am having fun just hanging around and crafting and running a few instances per week with friends who are still playing and Iām still farming the pvp appearances in casual Bgs.
I think Blizzard were on the right path with Forbidden Reach and Zaralek Caverns but messed up in the last mile. The rewards donāt go far enough so people lose interest in a week or so. Then you have no one wanting to do the group content so even alts canāt easily use it for catch-up gear.
If they gave players a reason to poke their heads in and keep the zone active, I think they would be doing a lot better across the board. I like expansive open world content idea but without something to keep the playerbase wanting to come back, it keeps going stale within a week or two and that just seems a massive waste of effort. The vaults in FR seem a perfect example of this; nifty idea and fun to do in your downtime but without a reason or reward, they became pointless within a few weeks and the whole system is now rusting from disuse.
Iām 20 and my brother is 18 so weāre pretty close in age, but I feel a generation behind him.
He saw me playing wow and told me I was a loser lmao, then he goes back to melting his brain with tik tok but alasā¦
He plays video games too, I donāt wanna act like everyone his age thinks like him but I wouldnāt be surprised if most did.
Gear is too plentiful. People get to 440 in two weeks.
Zaralek caverns is fine except for the weekly because I have to go there.
Forbidden reach sucked because of annulet.
Thereās no reason to give people an āincentiveā aka gear surpassing mythic raid.
The proverbial carrot on a stickā¦
Damned if you donāt, damned if you do.
There needs to be more to work for the carrot on a stick. It needs to be challenging so we spend more time working towards it. But the carrot on a stick needs to not be a carrot on a stick in the sense of dangling it to everyone where no one can actually get it.
Carrot on stick has seen multiple versions over the years. The current iteration is too easy to complete, but not by much. Difficulty, and the inevitable time-sink, needs to go up a bit, but it needs to happen in a way that doesnāt alienate the current super-casual either.
My opinion? Make a version of mythic+ for raids, and give lots more cool cosmetics/titles/mounts, or anything not tied to player power for the upper echelons of the gaming community. And some of these items need to be super super super rare and hard to get.
From a player-power point of view, the game is about spot on now with difficulty vs reward. The game just needs more to cater to the more hardcore to entice them to seek said items.
Came back after a few year break to try DF and its been pretty good so far. Got AOTC in aberrus, 2k IO in m+ and found a decent guild and got my druid to 433 ilvl. Well see how long i keep playing but its fun so far! The gear upgrade system is really nice.
I ve been playing less than 12 hrs a month except for this week the fire festival I took one of my characters from the fifties to level sixty just collecting blossoms.
I donāt even know why Iām doing that its not like theyāve added anything new.
Speaking on behalf of the solo players, dragonflight is a garbage expansion. Donāt want to raid, fine. Donāt want to run endless dungeons, fine. Donāt want to pvp, fine. That leaves open world contentā¦ Oh wait DF open world content requires group play. So what is left for solo players to do, which is the majority of the player base, but to quit, unsub, and move on to games like D4. I hated DF since itās release. I donāt find any enjoyment from it and would rather spend my time in legacy content.
Its almost like making a video game your entire life is a bad choiceā¦??
I wonāt be renewing my sub. It ends Soonā¢ā¦ It isnāt because there is nothing to do. there is all kinds of stuff to do. Iām just tired of reinforcing the developers bad decision making. my complaints are several.
First I donāt want to follow down the road where the developers are going in regards to some aspects of the game. Secondly I donāt like what theyāve done to solo play. As such my dollars have gone elsewhere. Iāve basically only logged into the game to do the traders stuff for the last couple of months. Third I hate renown.
For me Iāve quit the game a couple of times beforeā¦ Back in Cata and then again in WODā¦ I did take a small break in Legionā¦ But this time feels differentā¦ Iām actually contemplating giving away my stuff.
I donāt know if any else has brought this up but I think Diablo 4 is really hurting dragonflight. Itās launch has been shoved down the throats of every battle.net user and fomo is at its highest now.
Blizzard gave us a lot of what we wanted and removed a lot of what we hated and we are proving them right in that as a player base we donāt know what we want. We have too many tedious chores, we complain but keep playing. We have fewer chores, we complain and stop playing the game. Donāt be surprised when next expansion rolls around and itās back to the same old same old chore hell.
This community will never be satisfied and will ultimately be the downfall of WoW altogetherā¦or weāll just keep our subs active playing classic wow
I feel it. The most productive Ive been in ācurrentā content was level this guy to 70. He even made it to the main hub (valdrakken?)
Considering i loathe the flying mechanicsāand thats the most efficient mode of transportationāi havent seen hardly anything related to the new expansion outside the Trading post.
With my limited time, ive been unlocking allied races, bgāing, and tweaking mogs instead.
What a world. Haha
Bad players not enjoying the expansion? Shocker.
A lot of people are playing Diablo right now
When I started playing at 16 (very end of Legion) The game felt amazing. I had grown up playing Everquest with my dad and I chose WoW as MY personal MMO of choice. I enjoyed learning about the lore and such. BFA was my first standalone expansion, and it started off strong! I loved the Warfront lore (JUST THE LORE) and the feel of 2 sides clashing at each other. But when they did Nazjatar and all the Black Empire stuff for the rest of the expac, it killed my enjoyment for the game. I didnāt enjoy the cloak grind, I didnāt enjoy sitting in +15 keys trying to farm azerite.
I remember pushing myself to clear NyāAlotha and after I practically went played Classic with my dad. It felt almost magical as an 18 year old at that point. The fantasy and wonder in Classic was amazing since it was my first time getting my hands on it yāknow? But TBC wasnāt enjoyable. Neither is grinding a million + exp per level in Wrath.
So I got hyped seeing Revendreth and Sire Denathrius back when Shadowlands was being announced. Hell, I LOVED the aesthetic of the Maldraxxians and Maldraxxus. I played it on launch and it well, it kinda sucked to be completely honest. So after doing a full clear of Castle Nathria (Great Raid in my opinion.) I unsubbed. I just couldnāt find that feel for the magic in Azeroth.
Dragonflight got announced as I was trying to find my way around Eorzea in FF14 (pretty decent, but ARR takes SO stupidly long.) Dragonflight seemed interesting at best. My only peak interest were the Infinite Dragonflight (Love 'em to death), the Black Dragonflight because Wrathion was making a comeback same with Ebyssian, and the Blue Dragonflight because of Kalecgos (I grew up reading the Warcraft Manga). When it shipped it was pretty decent at best. It felt odd, not being forced into having to do a 3 hour intro quest, and I didnāt give a damn for the red or green dragonflight bits. But for the rest of it, it was OK. I completed Vault of the Incarnates, and Iāve cleared Aberrus, but if Iām being honest, the only real thing I like about Aberrus at all is EoN (Echo of Neltharion) I donāt care for the Sundered Flame, or any of that BS. Eridikron looks to be promising, but I donāt have much hope. I just play the game at this rate because I like the old world lore (even some of the dumb, the bad, and the ugly.) Iām now 21, going on 22 in January of 2024, and I can only hope for some comeback of love to the game. It just doesnāt feel the same. I grew up fascinated by Warcraft 3 as a literal kid, and the lore it had. I LOVED Deathwing and reading about him during the Cata expac, but itās like either the fantasy train is being curbstomped, or they just donāt have the passion anymore. The maw in the beginning was very promising, but after the beta test they turned Torghast into Choregast. Literally feels almost like I gotta grind these damn flightstones for any sense of progression.
Thatās just my opinion. Thanks for reading, and any criticism is welcomed! This is a forum after all!
Youre playing the wrong game. This is a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER online RPG and your upset there isnt enough solo content. Thats like walking into an ice cream parlor and getting mad you cant get the oil changed in your car.
I think a lot of people are just addicts and no longer have the same excuse to sink hours upon hours into the game. The fix they want hasnāt been around in ages but at least it was easy to go āBlizzard is MAKING me do this to stay up to date!!!ā in prior expansions. Now everything is more or less optional, and thereās no shield of grinding content to hide behind.
And no, there is no happy medium between āoptionalā and ārequiredā for content. WoW players tend to have zero self-control, and would stick a fork in their eye and crawl over broken glass if a site told them theyāll get something an hour earlier. Even in Cata you had people complaining that Blizzard was āforcing themā to run heroics in order to cap Valor. Legion was another good example of this, Blizzard created a casual grind of constant upgrades with the artifacts. What did players do? Mindlessly run Helmouth Cliffs until their eyes bled to max out AP and then complain that they were burnt out.
I agree, Diablo 4 has taken a lot of players away from WoW. However, It doesnt help that Dragonflight is relatively boring. I love the system changes. I think thats the best part of the game and why I stayed subbed for so long. Talents, gearing, professions, dragon flying itself and etc. I think all those things are great. I think the game feels super good to play for lack of a better term.
However, the story is boring. The characters are boring. The zones are boring. Everything is super safe and uninspired. They have all these cool things happening behind the scenes that I love but the content thats carrying it is boring.
Thatās what happens when Blizzard is more worried about activism and forcing us to sign a contract saying we will be nice than development of a game. Itās sad to see it turn into this.
I donāt think its a problem with the game look at what its competing with right now. I think its one of the best expansions and i really emhoy my time in game but i only raud log right now. But again zelda and diablo 4 were uust released basically 2 once in a decade games that are both amazing. There is also ffxvi. Like the games that have come out this year are amazing and im not even considering the remakes and other games. It doesnt matter how good the wow expansion is or isnt i still think the 20 year old game would be struggling. On the flip side i have multiple friends who were excited for all these different games but havent played because theyve been so addicted to WOW. So idk man i think your conclusion is wrong and you are missing important context.
