The weird uses for words these days…
Ironically, the dictionary says using it this way is very dated.
Blizz said they were thinking about the possibility of playable Drakonid and I got my hopes up.
November 2022 called, and they appear to be a bit hostile.
From someone who hasn’t played since mid-Shadowlands expansion and cares very little about the lore, Dracthyr don’t look “cool” or interesting. Drakonid would have been a much bigger talking point and selling point for the average consumer.
As a fan of big, beefy, player races, I was and am unenthused by Dracthyr. I had my hopes up for something closer to Drakonid, and it still breaks my heart to see them, and all of their potential.
People have talked for hours about the wasted potential of finally getting a playable draconic race, and I agree, Metzen would have done it better.
Ogres and Drakonids. People would have much more interest for these playable races over Dracthyr.
I cannot believe one of the iconic Horde races from back in the day still is not playable Horde side. It absolutely blows my mind at this point. I know we need to fit through doors and whatever, but c’mon with this.
Based on various things I’ve seen and read over the years, I don’t believe Chris Metzen ever had that sort of iron-fisted control over the story. I don’t think he was fully behind the decision to put Blood Elves on the Horde, but tried his best to make do with the story, except even that didn’t work out as he had planned. If you read his early story/lore in the TBC expansion reveal, you’ll notice most of it was changed or reverted. I don’t see Chris changing his mind like that without being heavily pressured by other people at Blizzard.
In fact, I’d bet that sort of constant “fight” to tell your story when you don’t have full control over the story is what helped burn him out. So, if Chris Metzen was still involved when Drakthyr were being created, I don’t think he’d have enough power to stop it. Maybe mold it slightly differently, but we’d pretty much have the same thing.
At least we got something
I’m still upset sethrak got hella teased and we never got that as playable… diapergnomes… of all things…
Isn’t this what you are doing though?
Weird take to crap on wow for doing something you are.
Unlike some of my kin, I choose I take solace amongst the Pandaren and learn their cuisine and way of life. I’m more happy that way.
see, i gotta believe your wrong about them not happening based on how much work was put into their graphics/abilities. it’s not like they were made by an intern in an afternoon or something.
but, i’m betting your half right. i’m betting they’d still would’ve happened, they would’ve definitely been more buff, like drakonids.
so… 50/50 really. they’d still be a thing, but they’d be more buff/tough looking.
Red Draenei are a sin. Have a nice night.
please, go project your feelings of inferiority and insecurity onto somebody else
Peak irony.
That is literally the story of Arthas!
Yeah, kids and their Latin.
Personally, I hope Blizz does more “emotional” expansions in the future, it is very comedic watching that portion of the WoW community foam at the mouth whenever something that isn’t war, edgy or outright conflict takes center stage for more then half a second.
