There’s nothing like the “rolling” releases that we get. Latest Mesa drivers, latest kernel releases, etc. Oh, and NO updates unless I want to install it on my time.
Thank you.
Yeah, no anger. Ive already upgraded and played a bit of the beta. Was just an info post. WoW is like 95% of what I use a pc for. Never had a need to even look at an upgrade. So never even thought about it until today.
Maybe. But going from 7 to 8 was absolutely hideous.
7 was an operating system. 8 was a salesman living in my flipping computer. 10 isnt much better. Feels like ads more than an OS.
There’s no ads on Windows 10. wtf.
I still can’t figure out where people are getting ads and stuff from. I’m on 11. I downloaded StartAllBack. I’ve got a normal bar now, normal start menu, normal system tray. It’s just my desktop, my folders and my programs across the bottom. Simple and ad free.
I miss the Aero-Glass in Windows 7. It was such a pretty OS. I hope Microsoft brings that back somehow.
I know windows 7 is not supported by MS anymore so i dont think DF will run it
I dont know how you managed that. The wife and I BOTH are constantly dealing with the crap popping up on the windows bars and even the stupid program bar. its not viruses or adware. The system was literally designed to be an ad platform. this was a HUGE issue right from the start with both 8 and 10.
Any version of 7 is better than 8 or 10.
I have 10 and I had 8 for a long while. They seem to do the job, but I’ll take 7 or hell, even 98 over this crap today.
7 is 15 year old garbage at this point, and it’s getting more and more insecure by the day and doesn’t have the latest and greatest advancements in terms of GPU support.
Now you’re not even serious.
Tell me you know nothing about tech without telling me you know nothing about tech.
It was the best Windows ever, but it’s time to move on. 10 is excellent.
Just my two copper, but I’d be a little surprised if it didn’t work on 7. Mainly because Windows generally doesn’t change that much from version to version. Kind of the same reason that old software that says “Requires Win98/ME/2000” still runs on modern systems (well, sometimes).
People are still running that outdated OS? They do realise it’s no longer supported which opens your PC up to security risks.
If your PC can’t run windows 10, how is it running WoW? Time to upgrade…
I installed 11, skipped half the crap they wanted me to do, installed StartAllBack and dun.
I have no clue how that even happens. I’ve never once seen a pop up.
Indeed, the “flat square” trend that took over UI starting with Windows 8 is getting old. Aero was maybe a bit too busy, but there were a ton of .msstyle skins that used the Aero engine that you could download that were both beautiful and functional.
While you can still technically use themes in Windows 10/11, Microsoft gutted the theme engine which means that themes can’t look too different from the standard appearance.
11 at the very least brings back something of a toned-down version of Aero Glass that’s used in some places… they need to go whole hog with it though and replace the remaining ugly flat bits.
To be fair, since it was not longer supported, Windows 7 is a solid target for security breaches for any computer connected to the Web. So, yes, it’s broken and it need to be fix.
im still using 10, i was in the beta program for several months before release and have had release version since day 1. i have never seen an ad… you might wanna run malwarebytes or something.
Win 10 was at least better than 8.
There are medical offices still running windows 95. I’ve replaced probably a dozen old networks like that for folks. lol
There are a myriad of reasons to run an old OS. Gaming is rarely one of them.
Sometimes Im sitting here and a flipping popup comes on the right side of the screen on one of the flyout tabs they added over the years. Very annoying. Its an ad platform…its SPOSE to be an OS.
they seem to be android lovers or something.
