I don’t understand GD’s hatred towards Dragon Riding. Blizzard gave players an engaging method to explore the new expansion from the start. If you hate it that much, then stay grounded until Pathfinder comes out.
In every recent expansion, players were grounded and forced to do meaningless Pathfinder achievements ~8 months after launch. People cried saying they want flying “now” and without Pathfinder, so Blizzard developed it and still people are crying.
We also had 2 years of the “casual” and “solo” crowd begging to engaging open-world content/activity. Dragon riding fits the bill perfectly.
I understand some of you have motion sickness, but I don’t believe it at the rate we are seeing on GD forums. If you feel like pressing 2 buttons is “too hard”, then idk what to tell you.
I swear, some of you will complain about anything, yet you continue to pay to play.
My only gripe about dragon friding / flying is more personal versus anything else.
Sure I get a bit dizzy. I work through it. I just don’t like Dragon/Proto Drake mounts. To me, my opinion, no matter how fancy they make them, I just dislike them. Hate using them and find their motions and animation just bland and asymmetrical.
I’ll probably like Dragon Riding more once they allow more mounts; in my case mechanical ones to have access to it.
I just said this on another thread, but I’ll take dragonriding over pathfinder any day. Though it’s tough to take in the scenery while watching my vigor and flight angles.
To be completely honest, if DR is the worst thing right now, that’s actually a good sign. I’m not going through the forums to cite other launches, but this one has felt strangely…tame? If that’s the right word for it lol
You and I both know better at this point You get hate just for creating a thread half the time. Some people are just inconsolable, and need something to which they can direct their misery. The good thing is, you seem to not care–as it should be!
I’ve been working around my Wife’s work schedule and having bought a new house, so it’s been stupid busy of late, so a slow leveling playthrough process right now. I’m not sure how she is going to handle the whole dragon riding motion.
She did not do well with Shadowlands swirly blue vortex when flying to and from Oribos. hopefully, she enjoys it like I did when playing with it on the beta. Speaking for myself I really love and enjoy the fact I get (Flying) right from the start.
The motion sickness one is interesting…I mean for every system there’s someone that complains about accessibility and motion sickness is the low hanging fruit of DR potential complaints, but I don’t get how going a little bit faster creates motion sickness for people yet no previous vehicle quests or regular flying or flight master paths had people vomiting all over their desks.
Does walking briskly or taking an Uber cripple these people too? Idk, I don’t want to dismiss anyone with legitimate issues but it really doesn’t feel like that’s what’s going on here.
Good news though, it’s the biggest complaint of this expansion, even bigger than the server stability. That’s a good sign for how well this xpac is starting imo
I feel like I’ve only barely messed around with DR but it’s INFINITELY better than pathfinder garbage. I mean INFINITELY. The ability to go vertically right at the start of an expansion is the absolute best.
Tonight and tomorrow I’m going to practice DR and “git gud” at it so I can traverse the world with ease.
I think this is what many of the haters are forgetting or refusing to see. They are narrow minded and only focused on “now” and can’t picture what it was like having to wait for Pathfinder.
Noedesha posted a really good guide for people with motion sickness here:
I also have some tips here:
Worse case scenario if you wife doesn’t like Dragon Riding or wants to get the glyphs fast you can enable Ride Along and your dragon riding mount becomes a multi seater. While a whelp your wife can collect the Dragon Riding Glyphs too.
That’s really cool, thanks for sharing. I had no idea that was an option. I think another great thing, that I heard, was that Glyphs were account bound/wide?
