Maybe you already set it up when it first prompted, but I get ads every few updates or so to do some such setup and OneDrive mess.
No, there are not. If youâre getting pop ads, you installed something or allowed notifications from some place you shouldnât have.
Iâve been running Windows 10 for years.
Thatâs not an adâŚ
AND HEâLL SCREAM IT TOO!
Itâs a service you can pay for that has a free âDemoâ.
Itâs an ad.
Itâs part of the setup wizard you have to do every major update. No different than your iPhone asking you if you want to enable iCloud backups.
Itâs a feature you can disable or enable during the setup wizard.
Itâs not an ad. And itâs not a pop-up ad for sure.
Sure, sure, feature. That you can pay for. Totally not an ad they force you to click through every few updates.
Totally not scummy to hide the link to skip it either.
Same for me. I was getting ads to upgrade CCleaner to the Pro version but that was because I had accidently allowed notifications. It wasnât a problem cause by Windows 10.
Yeah, like Name Changes, Server Transfers, Faction Changes in WoW.
Lots of features are paid for extras.
Itâs never hidden. I have no issue skipping setting up One Drive.
And those are advertised too.
oh, and letâs not forget the News and Interest thing they had that was not able to be disabled for a while when it first launched.
Another feature I guess.
Since when is news and weather considered a bad thing or an ad?
KDE5 had the same thing years ago, and eventually Gnome. You gonna say Linux has ads now ?
Turn it off if you donât want a news RSS feed applet.
It has a RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS section.
Pretty sure even Microsoft isnât supporting Win 7 anymore with drivers, ect.
Originally, you couldnât turn it off.
Iâve had Windows 10 for years, Iâve always had it turned off.
⌠but thatâs not a pop up ad? And you can configure news and weather to show whatever you want.
One of the first thing I do on a fresh install is uninstall One Drive.
Iâm a fan of Microsoft too, but it has ads, rarely. Yaâll just skirt your eyes around them and say âTurn it offâ or itâs a âfeatureâ you can pay for so itâs not an ad to make you skip it every few updates.
Itâs an ad. They make that skip link small for a reason.
Yes
But they arenât ads.
A News feed applet is not an ad, but yes, you can turn it off.
Yes, some SaaS features arenât included in the base price, but the integration for them is built-in. Itâs not an ad, itâs a feature integration with a paid SaaS component.
