Dragon Riding VS Pathfinder

Use WoWhead it’s easier: https://www.wowhead.com/guide/dragonriding/glyph-locations

But ya you go from 2 vigor to 6 and rapid regeneration of vigor when you fill out the tree.

That’s 100% what I’m doing lol. On days when I’m tired at the office, I force myself to multitask more to keep my mind active. This has been an off week for me since I had to cut down on my caffeine intake

At least for me, my dislike of DR doesn’t mean I dislike all of the game. Overall I think DF has been much improved.

Maybe a good question is why people in GD have such a problem with people not liking certain parts of the game? Saying we don’t like DR is like calling someone’s mother ugly around here.

thanks for this totally agree

Pretty sure Dragon Riding is going to be here to stay. Flying at 830% speed is amazing and faster than 310%.

With the dragon riding talent tree maxed out you can fly indefinitely and from flat ground, takes only under 2 hours to get all 48 glyphs. (which are account wide)

We will probably see Dragon Riding added to the old world soon (Evokers can Soar there) and with maxed riding it wouldn’t be an issue flying there.

We will also likely see Dragon Riding be applied to more mounts, likely traditional flying mounts with wings like your drakes, proto-drakes, gryphons, wyverns (one of the Dragon Riding mounts is wyvern like), pterodactyls (as the Onaran Plains mount is one) first as those seem like they would be the easiest to convert where they have similar (or in most cases the same) rigs. If I were to guess we would likely have them available in 10.1 and mounts would likely have a “Dragon Riding Applicable” tag with them.

Non-traditional flying mounts like flying horses (Invincible, Lucid Nightmare), Cloud Serpents, Flying Machines/Rockets (Engineering ones from MoP or the Love Rocket), Flying Carpets, etc will likely require more time to become dragon riding accessible and not look goofy.

I don’t like it just for the vigor system at the start. It just feels bad to wait until you have enough vigor or just spend the time walking. I know that is a short term problem/inconvenience once I get more skill in it and it’s alt friendly. However, I’m not a fan of it starting out.

My bigger issue is just I can’t use other mounts to do this nor can I fly once I learn the entire tree? My Tyrael Charger has been my go to mount since I got it back in 2012. I use it 99% of the time and I don’t generally like using dragon mounts ever. I get it, it’s a staple of this expansion. Fine, let me do dragon riding as intended with those dragons until I learn everything/explore it all. Then let me afk fly with my own mount if I want to. It should be a fair compromise and should be available at the start of the expansion, not 2-3 patches in.

I’ve unlocked the first two dragons and I’m fine when flying on them. But when trying to use them as ground mounts while waiting for vigor, that’s when I get motion sickness from watching my characters bouncing left and right.

If there’s no urgent need to fly, I ride on my much more non-motion sick causing panther mount when having to be on the ground.

Pathfinder is stooopid

The last 2 dragons will probably be better for you, proto-drakes and pterodactyls have that bouncing effect while Drakes and Wyverns (3rd and 4th respectively) don’t have it as bad.

It’s not at a rate that is anymore different than an average of people that have it. It’s not that many posts. Motion sickness and eye issues are quite common.

It’s not a deal breaker for the entire game. I use ride along and take breaks. But it’d be nice to have both forms of flying as options so people could take it at their pace. And be able to do it without getting sick.

The lack of empathy on the forums just because some want everyone to like something as much as they do is wild.

It also didn’t need another thread.

Pretty sure extending dragon-riding to the rest of the existing game mounts would cost us a raid tier, and we know how precious Blizzard finds its raid tiers.

I want the ability to hover and take a look around. I want the ability to fly straight up. I hate how the dragonriding mount is so clunky on the ground and half the time I just try and jump it wastes a vigor and launches me somewhere I didn’t want to go.

The dragonriding mounts make gathering more tedious than it needs to be. It makes traveling short distances more tedious than it needs to be.

It’s great for long distances, it’s really fun to do the courses. Hell it’s fun to just fly around sometimes. But they should have regular flying as well, no reason not to.

I like DR, for the most part. I do find myself, occasionally sitting in one place too long to “recharge” vs. playing the game but I assume that will level out with more points or practice.

In my case because my eyesight is failing. Dragon riding makes me disoriented and dizzy. So I only use it when I must. But that is not the only thing this expansion offers. I am having fun questing and pet battling.

As I said in my post, the traditional mounts Drakes, Proto-Drakes, Wyverns, Pterodactyls use the same rig as the dragon riding mounts. It shouldn’t be resource intensive to allow them to dragon ride.

Other mount types as mentioned likely would require resources.

I hated it at first, still not a huge fan, but it’s part of this expansion, a huge part of it.
I read a post on tips on dragon Riding and I’m working on step one of that - get all glyphs. It’s not been as bad as I thought, the hardest part is as I’m flying through all the other zones, resisting the urge to loot treasures and kill rares etc!
Best part - upto 830% flight increase … Yes please! It’s quite fun.
I just hate the races, but i’m sure I’ll get those done eventually.

Have you unlocked all 48 glyphs? There are talents to have 6 vigor, rapid vigor regeneration after gathering a gathering node. I’ve found that short distances aren’t and issue at all I just spend 1 vigor to leap high.

The races are significantly easy with all 48 glyphs. I’m easily getting 5-8 seconds below gold time on all the waking shore ones. I had to stop myself from doing the other zones as I want to finish the story and get to level cap.

You have not been around GD for long then. GD is basically one of many daycares for people who hate differing opinions or dealing with new things.

Yes, was done immediately, takes about an hour lol

All of what I said stands even with max glyphs.

Fair enough, may just be a learning curve because I don’t have that issue when I was gathering herbs. I only spent 1 vigor on short distances with 1 leap and usually got me to the next one. Or I just got lucky with spawn locations.
