Dragon Riding VS Pathfinder

My advise the moment you unlock dragon riding you should immediately get all the glyphs, u go from 2 vigor to 6 vigor and can fly indefinitely especially when u unlock the other drakes which gives a new ability each.

Yes they are account wide, for Ride Along you need to enable it at the trainer. So you just get the glyphs once and it takes less than 2 hours to do, while doing the glyphs it helps train you in Dragon Riding.

I did a few more quests to hit 63 but my plan as soon as I get back on is to gather all 48 glyphs and max the tree.

What scenery? There’s scenery in this game?

I haven’t even noticed it.

Also, this removes the argument of gating flying behind “we want you to explore the content”. What content? I can’t even tell what your art team did until I crash into it.

They don’t even have to use it, they could sit back and walk around…… No one has to use movement speed

There is absolutely scenery and the art team did an amazing job. The topography was also well thought out.

Ya you will really notice a difference, you can quest faster too once its maxed as well. Plus there isn’t really any story spoilers in doing so u just uncover the map and its a one-time scenic tour. I also advise knocking out the Explore achievement for exploring all 4 zones because where the glyphs are located there are only a few spots you won’t uncover.

I’m honestly looking forward to it! Only (checks watch) 7 more hours of work…but then I have the next 5 off!!

Still flying at warp 9.8, I have neither the time, nor the ability to see any scenery.

Sounds like a personal issue then.

Also you can spend the glyphs on the Renown UI (same location as Shadowlands Covenant, BfA table, Order Hall Icon etc.) so no need to go back to the trainer.

Another note is many rares drop cosmetic options for your dragon so kill them

you can unlock a pterodactyl and wyvern style “drake” to use in the other zones if that helps, personally i dislike protodrakes and regular drake/dragon mounts cause they’re so bulky so i can’t wait to get the other 2 unlocked

Oh snap, I didn’t know that. Thanks for that haha. I would have gone straight back to the trainer.

I’ve noticed that. I’ve killed everyone I’ve come across.

Just the loud minority, as usual. Were I in Blizzard’s shoes, I’d check the account of everyone complaining for signs of botting.

Ya I found that out AFTER I collected and spent all 48 glyphs

Also note on your 1st character there isn’t level scaling so you may want to avoid the 66+ level rares in Azure Span and Thaldrasus.

This is definitely key. DR is simply much better when you have the tree maxed. And, in going around to get the glyphs, you’re getting a lot of practice at dragonriding, and by the end of that you’re going to know how to fly more or less indefinitely by controlling your momentum and speed, how to deal with starting from flat ground and so on, which are the things people are struggling with when they first start with the dragon. It just makes sense to spend the time to get the glyphs, get some practice and it generally will click.

For those who have motion sickness or substantial hand disabilities, I am hopeful Blizzard can do something to address these issues, which are a separate set of issues from the “I just prefer alt-tab helicopter flying”.

But but but… theres one mandatory campaign quest where I have to mount then step off a ledge and then aim my camera at a ring and glide through it and its just too hard for me!!1!

Tbh, I think most of the people who hate it actually just don’t really get it… Once you really get the nuance down of keeping speed and regen’ing your vigor, you really can keep that vigor going forever and it feels SO GOOD.

I can imagine a lot of people spamming their buttons, having no vigor, and ending up grounded a lot. But they’ll get it soon enough (I hope!)

It is flying…with extra steps.

Agreed. In a worst case scenario, you can use the dragon mount to quickly access new flight paths to make life easier. I am personally using google to locate all the glyphs and gather as many as I can. I think dragon riding will be much better once you can fill out the talent tree. The worst part in the beginning is that you have very little endurance.

Because Blizzard didn’t deliver what was desired.

Saying, “You can fly right now, but only on these four mounts - which everyone else is going to have so they’re going to be boring as Hell by the time everything is said and done - and you can’t use them anywhere else in the game,” wasn’t what was requested.

Flight at level cap, no restrictions, no stupid gold pricing, no gimmicks, as it had been from BC to Mists. Simple, cheap, and no extra work coming up with something they’re going to toss in the garbage in two years. That is what was requested.
