Dragon riding sucks to be honest

Reforging hasn’t been a thing in ages. Do you mean Dragonriding? Imho it’s a pretty meh feature. It’s not some huge gamechanger or creative addition so much as stapled on from other games, it’s not the worst thing but it really is one of those things I wouldn’t really notice or care if it was just gone next week randomly.

Circus is in town and the clowns are out in force tonight.

Not a fan of it nor do I hate it. I would much rather have normal flying mounts. However, a huge negative for me is that anytime I am using it I am more focused on it and getting to where I need to go than actually enjoying the environments/artwork the team put in place that I would normally look at while I fly around. I’m completely ignoring all that in favor of paying attention to maintaining momentum.

I suggest you avoid Vasjʻir.

Some people like dragonriding, and some people hate dragonriding. It’s an individual opinion and that’s where it should be, no reason to attack anyone for it (that’s what Twitter is for).
I for one find it still has many flaws and therefore not ready yet. For example - and maybe I am doing it wrong - when you flap upward near a mountainside and spent vigor, it actually doesn’t climb. Tilting down to speed up still doesn’t get you higher up. I also think each flap upward should last longer than the few seconds it does now.

I really hate dragon riding, i would rather grind for flying. I really suck at it and don’t think it will get any better. I am so frustrated trying to get to the flight points that are high up on mountains that i suck at reaching. Other than that i like the expansion but having to struggle to get anywhere, for me, drives me away.

So now that it is live here is my honest take.

DR is fun - its true, but it can also be extremely annoying.

Trying to to land on a specific spot, super irritating.
If you run out of vigor, because you got stuck on a branch or some other invisible obstacle on the map.
Quests like the leatherworking weekly, that has you try to aggro flying mobs without getting them to evade.

So basically DR is great if you are flying between WQs or between zones.

It is pretty terrible though if you are flying between objectives on a given quest, or anything that is relatively short distance, or requires any kind of precision, or frequent mounting/dismounting.

So it more or less landed where I expected it to. If they got rid of it tomorrow, not sure that I would really care.

You suck to be honest…

Normally in a new expansion island, youre stuck with ground mounts,

If you play for months, youll get to see that pretty scenery plenty.

Dragonflight is fine, blizzard shouldnt listen to ----

because wow is not an idle rpg and should continue to incorporate new mechanics to immerse us in thinking about the world of warcraft that we go into.
Dragonflight is a small sense of added Realism and fun, and also looks awesome when you watch other players dragons circling around instead of always hovering still like drones.

Personally I feel that Dragonriding is fun on concept but fails a bit in execution. I don’t think it sucks, but it can be really annoying sometimes.

The fact you can’t hover while flying is very irritating, and since you’re always moving forward, landing can be very obnoxious. Having to stand and wait for Vigor to replenish is painful, even though you can also replenish it while flying when you dive and glide, but still. Vigor should refill at least twice as fast, from the very start.

When it works, it feels great, it feels like regular flying with extra steps. And the racing minigames reminds me way too much of Superman 64.

huh…and yet i find myself never using flight masters now because A to B is actually interactive now instead of tabbing out lol.

two words…FLIGHT…MASTER.
theyre all over the place.

lol…then youre doing it wrong.
Charge IN FLIGHT…EVERY TIME. BEFORE YOU LAND.
I have to sit and wait for maybe half a vigor to charge so I have two maybe once or twice in an entire week.
If you have two, youve got more than enough to do anything in this game.

idk, I’ve been surprised at how much positivity I’ve seen about dragonriding on these forums since launch. The same forums that are constantly trashing most everything else about the game, but DR in particular seems to have a lot of fans.

Doubt it’s shilling or brand loyalty, if that were the case they’d be praising WoW across the board, and for the most part people aren’t.

yeah, I use flight masters. But it doesn’t give you freedom to stop and land at any point on the map, or change directions or anything like that. It’s not the same thing at all

I love dragon riding. It is convenient, quick, and alt friendly.

it takes the boredom out of A to B. lol.
I love flight sims anyway and while this aint one its sure closer than air swimming.

I’m the opposite. I enjoy flying around the old content I am doing and rarely used a flight master unless I needed to go afk (or in SL where a flight master or portal is the only way to travel between zones). Regular flight is fun for me. On my dracthyr I made sure to get all the flight masters on the dragon isles so that I could use them instead of dragonriding. I know how to do dragonriding and regenerate vigor in the air so that I never need to land, but that doesn’t make it fun.

I spose…i just dont see how air swimming is ‘fun’ either. More like AFK tabbing out to youtube videos boring. lol

The number of times I’ve kept auto-flying into a fatigue barrier and died because I got bored and tabbed out and forgot to tab back in…is non-zero.
