It also just waters down the cultural distinctions between the Alliance and the Horde. Like, I get it, the Alliance has always had darker classes working behind the scenes, but Void Elves just feel so out of place. It’s like, Blizzard refuses to ever let the Alliance do anything wrong or evil, but they also keep adding groups to the Alliance that water down their core themes. Void Elves are a good example, but honestly I find playable Man’ari in the Alliance to be kind of weird, as well. I’d rather just have Draenei warlocks that look like Man’ari because of fel-corruption. Not the literal, actual, most evil and omnicidal beings in the universe suddenly joining forces…with the Alliance.
What is the Alliance’s identity, even? I thought the whole point was that they were noble knights, champions of justice, and nature-lovers. Worgen were a clever inversion of these themes while still staying true to the core Alliance identity (they were still human on the inside and they also hate monsters like the forsaken). Void Elves just…I mean, you’ve already heard the issues a thousand times over.
All they had to do was give the Alliance high elves. Now look where we are.

well at least you can maintain a customizations request thread as a blood elf.
void elf and high elf threads have been closed due to mods having to moderate them too much from people flagging each other. so where do we make our requests? guess we dont

This isn’t cool but it does speak volumes to the type of community differences.

we occasionally have people who either 1) dont like alliance, 2) dont like elves, 3) dont like velfs, 4) dont like helfs, 5) dont like blizzard games, 6) dont like a particular poster, 7) are having a bad day, etc.
it doesnt take much for the flags to start flying. i never flag people, even if they offend me.

Ysera would be the opposite as she has a Nelf Skin on a Belf Skeleton.
I don’t usually either unless they are literally off the rocks with personal attacks and saying things they really shouldn’t like discriminatory things but I also don’t go to the Void Elf/High Elf threads really anymore so I don’t know what goes on in them.

well i dont think there is a high elf thread. fen was talking about starting one, but now he has to worry about his 17,000+ velf thread being closed.
Yes i know that detail, but they are of the BE race lore-wise, so they’re BE’s.

Sorry to hear that, but
I don’t really see why we have to have these “Who has it worse” conversations in this thread. I think you should get more customization options, though I personally think velves were a stupidly written idea that caused lasting damage to the worldbuilding. I think Blizzard has failed us all in numerous ways, and I’d love it if we could have conversations like these without arguing with each other about who “deserves” what.
We all deserve better.

she shared the female super thalassian skeleton with alleria and sylvannas. veressa is the only windrunner with just a normal helf skeleton

Clearly she just needs to undergo the Elf Primaris upgrade.
i think alleria was shrunk back down when they needed her for cutscenes in legion,so she wouldnt tower over veressa during the cutscene. also alexstraza had the thalassian model but it varied from sylvannas style to just normal. and now its super super thalassian lol
I think I’d be alright with it if Blizzard just… ran with the idea of what they’ve set up, which is… The Dark Alliance, within the Alliance. Man’ari customizations is just the LATEST addition to this inversion of the Alliance’s core races.
Worgen - Cursed Humans
Dark Iron Dwarves - Dark Dwarves
Void Elves - Corrputed High Elves
Mechagnomes - Mad Scientist Gnomes
Man’ari - Demonic Draenei
Like… Blizzard has gone out of their way to just keep adding these, ‘Core Alliance Identity Races, but somehow dark,’ and they refuse to embrace that and create a compelling story.
It should start out with these darker races finding common ground. Worgen should have welcomed the Void Elves, knowing what it’s like when your own race see’s you as a monster. Dark Irons and Void Elves had the barest hints of being friendly in BFA, and they should, as both races were once enemies of the Alliance and now members of it. Mechagnomes expand their knowledge with a very, ‘the ends justify the means,’ attitude that’d mesh so well with ANY of the races above. Now we’re about to see the Man’ari join the Alliance, and we have four darker race variants who should have common ground with them as well.
Except Blizzard never developed any of our darker Alliance races to have this sense of comraderie, to be a welcoming refuge in the Alliance for the Man’ari, a group that won’t judge them, but offer understanding, compassion, sympathy, etc…
It’s just a waste.
