Windows OneDrive Setup
Pops up on your screen, in your face, to setup OneDrive. A “feature” they offer a free sample of and monetize for more. HAS to be skipped through multiple screens before even finishing startup.
Ok, literally just 2 minutes ago finished installing Windows 10 (my SSD had blown up, just received the replacement). One Drive setup came up : 1 screen, I clicked “Save files only to this PC” and that was the end of it.
They also offered a Game Pass and Office 365. All one click no.
It’s a setup wizard and offers to enable services you might want or have already. It’s a convenience, not an ad.

I use StartAllBack to fix the bottom taskbar and I think 11 works perfectly, no issues. Very fast and smooth.

You can repeat that all you want… doesn’t make it true.

I JUST GOT A POP UP!
It said “GOG Galaxy has been minimized”. It happened right as I minimized GOG Galaxy.
Was that an ad too ? Oh no wait, it was just the notification system.

It’s selling something to you, even if you can say no. It’s an ad.

You aren’t required to buy anything.
Ads don’t require people to buy anything. That’s not a attribute of being an ad.

A system notification is NOT an ad… It’s really not that to understand al least for most people.

It helps you set up a Microsoft integrated service you might already have. Instead of digging through menus to find it. It’s a conveniance.
An ad would be random pop ups “Did you know OneDrive can help you make backups of your files ?” at random time, not just during a setup wizard.
The initial guy was claiming Windows 10 had pop up ads. Not just Microsoft Cloud integrations.

No, the initial part that I was arguing with was when someone said Microsoft doesn’t have ads.
It does in fact advertise it’s services… even if you can say no.

Like I said earlier all he wants to do is argue.
I agreed with you. I am here to argue that point. Something wrong was said. I’m arguing why it was a wrong statement.
It doesn’t. It has a notification system and a News feed applet installed by default. That’s it.

It does. It’s an ad. If you disable it, they force you to go through it again. It’s a service they sell. It’s an ad.

Literally never had One Drive pop up except during major updates, during the Setup Wizard. Which is now once yearly.
You’re doing something massively wrong.
I never claimed it was common. In fact, I’ve repeatedly said it’s not common.
But it is an ad.
