Dragon Riding VS Pathfinder

This is Blizzard we’re talking about here, the folks who still haven’t managed to properly allocate the resources to crank out a single set of armor for each of the races still lacking heritage armor.

You absolutely have to get all the glyphs, it is worth getting them all in each zone as you’re leveling before you move on with the story. Once you do, it is way faster and more convenient than regular flying. But the typical WoW player make histrionic reactions based on their first few minutes in the Waking Shore.

It’s not about the vigor at all. That’s fine and recharges quick enough to do anything usually. It’s annoying to me that I can’t hover and look around, sometimes I see a good gathering node and I fly into it at 800% before mobs around it even load, turns out it was a bunch of 1M hp elites and I’m a dead man.

Short distances constantly hopping while leveling is annoying compared to the old mounts.

Not being able to cast a spell to dismount is annoying.

Again I enjoy it for what it is, it’s fun and I love the courses. Should still allow other mounts.

You can cast to dismount. You just have to add some spells to the Dragonriding hot bar.

It’s not a lack of resources, its lack of Return of Investment to create yet another high detail Human and Orc set of heritage armor when those races already have half a dozen variations on “Heritage” armor.

That said, when Blizzard can spin it as a big marketing event, 20th Anniversary of WoW / 30th Anniversary of the franchise I wouldn’t be surprised to see Human and Orc get their missing heritage armor.

This is so disingenuous. Unless you have a major visual processing disorder then there is absolutly no way you “neither have the time or the ability to see any scenery”. Thats truly just a garbage comment and we both know it. My wife DOES have a visual processing disorder and has not once complained that she was moving too fast to see anything. I mean do you drive a car? Ride a bike? Do those real life activities make it impossible for you to see, and if so how are you doing them?

I swear 90% of you people complaining have not gotten past the initial shock of the new system and just decided to give up and come to the forums and complain. Yes, its a challenge at first with 2 vigor. It’s supposed to be. It takes 45 mins or so to get all the glyphs. and thats if you aren’t good at timing your glides or traversing some of the larger mountains. Once you get 4 and then 6 vigor you can literally fly across the island without ever landing at “warp 9.8” (rofl). It’s not difficult. You can even get in the air with hitting space bar twice, and point in the direction you want to go, then just sit there not putting in any input. If you descend, hit space bar and gain altitude. Occasionally steer toward your target destination. Minimal engagement. I haven’t pressed any of the other Dragonriding skills other than space bar outside of the initial training quest. Normal flying requires more input than this.

Seriously, you all just like to hear yourselves complain.

Big if true. Will do that later when I play, bless your soul.

I’m sure it will get better in time but right at the start it’s clunky as crap but I guess that’s the point of making it a progression instead of the :boom:boom :boom: no-clip combat skip we’d like it to be right out of the gate.

Gw2 skyscale had skills to be leveled up but its vigor bar regened every time you touch the ground so if you needed to climb something high you could circle it and hop from level to level. I’ve missed platforms by inches and it feels bad, man. I just hope it feels less like driving a flying buick and more like a mazarati once you nab all the coin things.

And the constant shrieking is like a screwdriver in the ear but I have a mute button for that, I suppose

Some people in GD would hate getting literal free money if it was given to them. People are crazy.

Let’s be honest tho. They don’t really want open world content, what they actually want is to be able to afk in Valdrakken and get BiS every tier while trolling in trade chat.

there is nothing wrong with dragon riding. i personally prefer it over a ground mount that has to run an extra 10 minutes just to get around a mountain. it just was not necessary. what ever happened to leveling on ground mounts, hit max level, go to trainer and pay for your flight license. why does blizzard always have to go the long way.

Ya but Proto-Drakes, Drakes, Wyverns, and Pterodactyls have the exact same rigs as the 4 Dragon Riding dragons. It should be pretty simple to enable.

You need to enable the option in options its a checkbox so u can dismount mid flight with a cast/attack.

EDIT: The toggle option is in interface and is labeled as “Auto Dismount in Flight”

I dont like it because its limited and you gotta grind out the stuff for it.
You cant just fly around and stay aloft because you run outta gas. Not sure how it works are 70 beause I am stuck at 62 but so far dragon riding sucks.

The pathfinder was grindy too.

What we want is flying like it used to be. At max level for gold. PERIOD.

lol…its NOT engaging…you zoom by everything so fast you have ZERO ‘engaging’ time…pick another word…engaging is out in the world, sittng in the air, taking the scenery in…you cannot do that with this
people all enjoy different things…learn to accept that
not everyone will agree with you on this, or anything else…people enjoy what they enjoy

Pretty sure I have that checked already, has always been toggled, but like someone else said adding an ability to the dragon bar might clear that up. One issue of many solved.

I just do not see the downside of allowing regular flying at this point for those who want to use it.

What exactly does allowing the small percentage of us to use the old much slower flying hurt? It doesn’t allow us to do anything a dragonrider can’t, from what I can see. It’s actually just slower.

I think it’s great. Sometimes I just go flying around just to mess about. It feels faster than ‘regular’ flying, the mechanics in it feel like some level of skill is involved, the animations feel more dynamic. Best of all? It’s not forcing me to be on the ground 100% of the time, and a flying that isn’t locked behind a bunch of annoying achievements that feel pointless and grindy.

Ya I have a few abilities on my dragon riding bar depending on class, for my mage I have my barrier spell, and blink on it as well as Fire Blast (instant Cast). As a shaman I recommend having spirit wolf. You can also add the mount to the bar and clicking on it will dismount you.

I do think we should have regular flying in as well, the two systems can co-exist but I think blizzards attempt was to curtail botting. Hopefully we can get it as soon as 10.1

Was looking at the green one might be more esthetically more pleasant lol. Personally… I really just want my Fel Reaver mount from HFC for Dragon Riding.

Probably make me physically sick beyond belief but it will be absolutely, no doubt totally worth it going mach 5 and random barrel rolls lol.

Yeah, GD is quite the enigma. So far Dragon Riding has been met with praise everywhere else except here. Anyone that has actually spent more than 5 minutes to understand how it works will know that it objectively more fun navigating zones with it over normal flying.

There’s no such thing as “objectively more fun.” If you find it fun, that’s subjectively what you believe it to be, not an objective judgment that applies to everyone.
