Dragon riding sucks to be honest

For me it’s freedom to explore and focus on the scenery rather than focus on swooping and maintaining the right altitude. I like to stop and look at stuff that catches my attention. Just sit in the air and take it all in. I don’t want to start going into freefall because I stopped to look at the sunset lol.

It goes too fast for me to appreciate the surroundings in the way I want to, and trying to maintain a slow speed is fiddly. You have to keep a balance between slow and “dragon starts falling.” Start going too fast and you have to point your camera up to decrease speed, which is against the whole point of looking at things. Plus since I’m going slow, no bonus vigor recharge. It’s so annoying its easier to not bother and just ground mount unless absolutely necessary to bypass mobs or something

I like both and will take both, as long as we don’t go back to Pathfinder, tiny zones that are 97.5% mountains, or no flight at all for 6+ months with a million transparent excuses.

Flight is good. Any kind of flight. Anything is better than desperately mountain hum*ing.

Blizz needs to enable normal flying already. Dragon riding in WoW isnt the same as in GW2. The GW2 version looks better, the mounts flap their wings, and the game engine doesn’t make me car sick. I’d also like to afk hover every now and then, not babysit my stupid dragon who is too lazy to flap it’s wings.

Edited to add, I am not advocating for the removal of dragon riding, just for the addition of regular flying.

One issue, I am experiencing is when mining/herbing and missing a landing. Mind you this is a minor issue. I find I then have to do a giant swoop around and try again or land and retake off once more vigor. I like how normal mounts I could just hold space bar and fly straight up he 3 feet I needed without the hectic speed burst and need to rapidly change the camera or wait on vigor to regenerate.

I have the same issue, I get super dizzy plus with my carpel tunnel, I am screwed!

A couple of months in and yea it feels terrible and lame. Not that it is bad, it is just as boring as flying regularly but somehow worse, surprise surprise. Just let both options exist already, it is stupid to even deny people the ability to do something they’ve been able to do for a good 14+ years at this point. Anyone against this is delusional which is unsurprising.

I find it annoying, I press the spacebar to aim up a bit and fricken thing surges, I hate it. I land and the thing keeps running, right off a cliff or some other place I do not want to go. I land and wish to attack, only to hit a number and zoom off again…too many times. I have added some attack spells to the toolbar, but it seems I still want to hit 3 or 4 sometimes only go flying away. No control over how high, how far you will surge, hit an overhang, and lose your momentum. Yeah, not something I terribly enjoy. It is better than running around for the most part but IMHO it is not the best thought-out mechanics.

All your points sounds like you’re running into latency issues.

I have the same issues, though not that bad. I just assume or know that means I’m not very good at it. It just doesn’t improve QOL for me and others. Then one has to make a choice or choices: leave game, or find other things to do in Azeroth until regular flying comes back. Or my choice for now is to keep muddling along with this insane idea that maybe I can get the hang of this. (ha, no pun intended - more like hang myself when I get so frustrated at my lack of ability!)

Counterpoint: dragonriding is great and makes the world feel alive in a new way

The best thing they could do is game-ify travel. I use to point in a direction on a flying mount and look at the internet or use a flight path and watch tv, now I’m zooming around flying under bridges and skimming the water etc. It’s fantastic!

One thing the haters need to realize even if you don’t like dragon riding is you are getting a travel option very early and don’t have to wait months to be able to fly…that has to count for something.

I tried doing world quest today with dragon riding, what flippin mess that was. All because Blizzard hates one of the things that made the game great to start with.

To the Devs that carry on this crusade WoD is over, the playbase vetoed the game with their wallets and you lost. If you are not happy with it maybe you need to move to another gaming team.

Both forms of flying can coexist, people need to realize this as does Blizz and stop trying to find ways to convince us old flying needs to go. It doesn’t.

This right here. Dragonriding sucks yes I got my glyphs guess what I just don’t like it. Regular flying when blizz? I’m more than happy to not buy another expansion if you wanna gate regular flying and release dragonriding.
